Productive Thursday!
Jul. 30th, 2020 11:02 pmAs in, I posted all the gifts, checks and otherwise, that we had gotten in, and I took care of all the write-offs and other changes that needed to happen. Maybe I didn't get quite as much done as I was hoping to, but that's still a very good chunk of my workload, and I am satisfied with it. I declare that I can enjoy my long vacation guilt-free! :D AND, come Monday, my coworkers will be back from furlough! They're finally bringing the rest of the employees in! I have -- slightly mixed feelings on this, given that I could quite desperately use the help, but I have my Paranoia (tm) about being around too many people in the office. . .but we'll just have to find a way to make it work. At least the first week back with full staff is also followed by a long weekend. . .
But yeah, work was pretty solid and not too stressful, and the same could be said of my afternoon:
-->Did another workout, go me -- earned having a brownie with milk tonight :p (Brownie was nice, but chewier than I expected. O.o I get the feeling it'll go better with ice cream. . .)
-->Watched the first episode of Series 7 of Taskmaster on the YouTube, since that went up today. My family's been watching the show regularly during this whole mess, and it is a lot of fun, and Series 7 looks like a real winner, just because we have both James Acaster (chaos extraordinaire) and Rhod Gilbert (determined to spend as much time as possible making fun of Greg and/or Alex) on the show. More reasons to look forward to Thursdays!
-->Did some more work on Chapter 11 of "Secundus 2" -- the gang has sighted the train Barkis and Buford have hijacked! . . .Just in time for it to suddenly leap forward as something explodes inside of it! Yes, as will become obvious in just a moment to the characters, Barkis managed to get his hands on Doc's Presto-Logs, and so the trick now is to rescue the girls before the boiler explodes in the train. And the stakes are going to get even higher soon, since -- well, I assume most of you have seen BTTF III. Where do you think that train is pointed?
-->YouTube Times!
A) Started with some WALL*E clips – one of the scene where Captain McCrea accesses EVE's camera "memories" and sees what state the Earth is in (and EVE sees WALL*E doing his best to take care of her while she's in stasis and starts realizing just how much she cares for him), and one that's basically just a compilation of great M-O moments XD Because we all love our tiny little cleaner bot! (Mom and Dad actually agreed to watch the movie with me over lunch tomorrow, so that's nice! We're hoping to get in the beanbag game afterwards too, depending on the weather. Fingers crossed!)
B) Then moved onto Call Me Kevin-related videos:
1. Someone's animatic of Kevin singing the "Normal Guy" song (like the "Spider-Man" song, only less superheroic) as based off what I assume is him playing one of the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man games. Very fun, and a good showcase of Kevin's excellent singing voice!
2. "The Great Dear Leader Jim Pickens" doing a compilation of Kevin clips that might be appropriate for different life stages – for varying definitions of "appropriate," of course. XD Featuring the now hilariously infamous clip of him kicking the Babysitting Mama baby – sorry, Kevin, but that clip is never going to die now. XD
C) And then it was time for Kevin himself! Featuring:
1. Video games by PETA! . . .Kevin, why are you doing this to yourself? Seriously, he went through what I believe is the whole catalog on their website – from classics such such as "Super Tanooki Skin 2D" to the latest "Pokemon Black & Blue." All depressing, hard, and covered in blood from Mario flying around in his tanooki skin. The things Kevin does so we don't have to. . .
2. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout – an online multiplayer game show, apparently? It's themed around those goofy game shows where you have to run around avoiding obstacles and doing weird tasks like gathering eggs to store in a nest for your team. Kevin had a very strong start (coming in first to qualify on the very first task in his first run), but the poor guy always ended up eliminated in the last round. Usually by falling into slime. I think he came fourth in his second playthrough, which was definitely his best showing. He definitely gave it his all – and it was a lot of fun to watch his little character running around wildly trying to navigate seesaws and avoid slime. XD
3. Another episode of Ooblets! Kevin's little Ooblet family is growing (literally, given that you grow them from seeds you plant) – he now has his original, which he has named Grimbles; two Lumpystumps (Stumpy and currently unnamed), and a Clickyclaws (Moody Bastard, because well, these things never stop scowling). He spent most of the episode doing odd jobs and farming to earn the money (or gummies) to buy himself a sweet fanny pack! And also he had to reupgrade his house because he had to reset his computer recently and lost his original save file. These things happen. But yes, I am enjoying the adventures of Big Man and his strange little family. Looking forward to more!
4. And another episode of The Sims 4! Kevin has the Nifty Knitting stuff pack, and Jim is getting back up to his old tricks – namely, tricking people into moving in with him and then imprisoning them in the basement. This time, the basement exists beneath his new retail store, and the prisoners are expected to knit things for it! XD The prisoners include the recent lottery winner (who was pregnant and ended up giving birth to TRIPLETS), and the child from the family Jim moved in with and partially slaughtered (who turned out to be a knitting prodigy! He's already at level 5!). The store had a slow start, but business is really picking up as Sims clamor to buy the outfit that Jim has for sale – a beanie and a pair of socks! No, seriously, that's it – beanie, pair of socks, Sim underwear. What else does one need in the middle of summer? XD Kevin's having loads of fun getting the townies to show it all off in their beanies and socks – it's nice to see him so happy about getting back to Sim basics.
-->Just completed my Valice Multiverse queue for the evening (few asks, the usual), and Wyrd Sisters posted their latest video to their tumblr, so I was able to reblog it for my Victor Luvs Alice queue. :) Keepin' on top of things. . . Also answered an anon ask from a writer doing their own Valice fic looking for some writing advice -- which FORTUNATELY I looked at my activity feed, because tumblr didn't let me know I had an ask the usual way. -.- Seriously, the site gets to be more and more of a trash fire with each new update. . .
And now -- well, that's about it for the moment! Gonna go answer my DW comment, and then the night is pretty much mine to work with! Dunno what I'm gonna DO with it yet -- experience suggests either end up reading TV Tropes or Not Always Right, or maybe watch some more random videos on YouTube (I know where to source more WALL*E clips in preparation for the movie tomorrow). But hey, I can hang out, I can sleep in, life is good right now. :p Gonna try and enjoy this three-day weekend to the fullest. Which includes movie, Fallout 4, and probably the latest episode of "Event Comics Month" over on Atop the 4th Wall tomorrow. *nods* Night all!
