Mall And Masquerade Monday
Nov. 11th, 2019 11:18 pmWent up to the mall this morning (after my mom finally managed to get home from visiting a friend in the hospital -- apparently there were a number of shenanigans trying to get out of the parking lot) for a wander and a trip to Dave & Busters. Didn't see much that I wanted to buy, apart from some dragon necklaces at Hot Topic, and a plush dragon I could get with my tickets at D&B. Didn't end up getting either, though -- the former because I already have a fair number of necklaces, and I don't want to get more until I have a proper way to store them (currently they're all in a box, threatening to get tangled); the latter because I wasn't sure I wanted that particular style of dragon. I do very much want a large plush dragon, but -- I need to think about what I want OUT of that plush dragon. Maybe look up a few options online. . .
Anyway, I DID get something from D&B -- three somethings, in fact! You see, I went back to their "play until you win a duck" claw machine game, in hopes of getting a red duck to go with our bathroom. I lined up the claw, lowered it, and -- I did not get the red duck.
I did, however, snag three other ducks in one go. Cue me going O.o over that stroke of unusual luck. XD I got another purple duck, a fox duck, and a dinosaur duck (Mom thinks it looks like a triceratops). They're all living in the bathroom, lined up in front of the soap basket. Hey, Mom's happy with them there, I'm happy with them there -- it's all good! XD
As for food, I got my usual lunch at my usual chicken philly place (though I almost lost my stamp card -- the person at the register seemed to be new, and forgot to give it back to me. I got it back after I ate and realized I didn't have it anymore, though), and a milkshake from a new milkshake kiosk on the first level -- I <3 Milkshakes. Got Nutella Heaven, which -- it was good, had plenty of Nutella in it. But I wouldn't rank it above my usual at the Hershey Shake Shack. Think I need to try another flavor or two, perhaps. :p
Came home around twoish and hopped online to watch a few more Discover University videos:
-->Carl's Sim Guides summing up the "Deep Dive" livestream the Gurus did for the expansion pack. Most of it was stuff that I'd already seen covered much better in James's gameplay overview, but this at least showed off more of the robots stuff, including the new version of Servo. So that was neat, at least. :) Yay having robots back! I intend for Emmett and Nikal at least to take full advantage of building bots.
-->Plumbella doing her own "should you buy the pack" overview -- she's very much in favor of it! Not a fan of where you go to see the class schedule and how that looks, and not crazy about some of the design choices in the dorms (ovens are a Forbidden Object, which she doesn't get because apparently that's common in English university dorms), but overall she seems to love the pack and calls it perhaps the best take on the University pack yet. :D It's getting me just enough hyped for this pack, I think :D Not that I plan to get it IMMEDIATELY, but I'll probably own it by Thanksgiving. Once I'm sure I won't break all my mods. :p
-->And Plumbella renovating the Foxbury Institute "student commons" lot, which -- well, it wasn't GREAT, but you know EA builds by now. Hers was much nicer looking and included a lot more cool stuff, yay. I'm seriously thinking of grabbing some pre-designed save files from simmers and mixing-and-matching favorite elements for that "college Valice AU" file I want to do. Might be fun -- and would certainly save me the horrors of having to build my own stuff. XD (Not that I don't enjoy it, it's just -- I don't have the patience to make truly great builds, like some folks I see on SimTube.)
With that out of the way, it was time to leap back into Bloodlines! And, uh, reload an earlier save because I wanted to try something out. In my previous play session, I killed Chastity the vampire hunter via sledgehammering and blood sucking. While I was writing up my notes, however, the different circumstances under which Alice attacked Chastity (she's got Victor helping her, and Chastity gets him into the private room and tries to kill him because -- well, he's so pale she figures he MUST be a vampire) led to me writing that she "Vision of Deathed" her -- and it suddenly occurred to me -- would that work in the game?
Totally does. XD Even better, that cheesing method for "You Only Die Once A Night," Romero's famously hard "keep the zombies inside the cemetery for five minutes" quest, I discovered via YouTube totally works as well! Only had to shoot like three zombies. I get the feeling the ones that cause you the most trouble -- aka the ones going after the GATES -- don't spawn in unless YOU go near the gates. So yeah, got some free XP AND an extra point in firearms for just sitting around in the corner of the cemetery! :D Also Romero coming on to me in a hilariously bad way -- sorry, Romero, I'm not completing your quest that way! XD Didn't get the gun, though -- my damn inventory was full. Hopefully it'll still be in his cabin the next time I see him -- the plus patch SHOULD also allow me to do his "get a prostitute for him" quest if I visit him again and ask if he needs anything. Fingers crossed! The more XP, the better.
Speaking of which, also completed VV's first quest, got her special "don't call me Susan" dialogue (don't think it'll occur for her and Alice right then, but it's good to get), and started her next quest, "B-Rated Writer." And then mostly completed it, along with "Snuff is Enough" -- got the screenplay off David Hatter at the Luckee Star, then visited Room 2 to get the Internet Cafe employee keycard and take care of the monsters there. Then, after picking up the complete snuff tape, I had Alice head off to Santa Monica to take care of Julius -- by which I mean send him off into the night because the poor guy wouldn't have spilled Kindred secrets if anyone had bothered to properly explain the Masquerade to him. Alice can be ruthless, but she feels very protective of those who don't have a lot going for them. Big surprise, right? Now I just have to drop off VV's quest, do Ash's, and then proceed through Isaac's so I can meet Andrei and find the Nosferatu. And spend some XP, forgot to do that tonight. Ah well -- next time!
After that was a quick work-out video, supper, baking my muffins, and writing up my notes for the Londerland Bloodlines timeline. (I look at how long it takes me to write up all my ideas and such after a play session, and I wonder why this story is going to take FOREVER. XD) And then jumping back into videos:
-->One a recommendation from a friend, regarding a lady with a costuming hobby who wore her home-made corset for a week (she ended up much preferring it over a bra, with the caveat that it IS kind of hot due to the necessary layers you have to wear (basically it needs something both under it and over it to protect it and smooth out the lines) and she really needs to make a better one; I personally couldn't be bothered putting that much effort into my undergarments
-->And the other James's latest episode of Planet Zoo -- his timber wolf couple has had pups! :D They're adorable. And he's gotten himself a new animal, a salt water crocodile! Which has a huge habitat because he didn't read up on how much space they actually need before designing it. XD The park also now has proper food and bathroom facilities for guests, which is good. And, even better, we got to see James's in-game avatar come check out the zoo! XD It looked a lot like him too -- impressive when the people are THAT cartoony. (Seriously, the people are really goofy looking, while the animals are rendered in practically photorealistic detail. It's an interesting clash of styles.) At any rate, the zoo is coming along nicely, and I look forward to seeing it grow more.
I also got MOST of my pictures for my latest Newcrest Adventures update taken care of (looking like a four-parter, and I have to choose the pictures for the last part), and now I just have to take care of the comments in my inbox and head to bed. Back to work tomorrow! Just in time for snow showers and the most important day in the space-time continuum. Must remember to dress warm and wear BTTF socks. *nods* Night all!
