YouTube And Sims Sunday
Nov. 24th, 2019 11:11 pmNot only did I catch up on my Linkara, I also caught up on my OXBox/OXtra, along with various Sims videos. Not really much else to do today, as it was (and still is) completely miserable outside, with soaking rains and pretty nasty wind. SUPPOSED to be at least a little nicer tomorrow, but at this point I'll believe it when I see it! Man, I hope the drive in tomorrow isn't too bad. . .short week, Vic, short week. Gotta remember that.
Anyway, yeah, my day can be summed up like so:
-->Watched the two Atop The Fourth Wall videos I needed to catch up on -- the first appearance of Harley Quinn in the DC comics universe proper (as opposed to the animated series -- interestingly enough, it was during "No Man's Land," where Gotham was wrecked by an earthquake and sealed off from the rest of the US, and featured her almost getting over her Joker obsession -- emphasis on "almost"), and the first appearances of Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire in the New Teen Titans (in a weird preview story thing in another comic, where Robin is switching between -- dreams? The present and the future? -- anyway, he's both dealing with a bunch of terrorists on his own and fighting a giant protozoa from another dimension with the new Titans, and it's weird). Both serviceable stories, at least -- we've seen a lot worse on this channel!
-->Watched three OXBox/OXtra videos -- the commenter's edition of "Things That Always Happen When You Start An RPG" (including ending up doing all the same quests and skills and suchlike again despite an urge to be different -- fortunately I've HAD to deviate from my preferred path with the Alice LP of Bloodlines!); irritatingly catchy video game tunes that just gnaw into people's heads (like the Tetris theme! You know the one); and video games that have previous character designs for something integrated into them (such as a main character's old model being turned into the cab driver that drops him off -- hello Quantum Break! Or perhaps a lost antagonist from an earlier version of a popular game getting a chance to grouse about his lost glory in the sequel to said game, like Captain Blackeye from Banjo-Tooie). All fun stuff!
-->Played some Sims 4 -- and yes, I bought Discover University. Haven't actually DONE much with it yet, beyond throw a bathroom stall into my Bowl-N-Skate (though I can only fit one per bathroom! Looks like design fiddling is needed. . .) and watched Chell do the new "figure painting" kind of painting. But it's there when I need it! My focus was on doing more with the StrangerVille mystery -- Chell has created and tested the experimental vaccine for the spore infection, and she's ready to make the proper version! Two will be used on Sims around town -- one on her beloved husband, as we can't have HIM staying infected! Also, we finally had something happen with Geeker -- Dario asked him out to dinner at the Bowl-N-Skate, and I had Geeker turn it into a proper date. They got Gold, and Geeker asked Dario to be his boyfriend, so that was sweet. :) Maybe once I've completed the StrangerVille stuff, I'll have the gang take a short trip to Britechester? (Or maybe instead a day trip to Sulani; they've earned it. Or both!)
-->Did another page of edits on "Secundus 2" -- we're pulling up to the station! And none of our gang are impressed by ordinary, ground-bound trains and the amount of smoke they emit. XD They're spoiled from Doc's train and Secundus in general. . .buckle up, you lot, it's not even the most shocking thing you're gonna encounter this chapter.
-->Watched LGR's review of DC -- he's not a fan of the rabbit hole classes, but he finds the rest of the pack and its focus on other activities you can do in university to be meaty enough to justify the expansion price. So that was pretty nice. I also watched another video on how to be a super student from Carl's Sims Guides (mainly, take advantage of "Study Spots" and always do your homework!), and a "features you might have missed" video from onlyabidong (with the most info on the Secret Society I've seen yet! Now I really want to join :D)
-->Took a quick break from Sim vids to check out Plumbella playing Planet Zoo -- first time I've ever seen the avatar creation process! Looks pretty fun. She's clearly still trying to get to grips with the best way to design her zoo (her tigers and elephants kept escaping their enclosures), but she was so enthusiastic about it! It's adorable to see how much the YouTubers really love this game, seriously. It's not really MY thing, but I'll happily watch them play! :p
-->And then to wrap up the day's videos, it was time to check in with GrayStillPlays and his Sim torturing. XD Today's thing was freezing Sims to death, and it was a thing of glory, from the floating rotting hot dogs to Gray lining up a bunch of fancy toilets by the edge of the pool. XD Why is it I love other people's Sims being murdered or tortured so much, it's so antithetical to my own play style XD
-->And I just finished up doing my queue for The Valice Multiverse (quiet night!), and I've already answered one friend's PM and FINALLY left the review I've been meaning to complete for ages on another friend's fic, so I just have to finish up what's in the inbox and I'm set! Then it's off to bed for a short and hopefully largely painless week of work. Keep your fingers crossed, everybody. Night all!
