Flipping The Script On My To-Do List
Jan. 18th, 2020 09:45 pmWell, on part of it anyway. . . You see, I was going to play Fallout 4 today, as is usual every other Saturday for me. But then, as I was going along on the web, I kept going to The Sims Wiki and SimsVIP and Sims Community to look up various Sim things (such as when was the last time kids could do magic in the series (it genuinely was the first game!), what else we know about the upcoming Tiny Living pack for Sims 4 (apparently you can live EXTREMELY tiny for more bonuses), and what other features came in the recent patch (we can upgrade beds now!)). And I thought. . .you know, if I keep thinking about the Sims today. . .maybe I should -- play Sims?
So, uh, yeah, that's what I did! Made sure none of the mods I have in had been affected by the patch, then booted up the game and played through Egg Day with the Liddell-Van Dorts! They all aced the holiday, yay~ Though it took quite a lot of coordination to make sure they all got enough interaction with the social bunny, and found enough eggs. (At least their house has plenty of hiding places!) Plus I've noticed that Scraps will sometimes just stand in one place for ages until a Sim goes and interacts with him. . .poor guy nearly starved until Victor interrupted his idling by trying to take him out for a walk! Darn it, Scraps -- I think I'm gonna have to keep a closer eye on him, see if I can figure out what's going on. (Or at least see if he's able to reset via MC Command Center!) Ah well, it all worked out in the end. Even got to end the day with some coffin woohoo from Victor and Alice. XD
I also watched a bunch of videos on YouTube:
-->Started off with some "best of John Mulaney" clips, because I have heard he is funny, and -- yes, the clips proved that. XD Also helped explain some of the memes I've seen going around tumblr, so that was nice!
-->Watched the latest Atop the 4th Wall, so at least I got that off my original to-do list! Half of a Star Vs The Forces Of Evil mini-series -- the other half was canceled due to low sales. I am -- not surprised, considering that the mini-series set itself up as a "Star and her friend Marco have to get her other friend Pony Head out of trouble with the law before she's locked up forever!" plot, and then basically wandered off into as many tangents as possible with WACKY RANDOM ADVENTURES! Which -- I guess were amusing enough, but as someone who never watched the show, I found them kind of tiring, honestly. Linkara wasn't particularly impressed, and neither was I. Meeeh.
-->Swooped back up the Watch Later list to Plumbella (this was when I decided to do Sims today instead of tomorrow) and did three from her:
A) A look at MySims, that Animal Crossing clone they made where the characters are cute blocky Sims instead of animals. Plumbella accidentally named the town "MyTwn" by hitting Enter while she was trying to delete the premade name, and then made herself in MySim form and called herself "Me B*tch." XD She was very salty that she had to build her own house and workshop, when the game said that such would be provided for her. Not that she didn't enjoy building, but still. XD It seems a very simple and silly game, but fun -- wouldn't mind seeing more of it, if she's in the mood.
B) A look back at Sims 2: Open For Business, in which Plumbella managed to ruin Malcolm Landgraab's life by selling all his previous businesses, forcing him to change his hair, opening a toy shop, selling everything super-cheap, and then making him stomp on cockroaches all day while his business operated at a loss. Guy had a literal breakdown near the end of the video. XD Ah, memories. . .I should do more with the retail system in Sims 4, honestly. At least with the StrangerVille stuff done with, my time with Chell, Geeker, and Wheatley can be spent focusing on the bakery. . .
C) And back to the modern day in Sims 4 with a build challenge issued by Guru Frost himself (clearly to help promote Tiny Living) -- 32 tile house, 2 parents 1 child, $12,000, no MOO or debug. Plumbella tried (oh my God did she try) -- and actually, got everything to fit! It wasn't exactly pretty, but she got all the beds, a kitchen, a table, a TV, and even a tiny separate bathroom in. Good work, Plumbella! Now I'm curious to see what she could do with the actual pack once it comes out.
-->And then we finished off with onlyabidoang trying to kill a bunch of people via lethal jokes with his robber and henchman pair from an early mod showcase video he did. XD It took -- longer than he expected, even WITH him stacking the deck by creating a club where the whole purpose was to be funny and that had a strong Playful vibe; getting a super-Playful statue for the murder club he built; and turning his joker Sim Martin into a vampire with the "Control Emotion' power and forcing extra playfulness onto everyone in his vicinity. :p He managed it eventually, but -- well, he's no GrayStillPlays, that's for sure. XD
As for the writing portion of the to-do list -- well, that ended up being fulfilled by me totally rewriting an old prompt from Charloft for "Scenes From Secundus" -- Photo To Remember, a story based around a screenshot of Alice from A:MR's second teaser trailer. The old one was just too short and unrefined! Really, though, considering I felt pretty well out of it for a good chunk of the day, and just got my period this evening, it's commendable that I managed THAT much creativity. At least I can keep my queue going on Victor Luvs Alice!
Speaking of which, I ought to get on that -- and the queue for Valice Multiverse too. Yeah, took the night off active RP because of the aforementioned "just got my period this evening." Fortunately I'm not overwhelmed with stuff. . .should use the opportunity to finish up the damn headcanon meme, actually. First, though, comments and such. . . Night all! Fallout 4 and OXBox tomorrow for sure!
