A Touch Of Thirteenth
Mar. 13th, 2020 11:00 pmMainly in the fact that, no matter what I do, I can't just watch two straight hours of "Vein Pursuit." There is always some sort of interruption. Though I didn't help myself either by starting later than planned, with me getting obsessed trying to find this one certain mod on a Simmer I follow's Patreon. . .it did have to do with vampires, at least. (Specifically, it was part of a larger mod they did, and has vampires get new special buffs from feeding on other occults, like mermaids, aliens, and spellcasters. It's pretty cool.) Anyway, I started the episode shortly before three, stopped a little after four for a snack break --
And then Mom asked me if I wanted to go to the park and take a walk, as the sun had finally come out after a day of rain and it was actually decently warm enough to go outside.
I briefly considered turning her down, but -- well, I wanted the exercise, and you guys know I prefer to go outside to get it if I can. *nods* So out we went, and actually had a pretty decent five-mile walk up the street, over and through one of the little local parks, and then back home again. Certainly earned my cookies and ice cream today! XD But yeah, after that I definitely needed a shower, and then shortly after THAT it was time for dinner, so -- yeah, I didn't actually FINISH the episode until about eight o'clock. *sigh* Still good stuff, though! The coeterie managed to find a safe place to stay to avoid the sun, and stumbled (with a touch of railroading -- Outstar's character was TRYING to use one of her contacts to get them a ride, but there was just nothing to be found) into a tiny trailer park town, called Dust Wells, where the Toreador of the group, Della, ended up putting her manipulative skills to work and got them a minivan and camper and two entranced humans to help them get back on their feet and chasing their biker foes! It was a little hard to hear everyone at times, I had to say -- but fortunately, I noticed other complaints in the comments about this sort of thing, so hopefully it was addressed going forward. Guess we'll find out when I watch the third episode!
I also managed to fit in my Bloodlines playing -- we've started "Society for the Preservation of Professors" and the endgame stuff! Alice made good use of her Obfuscate to get into the building, then -- as she was starting to run low on blood -- switched to more aggressive tactics once inside. She also made sure to save Ash, which was a little easier than normal thanks to having a fantastic lockpicking skill (when she's in the right outfit, anyway). I parked her outside the entrance to the Bach boss fight. For the story notes, Alice is largely going to rely on Obfuscate to get the stuff she needs, as at the beginning she's trying not to slaughter all the hunters. . .and then she sees Ash and sees the sadistic torture they've inflicted on him, and decides she cares rather less if these people live or die. :p Ash is also going to be around for the escape, as I've decided his Celerity is what helps her and Johansen get out of there. Of course, in-story, this won't be for a while yet, but still. Good to have the notes.
I even got in a couple of extra videos this evening! Both from Call Me Kevin:
A) A video on horrible dating game apps -- the best one was the first one, which was really just a driving simulator with some vague "dating" elements pasted on -- and also, if the car hit anything, it flipped around wildly in midair, which was fantastic. XD Main reason I watched it was because the thumbnail featured a vampire boyfriend -- which turned out to be just a dumb app where you could give your virtual boyfriend something to turn him into a vampire, without any of the attendant "vampire romance" tropes. >( Ah well. . .
B) And another video on Lakeview Valley -- the game that's sort of a Stardew Valley rip-off, but with more murder. And swords, as Kevin discovered. And evil tree demons selling you parts of the hud, an inventory, and infinite stamina upgrades. And weird monsters like pigmen wandering around at night. It's a very weird game, is what I'm saying.
And now here I am, updating this after catching up on webcomics and writing my "Londerland Bloodlines" notes before doing the Friday Night Writing Thing. Tomorrow -- hmmm. I was going to do GrayStillPlays and Fallout 4, but given my morning was mostly spent looking up Sims 4 mods, maybe I should instead catch up on the new "Super Sim" livestreams James has been doing on his other channel and play that instead. *nods* I'll see how I feel tomorrow -- one or the other shall happen! But until then, g'night!
