Yeah, no chance of beanbag game today -- it was dark and rainy all day (a SLIGHT hint of clearing shortly after lunch, but that was it), so we just hung around the house, watching old episodes of QI with our meals and suchlike. All right by me, really -- like I said yesterday, day off is a day off. And my period is finally wrapping up, so. . .

It has been kind of a distracted evening, though, so let me try to bring you up to speed as quick as I can:

-->Treated myself to a parfait for breakfast this morning, along with more TV Tropes (reading funny moments from Many A True Nerd's videos, which is a good way to start the day in my opinion XD)

-->Spent most of the day watching YouTube:

A) Started off with a Jay from the Kubz Scouts video on 60 Seconds! (you know, the game where you have to try and get a family rescued from their fallout shelter after the apocalypse?), where he tried out a self-created Among Us challenge (must always have food and water, Ted must survive, family members getting sick makes them 'sus' and they must be allowed to die, Ted getting sick is also 'sus' but he's allowed to use the medkit ONCE as an "emergency meeting," and they must get the military ending). It – did not go well. XD Four attempts, and he was either stymied by running out of water and food (which was a game over according to his rules), or Ted getting sick without the option to use the medkit. His scavengers constantly coming back with poor hauls did not help. Ah well. . .honestly, I think if he's doing an Among Us challenge, he should be doing it in the space-themed 60 Parsecs!, but that's just me.

B) Speaking of Among Us, The Spiffing Brit found a truly terrible new exploit for it! It involves taking advantage of the fact that a) there is a "public beta" branch of the game, where the developers try new stuff, and b) if you're using this branch, you can still play with people using the "normal" version of the game. Get a friend to set up a lobby, make sure you're the second person in the lobby, have said friend leave so you can take control of the lobby, and then you can change the rules of the game for just beta users – aka, probably just YOU. Spiff was running around at three times speed, had only ONE task he had to do (as opposed to multiple, as is usual), and could kill quickly from long distances. It was mad – and since Spiff isn't a complete asshole, he also told the devs "yeah, PATCH THIS FIRST." He likes exploiting games, but single player games – he's not one to make enemies of all his friends with this bullshit!

C) Then a sort of double-feature for Linkara starting the Halloween season:

1. In making sure I hadn't missed an episode, I found the trailer for October 2020 and watched that – nothing special, just laid out his tentative schedule (which, uh, he's already behind – moving house does that) with some fun clips from horror movies.

2. And then it was onto the actual Ashock the Fourth Wall (as it's known in October), with Pinhead #1-3! Basically a rather strange story about Pinhead having to go back in time and possess earlier versions of himself to track down a demon (possible other Cenobite) who is slowly erasing all the other Cenobites from time by altering the time stream for their Lament Configurations. It's weird and uneven, but it has some interesting ideas, and I like how they change Pinhead's design for each time period (he's got small arrowheads in his flesh in an Old West jaunt, for example). And we've also got some plot! Namely, an in-universe explanation for why the Linkara/Heavy Wrex wrestling match hasn't happened yet (ion storm over the stadium, alternate realities are running wild) – and it looks like someone's just ported into Linkara's new home while he was doing something to Pollo? Hmmm. . .

D) Back on the bike today, so I was able to watch more of Jon's Fallout 4 Survival playthrough! Turns out there were TWO Legendary Super Mutants in the library. His panic was hilarious and relatable. XD He and the robots were able to take them both down, and he got a decent "Kneecapper" shotgun off one (20% chance to cripple legs, yay) before sorting through the bodies and heading back to Diamond City. He ended the episode by starting "Confidence Man," the quest where you help out Travis, the anxious DJ of Diamond City Radio. He got through the staged bar fight (courtesy of Vadim, Travis's bartender friend) all right, and used the power of his pretty red dress to convince Scarlett the barmaid to go on a date with Travis – and then it turned out Vadim had gotten himself kidnapped by the guys he used for the bar fight because, like an idiot, he refused to pay them. And on his way to Beantown Brewery to help out Travis with his friend, poor Jon got on the bad side of some raiders with molotovs and got killed. So the NEXT episode started with him resuming from where he was in Diamond City, and deciding to handle "Diamond City Blues," a quest where you end up part of a massive drug deal, since it's kind of on the way. XD His version of the question has resulted in quite a lot of death (a stand-off between two guys gone very wrong; then grenading the drug deal and killing the only survivor after failing to persuade her). Where I left off, he was getting ready to take Hangman's Alley as a settlement/place to hang out (I've heard this is one of the WORST settlements in the game due to a crappy build area, but it probably works decently for a "player home"-type settlement). Good times, good times. . .

E) Then it was time to hit my subscriptions to catch up on Call Me Kevin:

1. Back to Fall Guys in an attempt to take a break from his addiction to Among Us! He and Bimpson (what he calls his pink little bean) ran through four courses, looking for new stuff from the Season 2 update – and the RNG gave him exactly ONE new course, where you have to jump through a certain number of hoops to qualify. Figures, right? XD But he still had fun, and he came in the top three all four times – first two third, fourth one second, and the third one he WON! :D Now that was satisfying! His little fist-pump as he realized he'd grabbed the crown right before his chicken competition was great. XD I hope he does more of this game too – it's just as fun and colorful as Among Us, and hopefully the RNG will be kinder in future in showing off the new game modes!

2. And more Phasmophobia – this one is actually a stream highlights clip compilation that he decided to post on his main channel as a sort of advertisement for the second channel that hosts those kinds of videos. And said stream included himself, The Spiffing Brit, RT, and – someone I'm not familiar with but who was playing VR, so her character spent most of the games in awkward crouched positions. XD While Kevin spent most of the games making his teammates doubt their sanity by making weird noises and engineering his own jump scares. XD Poor Dan got particularly freaked out near the end, when Kevin throatily replied "yes" to Dan asking the ghost if it wanted to hurt him. XD Oh man, hilarious to watch, but I'm sure Kevin's a real pain to actually PLAY with. XD

F) And then, to wrap things up, one video from GrayStillPlays – Skater XL, a skateboarding simulator! Where one can mess with the physics numbers! . . .Yeah, Gray screwed with everything and sent his character (at first Generic White Skater Dude, later Tonya Cocaine/Heroin) into space with overpowered skateboard pops, skateboard push offs, and super-low gravity. The way he kept cracking up as his character basically rocketed away the first time he adjusted the stats. . .it was DELIGHTFUL. Don't give him numbers to play with, games, he will BREAK YOU to within an inch of your life. XD

-->Played some Fallout 4 -- the weather mod is in, the weather mod appears to be working (had a nice heavy rainstorm while I was wandering the financial district of Boston), so my modding days should be complete! :D As for what I actually did in the game:

1. Progressed the "Big Dig" quest a little farther by talking to Bobbi (fortunately the crash happened AFTER an autosave after the mirelurk fight, so I didn't have to repeat that) -- she's headed to Diamond City, so that's all set for now

2. Listened to Hancock's setpiece speech about the Institute

3. Visited The Memory Den and did the quest of the same name, which was a nice little bit of experience, even if it was pretty traumatizing to poor Victor

4. Spoke to Kent Connolly and agreed to pick up the Silver Shroud costume from Hubris Comics

5. Left Goodneighbor by the DOOR, started wandering around, promptly ran into some Super Mutants (including, you guessed it, two Legendaries), some Rust Devils (whom I was fortunately able to snipe for the most part), and a handful of Raiders (usual with them)

6. Found the bookstore I was looking for with the "Tales of the Commonwealth" quest -- I am now tracking down historical records on some guy named "Thomas" for Clarissa, a history geek. I am trying to figure out what the twist is with this guy (he's supposed to be an important patriot), but am currently having no luck.

7. Proceeded to find a bunch of other places before finding a spot to park my butt so I could go work out XD

Since I'm pretty much done with installing mods (barring updates), I could conceivably just start my new playthrough now. . .but I want to start that on the Sunday closest to the actual date the bombs fell (October 23rd), so I think I'll use next weekend to do more of the "Patriots" and "Silver Shroud" quests, just for funsies and to make sure everything's working together nicely.

-->And wrote some more on "In A World Of His Own," where Victor had an awesome ride on the Butterfly Jungle version of Ferdy -- at least, until he slipped off and fell into the river. XD Ending line is him declaring to Mr. Explorer that they're going to be putting together a saddle for him, mister. XD Chapter 3 moves us to the Magic Tower, so that should be fun!

Okay, that's about it -- just need to answer my comment, then hit the sack, since work again tomorrow. Got a bit of a busy week coming up -- flu shot on Wednesday, along with a staff meeting, then dentist appointment on Saturday. Hopefully should just be quick and not too stressful? *fingers crossed* Anyway, gotta clean up now and head to bed -- night all!
