More Productive Day At The Office
May. 13th, 2020 11:21 pmFINALLY got the GL situation sorted; got all the GFGP checks onto the system and remote deposited; took care of a few phone calls. Not too shabby for four hours, I think -- and tomorrow should go even quicker, what with the worst of the GL nonsense over with. I hope, anyway. . . At least now I feel like I'm getting stuff DONE. And the "homework" today wasn't too bad either -- it's not so horrible if I'm expecting it, though it's still not my favorite thing. At least I could focus on something that was sent via e-mail, instead of something I needed to truck home! Though I also found Lysol spray at work, so anything that DOES get trucked home now gets spritzed. It'll make me feel better. I've been having Anxiety (tm) about COVID and some of the horrible ways it can apparently manifest, so lots of hand sanitizer and disinfectants and the like is the only way to help keep me calm.
That and finding lots of distractions so my brain can't dwell on things! Today's distractions included:
-->Going out for a walk after my workday officially ended -- it was actually halfway decent out! Needed a hoodie to keep warm against the wind, and as usual I only did laps around my yard (I REALLY didn't want to put the mask back on after wearing it for so long in the office), but it was still nice to get some fresh air and just be out on my own terms. And tomorrow's supposed to be even nicer! :) Friday -- warm but rainy, apparently. Meeeeh.
-->Worked some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Ocean House currently has a bit of a "Deluded Depths" vibe for Alice, though I imagine it'll end up transitioning to more of a Fire and Brimstone one once the husband ghost starts lashing out more and the mystical fire starts. Alice is making the best of things for now, though she's starting to work her way into the more creepy bits. Like that laundry room moment -- ooh boy. . .
-->Tonight's YouTube was almost entirely Plumbella-based:
A) Building a house in Sims 4 in alphabetical order – that is, she had to go bathroom, bedrooms, decorations, floors, kitchen, living room, etc. . .all before putting up the WALLS. "Move Objects On" was used, abused, and eventually proved to be not-that-great. XD She SOMEHOW made a decently cute modern house, but man, it was looking a bit iff for a while there!
B) The sequel to the "build a house but each room has to be a different pack" challenge in Sims 4 – the "make a sim but each outfit category has to be a different pack" challenge! Jesse used CAS Stories to make Autumn, who – thanks to some interesting randomization – is a shoeless waitress in her real life, wears lots of pets-themed stuff to work out, and swans about in evening gowns with big cut-outs in winter. XD Kind of want to do that with a Sim myself, just for funsies. . .
C) Another quick trip to RTGame's channel to watch him and Plumbella cause absolute chaos in LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 XD They made it through the Prisoner of Azkaban level with a lot of bitching from RT about things like how the chocolate Lupin hands out is literally just giant slabs of LEGO, and Plumbella "mounting" all the things. Including a sled while playing as Harry and Fred and George, making it her life's mission to run over RT no matter where he is. XD Love it~
D) Back to MySims with MySims Kingdom – on the DS, as Plumbella couldn't get the Wii version. It's – not very kingdomy, I have to say. Sure, there's a king as a character, but otherwise it's your bog-standard MySims town. With an incompetent mayor who loses the main character's house key to boot. Poor Plumbella was NOT having it, let me tell you. At least Dr. F is fun – always gotta love a mad scientist. :D
E) And then we just had Plumbella getting her salt on with a video about how EA and Maxis have NEVER been able to build a good house in the mainline Sims games, with numerous examples from Sims 1 and 2 (plus everyone's favorite Strangerville copy-paste from 4). It's – kind of amazing just how BAD some of these houses are when you look back at them! I mean, seriously, did ANYONE ever know what was going on with the Meshuga house? XD
F) And of course I snuck in a Fluffy Ninja Llama video on Fallout 4 – this one on discovering a "personal synth" in the Institute, whom the Benets are integrating into their family. It's kind of sad to say to her that it'll make no difference to what she is, a machine built to serve, and see her stammer and say that she hopes to be something more than that one day. Hugs for all the synths. :(
-->And I'm currently working on my Victor Luvs Alice queue, after quite a bit of time spent catching up on my tumblr tags. Want to see if I can at least get up my second Friday post before I go to bed. Always good to be a little ahead! Also have to answer the comment in my inbox. . .
And that's about it for now, really. Just gotta get through tomorrow's time at the office, and then I'll have another work-at-home day and the weekend! Yes, Saturday and Sundays are really going to start meaning something to me again now. XD God, this year has been absolutely mental, hasn't it? And we're still in the thick of it. . . *sigh* I hope you're all doing well and staying safe. Night all!
