Wound Up From Traffic
Jan. 23rd, 2020 09:44 pmBusy ride in (I dunno WHAT'S causing all the pile-ups at the last light before I hit work, but it's been bad all week), and I had to cut through the city coming home (traffic already piling up on my usual route when I left the diocese). At least during the latter I was able to sneak in a stop at the store and get my Mom's birthday card. . .still, ugh. I hate it when I can't just get in and get home. Traffic sucks and that's why I try to avoid driving any chance I get.
Work itself was all right -- more little problems, more obituaries, more trying to puzzle out duplicates and other tangled messes. . .pretty typical, really, just longer than I'd like and with more stressful moments than I want. It annoys me when a bad mood makes a short week feel longer. >( At least tomorrow's Friday, yay~ Just hoping it goes well. . .
Anyway! Got home kind of late thanks to traffic, but still managed to get a few things done:
-->Wrote some more on "Secundus 2" -- working on edits to the Gordon Tannen POV section now! Doing a quick little look at his motivations and suchlike -- basically, he hates the way the elder Van Dorts kind of flaunt their wealth, so he takes it out on Victor so he can feel like he has some power. He is -- not taking the fact that Victor isn't afraid of him anymore well. And his day's only about to get worse. . .
-->You know what really improves my mood? A GrayStillPlays marathon! Tonight's offerings included:
A) The Two Doors, where Gray was Subject 12, trying to find his way out of a maze where you must pick regularly between two doors. Ways to die include being mauled by a tiger; learning to co-exist with the tiger; dying of a joy-induced heart attack as you open the briefcase from Pulp Fiction; and literally running into death. Also, a banana is the most powerful item in the game. No joke. Gray was as confused as anyone.
B) Human Simulator, where Gray was Hugh Mann, a -- well, the GAME doesn't seem to explain, or perhaps the explanation is hidden in a part of the game Gray didn't show. But Gray went with "he is an android," and you have to pretend to be human to progress, starting off with a job interview and continuing on through an actual job. This is made harder by the fact Hugh can't speak -- only stare at things, nod or shake his head (to -- frightening levels of twistiness), and move his arms in a very limited manner. Despite this, he got through the interview and got to be a crane operator. A crane operate that dumps things in the sea and kills safety inspectors on his boss's orders. XD It was a delight.
C) Conversation With a Rock, where Gray was a young girl named Sarah, talking with a rock. The rock never speaks, but Sarah can say some pretty weird shit, claiming she discovered the Titanic, that she wrote the lyrics to "I Will Always Love You," that she can eat 150 hot dogs in a row. . .you can even give her a personalized dark secret! Gray went with sleepover murder, because Gray. Also there's at least one meta branch where the game acknowledges the rock COULD talk if the developer had wanted it to, buuuuut. . . XD Very weird, but Gray spent longer on it than he expected, so -- a win?
D) Hell's Pharma, where Gray was a new pharmacist in Hell, tasked with giving medicine to demons to help cure their ailments. Naturally, Gray tried to poison them with overdoses of giraffe spit and and eyeball goop. He never actually managed to succeed in killing Demon Kermit or Woman With A Fish Face, but he DID give a batch of bad medicines to the leader of the demon armies and may have lost a war for them, so -- we'll call it good. :p
E) Another session of Altlife, where Gray started trying to get DELIBERATELY CAUGHT at murder so he could see how long his jail sentence could be extended. It -- kind of worked, as he discovered that a) constantly murdering people stops time from passing (you have to actually press the Age button to, you know, age) and b) you can take out as many bank loans as you want, with no consequences! So basically he bought a super-nice house, a super-nice car, killed loads of people, and had his prison sentence extended near-infinitely while he still got to take nice vacations. XD
-->FINALLY finished that headcanon meme! Came up with some answers that satisfied me for the ones that were giving me trouble, and threw it in the queue! Hopefully I don't immediately contradict any of it in a thread or something XD It's just -- those memes are hard when you have a) two main muses, and b) multiple verses that might influence the answers. (For example, one question was if they've ever used a gun -- for most Victor and Alice pairs, that's a no, but the Catch Us!pair probably have, and I know for a fact Londerland Bloodlines!Alice has too. Don't know about that Victor yet. . .) Good to have it completed at last!
And now I have to get the comments in my inbox sorted and work on getting to bed. One more day. . .and then a cleaning Saturday, but what can one do? At least I get to have leftover pizza for lunch tomorrow. :) Night all!
