Very Fallout-y Tuesday
Apr. 21st, 2020 11:29 pmI am officially getting probably way into this game. XD But what can I say, I have rediscovered its fun side, when it isn't railing me with super mutant attacks on Oberland station. My Fallout 4-themed content of the day:
-->Watched two lore videos by a guy named Oxhorn (who looks to have done a TON on the subject) -- one about Nate and Nora, the couple from whom you pick your Sole Survivor, and their history (it was cool to see some of the stuff from the prologue that I missed, having not activated everything when I had the chance, and some of the cut content regarding their backstory -- apparently Nora was preparing to fight a pretty big case as a lawyer, to go with Nate giving his speech at the Veteran's Hall!); and one on the theory that the Sole Survivor could be a synth duplicate instead of the actual person (he came up with some pretty interesting evidence pointing to the Survivor being a synth -- I'm not using that for my own Victor, he's all human, but it makes for some great fanfic fuel!). Probably gonna be picking at these for a while -- I quite enjoyed these two!
-->Obviously, played the game, and discovered the treasures of Jamaica Plain! Which was easier than expected, because I had the mayor's ID and password, allowing me to bypass every security measure and just waltz right into the time capsule room! Yeah, that's the treasure -- history! A whole room of things like cameras, old medical equipment, sports memorabilia, and the like. According to the janitor terminal, she co-opted a lot of maintenance funds for this -- dunno why she thought it needed such powerful security, but here we are. I actually left most of the stuff alone, as I felt like the place should be largely preserved -- but I did take the baseball bat, as it's a unique weapon, and the stuff in the first aid kit. Can never have enough healing! Preston also had another little affinity chat with Victor, asking if telling him about his suicidal urges before they started working together was a bit too much -- I had Victor reassure him it wasn't, and that he values their friendship. Awww -- you may constantly give me quests, Preston, but you're a good guy, seriously. :)
After that, I spent some time trying to figure out how to set up Jamaica Plain as a settlement before reporting back to Sunshine Tidings -- the build area on it is ABYSMAL. It's like ONE HOUSE in the middle of town, along with a nearby car park. There's almost no dirt, so there's basically no place to grow food, and no place to put any other buildings. I made the best of what I had -- I managed to fit two beds and three sleeping bags in the covered bedroom at the top of the house (had to scrap a crib to do it, which I imagined made Victor feel sad), found a chunk of dirt to put a motorized water pump and generator on, and set up a few defenses. Had to pop by the Abernathy's place to get fertilizer so I could set up some garden plots so there would actually be FOOD available, though. *grumbles* But it was worth -- at least anyone who DOES end up there will have basic necessities!
Speaking of which, going back to Sunshine Tidings involved some upkeep there -- new settlers have been arriving, so I had to both add more food plants and more beds to keep up with demand. And then Preston's next quest was to defend the Abernathy Farm from Gunners -- we hoofed it over there, since it wasn't far, and ended up having to kill two roaming packs of Rust Devils, some bloatflies, and some Radroaches (including one Legendary) on the way. The Abernathy quest was quick in theory, but took two tries in execution -- all they really needed was me to be on site to fend up a small group of Gunners, as I'd already provided them with two turrets. I somehow failed the quest the first time, though -- I'm guessing somebody managed to get killed? At any rate, I had a recent save, so I reloaded, moved the turrets to a better position before talking to Blake, and then successfully killed the Gunners. There's apparently now Super Mutants menacing a DIFFERENT settlement -- gonna pop over there, try to take care of that, and then I'm taking a break from Minutemen stuff! Love you, Preston, but I do actually have to do some non-related quests, and get other companions to like me. XD Though I AM thinking of taking him to Quincy to kill the Gunners there, simply because -- well, feels appropriate.
-->Watched The Silver Shroud vs the Mechanist from the Fluffy Ninja Llama! All the unique lines from that particular confrontation if you have the right costume. It was -- less fun that I thought it would be? There's some nice ham-to-ham combat at the very beginning, but once the Mechanist removes her helmet. . .well, staying in character seems sort of -- rude. I actually really feel for her -- she seems like she needs a hug. Fortunately I also now know I can let her live, so that's good.
-->And wrote up some notes on Sole Survivor!Victor, now that I'm getting a clearer idea of the backstory I want him to have. Need that for a Thursday post!
In NON-Fallout-themed stuff:
-->Caught an XBox list about game worlds that ended up wrecked after you heroed your way through them (which, uh, actually DID have an entry regarding Fallout 3 and the city of Megaton -- basically, involving you being a bastard and blowing the place up); Linkara's latest round of Comic Book Quickies (the Cosmic Cube can do ANYTHING -- except resist the taste of delicious Hostess Twinkies); and Call Me Kevin showing off the kind of music he likes (ridiculous remixes of Simpsons episodes top the list, I approve XD). Good stuff!
-->Wrote some more on "Secundus 2" chapter 7 -- we had the obligatory "I shame Burtonsville for existing" section, and now Clara has arrived with her "broken" telescope. Time to have some fun with flirting! XD
-->Did my Newcrest Adventures queue for tomorrow on my Victor Luvs Alice tumblr, and I'm finishing up the last asks on my Valice Multiverse one now.
So that's that! Tomorrow we're back to Sims 4 stuff -- gotta catch up on that stuff, see what I want to do in-game, hunt down more custom content, and generally have a good time. And go to bed earlier, because again, work day on Thursday. :p Night all!
