Relaxed Sims Friday
Apr. 24th, 2020 11:28 pmWeather outside was icky as all hell, so it was a good day to stay inside, watch some videos, and look for Sims 4 custom content. I'll give you the bullet points version, as not a heck of a lot happened today, and I am due to start the Friday Night Writing Things soon:
-->Spent the morning watching a few Fallout-related videos, including two on the saddest stories across the later games (it's the nuclear apocalypse, but things can always get more depressing!), and one on a mention of the Enclave (the remnants of the evilest parts of the US Military in that timeline) in the Far Harbor expansion for Fallout 4. My usual stuff~
-->Checked out a video a tumblr peep linked me regarding Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog and how it holds up eleven years or so later. . .basically, the takeaway was "this miniseries can't decide whether it's uncritically presenting Billy as a Nice Guy (tm) and hoping we'll like him, or shaming him and his attitudes -- it's got good points and bad points. But the music slaps, so that's in its favor." *nods*
-->Also checked out Jay's latest attempt at the Yandere Simulator Alphabet Killer Challenge -- it wasn't a good run. He got like ONE farther on from his previous record, poor guy. XD I expect to see many, many more frustrated videos like this one -- he keeps saying he's going to stop, and then. . .
-->Played some low-key Sims 4 today -- mostly revolving around Andy trying to make friends with a stray cat he'd met, Sprig, so I could adopt him. They are officially Good Friends, but the option to adopt never came up. *grumbles* I'm not sure why -- I'm thinking it might have something to do with them having done all this on their home lot, or Sprig being sick and thus not in a good mood. I intend to try again the next time I play the family, going to a different lot and then summoning Sprig to see what happens. If necessary, I'll use MC Command Center to add him to the family, as I have Decided on this cat and will not be denied at this point. XD
-->Also put some more of my custom content into the game, and spent probably longer than I should browsing all sorts of cool "conversions from previous Sims games into 4" stuff and the like after I played. :D And I found some more Fallout content! Specifically, I picked up some more clutter (4 and New Vegas), some rusty playground equipment (3), some diner stuff (3), and some decorative Nuka-Cola bottles and a Vault-Boy bobblehead (4)! :D I was really happy to find the Nuka-Cola bottles -- I love the rocket bottles in 4, and really really wanted some to put around the place. (Frustratingly, I also stumbled across drinkable Nuka-Colas while searching for content. . .but the person who made them has their Sims 4 section under payment lock and key. And their site design did not fill me with confidence in regards to paying for anything on there. A shame, that would have been cool. . .but I'll settle for decorative and not worrying about my credit card being compromised!)
-->Watched a couple of LilSimsie videos -- her tackling Plumbella's evil shell challenge (with all the weird little boxes around the main building, and the triangle section on top -- Kayla actually managed to make it a pretty decent little house, turning the triangle section into a cramped toddler room. And then she hid ducks all over it to annoy Plumbella XD), and her doing the "build a house and each room has to be a different pack" challenge (she -- didn't QUITE follow the rules, as she picked a pack, then chose a room, and refused to landscape the outside with Romantic Garden Stuff. But she still had to do a room in nothing but Spooky Stuff, so that was pretty great XD).
-->Got in a workout, go me~
-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Alice has finished getting all the information she needs from Knox (including the surprise tidbit Trip sells weapons), and has headed upstairs to meet with Therese. Only to overhear an argument between her and Jeannette and wonder if this is a bad time. . .Therese told her come in when she knocked, though, so. . . Time to do business and see what can be done about Tung.
-->Caught up with a couple V:tM videos -- Outstar explaining the Banu Haqim, the clan formerly known as the Assamites (the clan of law, justice, and judging -- or, as other Kindred still kind of know them as, the clan of "those assholes who love diablerie and will assassinate you as soon as look at you." XD It was interesting stuff, though -- I like these lore videos, they're very informative); and some guy doing a pretty hilarious "summary" of Bloodlines (the Ankaran Sarcophagus is presented as a "loot crate" everyone wants, for example XD). Good times!
-->And then wrapped up YouTubery with James's latest Planet Zoo episode! Yes, that has returned -- this time with guest rides! There's a cool gondola ride over the entire park, and James set up a Jeep ride that takes you right into the heart of the Africa exhibit! That is, when animals aren't sleeping on the tracks. XD Fun stuff -- he's talking about adding a South America section to sort of "finish out" this zoo, then maybe moving onto another one so he can try different modes and maps, and put all the stuff he's learned running this zoo to good use.
-->And finally did my queue for Valice Multiverse -- nothing for me to answer, so I just slapped up some cool fanart/storyboards. I'm allowed!
And now it's time for the Thing -- I shall be off! Fallout 4 weekend, since I didn't get a chance to play on Thursday. *thumbs up* Night all!
