Trying To Keep It Quick Because Tired
Jun. 15th, 2020 11:32 pmI didn't sleep well last night (woke up in the middle of the night with an awful neck cramp from laying funny and mysteriously too hot; had to turn on both a fan and my music to get to sleep again despite being EXHAUSTED) and my evening's been less-well-scheduled than intended, soo -- bullet points!
-->Work was okay, though with more annoyances that I would have liked. At least I was able to fix most of the problems presented to me, AND get on a bunch of regular gifts as well. Just -- plugging away, doing my best.
-->Played the beanbag game after work -- I actually won TWICE! Now that was a shocker. And in the first game, I managed to get THREE bags in the holes! Two right in a row, then the third after a miss. So that was satisfying, at least. :)
-->Wrote up the draft of the other gift fic I needed to get ready for the end of this month -- just a simple silly thing. Figured the best thing to do this week would be to switch my "Londerland Bloodlines" writing days with gift fic writing and editing, since I'm between chapters on LB anyway and this'll let me get those done without impeding progress on "Secundus 2."
-->Caught up on my Linkara this evening:
A) 1st issue of DC's Challenge, where the idea was 12 separate creative teams, without talking to each other, and using whatever DC characters they wanted, would try to create a coherent narrative over the length of a short series, ending each issue on a cliffhanger the next team had to solve. This led to a very weird opening issue with demons exploding from people's bodies, two staffers on the Daily Planet running into deceased stars of yesteryear (Humphrey Bogart and Groucho Marx, to be specific!), Superman getting attacked by a mysterious person on the moon, and Batman discovering what he thought was a plot by the Riddler is actually an alien using his mansion as ground zero for a stolen nuclear device. I -- have no idea how this will all get resolved in issue 2. Especially since Linkara already revealed not everyone played ball with the "have to create a coherent narrative" part of the challenge. . .
B) Another bunch of episodes from the Sentai series that provided the footage for the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, focusing on the death of their Green Ranger and some of the aftermath. Having only ever been a fan of the Power Rangers as a kid, the main attraction for me were the goofy people-in-monster-suits tearing down obviously cardboard buildings in the fight sequences. XD But it seems like a solid series, and I'm sure the death of the Green Ranger meant a lot to the fans, so. . .
C) The end of the terrible miniseries Trouble! Which, if you don't remember, is Mark Millar attempting to claim that Peter Parker was the result of a teenage pregnancy May had while cheating on her boyfriend Ben with her best friend's boyfriend Richie, and that said best friend Mary took the baby to raise. Yeah, it's as horrible as it sounds -- especially in this final issue, which had Mary wishing some truly horrible things on May as she tried to escape an abusive situation. It ended "happily," with Mary and Richie taking Peter and getting married, and May and Ben on the road to getting together, but ugh. Linkara was clearly glad to be done with the horrible thing.
-->And then the rest of my evening has been catching up on tumblr tags (and, uh, getting a bit lost in reading a Fallout 4 comic I found in the tags) and webcomics. Time to answer the comments in the inbox, get SOMETHING up in the queue for Victor Luvs Alice, and go to bed. And hope I manage to sleep a lot more soundly tonight. I need it. *sigh* Night all!
