crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

Aside from my generalized Anxiety Over 2020 (patent pending), Dad's computer had an update that apparently screwed up one of his picture programs, so he was grumpy about that all morning, which didn't do great things for my mood either. And of course I'm on my period, so that didn't help. . . I ended up spending a good portion of the day reading somebody's Harry Potter meta on tumblr. *shrug* I get distracted easily? And THEN I ended up having to restart my computer this evening because it was running like ASS for no reason I could discern. . . *heavy sigh* I mean, the thing is coming up on six years old. It's probably time to start thinking about a replacement. I just wish I didn't have to think about it during 2020. . .

That being said, some good stuff happened today too, and I got my to-do list from the other day accomplished:

-->Last night's attempt at last-night writing turned into starting on an Official Timeline for my Fallout!Victor, so I could figure out when the key events in his pre-game life happened. The Fallout Wiki has a convenient timeline for all of this, and I have been making good use of it. Got up to when he was first drafted into the Army -- now I just have to cover the rest of the time up until the bombs drop!

-->Had a nice parfait for breakfast with fresh fruit, which is always nice -- I can't do it too often, because I'll burn through all my yogurt, but as a treat for long weekends? Yes please.

-->Did the beanbag game with the folks -- didn't win any of the games (Dad took them all), but I managed second once! Me and Mom had a shootout over it since we kept tying. That was fun. XD

-->As stated, today was the GrayStillPlays Marathon on YouTube! We had:

1. Hell Architect – yup, the rare game that Gray will happily play by the book, because it's all about designing your own little chunk of Hell, where you can torture people to your heart's content. And even with things like Iron Maidens and the Bath of Kings (aka boiling people alive), Gray STILL found ways to torture people even more (namely, by making them dig big pits that they couldn't get out of it, then not allowing them to go to the bathroom). XD Perfect, pure Gray.

2. More Project Hospital – An "Infectious Diseases" DLC is out (natch), and Gray has decided that everyone and everything must be isolated! XD Doesn't matter what your symptoms are or how you're feeling, you WILL go to the isolation unit. On the roof. Often floating in midair as the game allowed him to build there. People came in tennis elbow and DIED after lying in their isolation bed. And despite this, Gray kept completing objectives and getting government money! He was very pleased. XD (Insert your own joke about the state of the world here)

3. More Henry Stickmin Collection: Completing the Mission – We've done pretty much all we can with Ellie, now it's time to have fun with Charles the helicopter pilot! Though he only ended up starring in one of the routes, where he and Henry worked together to take down the airship and to get Henry out of the prison. This time, they worked together to stop that rocket (which involved literally using a red herring at one point) and become special ops agents together! Not after many, many fails involving Henry's death or embarrassment, though. . . And then there was the route where Henry ain't interested in taking down the Toppat Clan – just stealing all their shit with a super-powered vacuum and then bailing in a gold car! XD It was delightful, and I really hope he ends up doing all the endings now.

4. Mutilate A Doll 2 – One of those "torture this vague approximation of a person" games, aka Gray's bread and butter. Gray had a lot of fun creating lots of fun little torture devices, like a sawblade driven by jet spikes! Or a sawblade with AK-47s strapped to it that all fire on a trigger! Or the Wall of Combat Shotguns! And then he proceeded to torture the game by spawning in waaaaay too many ragdolls to count, until the fps was like nil. XD Love you, Gray, never change!

5. More Sims 4 – He has done ascents, so today's challenge was all about a DESCENT into the bowels of hell! Specifically, running Sims through a multiple-level hell maze to reach a bunker where they could actually sort of live. All while dealing with an increasing number of pool squares, laid out by Gray. Our newest member, Peasus, ended up winning – mostly because she glitched through an entire floor and managed to take the lead. XD Actually, the entire game was a hilarious glitchfest – Florida Man walked on water, then figured out how to teleport from pool square to pool square to take the lead at one point (before Peasus one-upped him) – and then he died on the final level, but his ghost kept walking. XD Only Peasus having a commanding lead kept him from winning. Ellis Dee and Bab Ross both died and "evaporated" along the way, and SOMEHOW Erwin Pries from Strangerville ended up inside the hellscape. Gray actually thought he was a glitched-out Florida Man for a second! XD And now a bunch of comments are calling for Gray to add him to the family, so we'll see what happens with that.

-->I ended up playing Fallout 4 thanks to last night's timeline binge and just generally thinking about it a lot -- threw in the "We Are The Minutemen" mod and reverted to an earlier save with Preston to see what it brought to the table!

. . .I don't think I got an accurate test. You see, while I was able to ascertain that the mod's effects did seem to be properly in the game (I didn't get any new Minutemen quests with one already in my list, and the command table that you can use to "craft" Minutemen and related stuff was in the Workbench), I also had a SHOCKING amount of lag. Loading screens took EMBARRASSINGLY long times, I suffered from a lot of stutter and texture pop-in (the textures of the settler I was supposed to talk to to end the quest never actually loaded), and generally the game ran like ass. However, I don't know if I can blame that on the mod, because this is around the time that my computer in general started running like ass. So I don't know if the poor performance was the mod's fault, or my computer's. (My internet has been acting up today too, which hasn't helped matters.) I'm going to have to test this again either tomorrow or Saturday and see what happens. (Ironically, I WANT it to be my computer having a bad day, because I was looking forward to this mod, and I still have two more big ones to add!)

On the plus side, I replayed a mission I'd done before about eliminating a super mutant camp threatening some settlers, and I took down TWO super-mutants with sneak attack headshots from my sniper rifle! One of which was one of those horrible Suiciders (the kind that run at you with an active nuke)! So I am quite proud of myself there. :) Took a little more to clear out the remaining bastards, but still. Yay feeling accomplished about something!

-->And I did my writing on "Secundus 2" Chapter 12 -- the gang has returned to the train station, and Mayor Gillin has promptly banished Doc and Marty from the town. Which Doc and Marty are taking in stride, because they're planning on moving back to Secundus anyway. And the McFlys are like, "yeaaah, can't say we didn't see that coming." XD Granted, there's still some arguing to be done with the mayor, but we're about ready to wrap up our stay in the Wild West. I'm sure all my characters are thrilled.

And now I just have to finish up answering comments and doing queue-stuff on Valice Multiverse, then it's off to bed for tomorrow's half-day! And aren't I glad it's just a half-day. . .going back to full-length Fridays once we're past Labor Day is gonna be kinda tough. Especially given my current reasons to hate going to work. . . *sigh* How many more months to go?

Don't answer that. Night all!
