I said today was going to be about Sims, and it was, in two major ways --

Watching Sims-Related Content:

-->Video from Red Plumbob comparing beach and ocean activities from Sims 1 through Sims 4 -- and, frankly, after getting a full list of all the things Sims 3 Sims could do in their island-themed expansion, I can totally understand why Sims 4 players feel salty. Having special underwater lots to explore and a greater variety of boats to tool around in would have been nice! And I kind of miss having actual sand castles, instead of just the sculptures. I mean, the sculptures are great too, but -- more variety never goes amiss! *sigh* I'm not that dissatisfied with what we go, as I basically treat Sulani like a day-trip destination, but still.

-->Video from Plumbella about the Princess Cordelia lore in Sims 4, as it features in the upcoming Discover University -- and to my surprise and delight, the team actually MADE Princess Cordy on the gallery! Along with her three pirate suitors, butler, and chef. So that's cool. :D Plumbella went through all the items she could find referencing Princess Cordelia -- apparently, her big thing was that her kingdom was slowly invaded by giant sloths, so she took to the high seas in a submarine called Epsilon, and spent her days painting memories of her past glories (such as tributes to her loyal jazz band, who had to be left behind), having furniture made, and romancing pirate captains. Pretty funny stuff, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it'll be built upon in the upcoming EP. XD

-->Video from Plumbella regarding a new CC "fan stuff pack," this one Modern Housewares. Had some nice stuff, including a full kitchen set which includes some neat new cupboards, and a separated stove top and oven, in case you want that! Plus some nice tables and chairs, and beds, and some cool plants and magazines (as it was originally intended to add onto Moschino Stuff) -- and basically, I am once again blown away by how much love and effort the modding/custom content community puts into this game. There's just so much out there to add to and improve The Sims 4, and -- yeah! I may be going on some custom content binges once I get this latest pack. . .

-->Video from GrayStillPlays -- time to kill some more Sims! XD It looked like at first blush he was going to make the Sims stream constantly until they starved or something, but it turned out what he was actually going for was death by laughter. And he got it, in spades. XD At least the Sims were mostly happy as they went this time? Also, as punishment for his hubris, Spleens ended up having TWO litters of three kittens each during the episode. XD So our winner, Bab Ross, more or less ended up a crazy cat lady. Also also, video this time was sponsored by an electronics company, so we got a brief look at Gray's real-life kitten, who is adorable. :D Not that Spleens isn't adorable! It's just a -- different kind of adorable. XD

-->Video from James Turner regarding Build & Buy for Discover University, as le embargo on Game Changer content has lifted! There's less than you might think for an expansion, but the stuff one does get is useful -- nice new beds and desks, some cool clutter items, a couple of good dining sets, some new food stalls, LOTS of new windows. . . But for me, the best item is definitely the new bathroom stalls. TWO kinds, no less! About freaking time we got these in the game officially! Custom content, you have served me well, but soon it shall be time to retire you.

-->Video from James Turner regarding actual gameplay for Discover University as well, and -- if there's less in Build & Buy, there's DEFINITELY more in gameplay. It all looks rather complicated, in fact! I mean, nothing TOO horrible, but it's definitely going to take some careful planning to get Sims through university. You have to balance class schedules, school activities and organizations, homework, term papers and presentations, and your own needs to do well. Which is more difficult than it sounds -- James demonstrated that by accidentally having one of his Sims sleep in and miss part of her first class. But it all looks like a lot of fun too. Not sure yet how I'll tackle it in Newcrest, but the possibility of some sort of "Valice college AU" save file is looking more and more likely. . .

Playing The Sims 4 Itself:

We've switched over to Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker again, which meant more Doctor career and more StrangerVille mystery! :D And I actually did quite well with both:

-->With the help of a handy list of diseases and their symptoms from Carl's Sim 4 Guides, I was able to help Wheatley successfully diagnose three patients! (Though one was partially luck too, as the patient in question was only showing one symptom, which matched two diseases. . .) Which FINALLY earned him a needed promotion to R.N.! Damn, it feels like it's been FOREVER. . .though, admittedly, part of that might be my "round robin" play style. XD But yeah, finally making some progress on that.

-->Also making progress on the StrangerVille mystery -- once Wheatley got home, Chell traveled to the deepest part of the lab in her hazmat suit and found the Mother Plant. She attempted to communicate, but was very strongly rebuffed. So instead she collected spores while Wheatley gathered bizarre fruits on the surface to later craft a vaccine. Which is sorely needed, as one of the infected, may I remind you, is WHEATLEY HIMSELF. Still wanders around for a couple of hours a night Possessed, which -- is amusing, but also creepy? Especially when you hover over the Sim's portrait and discover there's a unique speech bubble that includes the phrase "fleshy eyes?" Yeah, uh, that was a little disturbing! Sims 4 why. . . At least he's one of the first Sims I plan to cure!

Very Sims indeed, huh? I believe the only non-Sims-related stuff I did today was reading through part of the Bloodlines section on TV Tropes (because why not) and doing some more editing on "Secundus 2" (have introduced hyperactive corgi, have established the other two main couples of the original story have also been invited, and now everyone's talking plans to head over there). And answering the comments in my inbox, of course -- gotta keep up with those.

Also things I have to keep up with -- my Valice Multiverse queue! I'm almost done with it, but I'm pondering just how to answer this one ask. . .need to do it soon, though, as I need to get in bed a bit earlier tonight to accommodate my mall trip tomorrow. Dave & Buster's, then home and Bloodlines, I think! Plus a few more Sims videos I didn't get a chance to see today. :p Ah, it's nice having three days off. If only every week could be like this! Alas, no. . . Welp, just gotta make the best of the extra free time. Night all!
