Better Sunday. . .Up Until About 9:30 PM
Oct. 18th, 2020 10:55 pmI've been feeling some sinus pressure all day (the sort of thing where you don't have a stuffy nose, it just feels a bit tight back there), along with a twitchy eye -- but around that time, I suddenly got some sour-stomach feelings. I'm not sure if it was a result of the video I was watching (that has happened to me before -- remember my complaints about part of Helloween's LP of Metro: Exodus, when they were in the desert-type area?), something I ate (we had breakfast for supper, with very salty bacon and large pancakes, which might have been a bit much for the stomach), or if I'm genuinely sick. Something I'm going to have to monitor and see how I feel in the morning. At least I have sick time to burn if necessary. . .
Other than that, though, it wasn't too bad a Sunday. Mom and Dad seem to be okay (though Dad apparently started feeling a little bad around the same time I did -- lending credence to the 'it was dinner' possibility, I think), and I was able to:
-->Catch way up on a lot of YouTube:
A) Caught up on the latest from OXBox and OXtra, with:
1. "7 Guilt Trips Games Gave You For Quitting" – Ranging from sarcastic messages (Wolfenstein 3-D), to dirty, starving pets (Nintendogs and Neopets), to angry villagers and filthy houses (Animal Crossing: New Horizons), to "quitting is actually killing your character in a variety of ways not even related to the game" (Rise of the Triad). Fortunately the closest I've come to said guilt-trips is "Running Away, Are We?" on the American McGee's Alice quit screen – which I mentioned in the comments because somebody had to. (If I'm actually mentioned in a follow-up video, it will be amazing :D)
2. "7 Weirdest Ways Games Were Censored" – Namely in other countries such as Germany, who apparently back in the 80s and 90s did not want games in which people died? So Half Life had all human enemies removed, and Carmaggedon had all its pedestrians replaced by robots in that country. While South Park: The Stick of Truth self-censored for the EU – and considering what they were censoring, I think the EU is better for it. Ugh.
3. "7 Spooky Easter Eggs You Can Only Find On Halloween" – Like Two Point Hospital turning "Lightheadedness" (patient's head becomes a lightbulb) with "Frightheadedness" (patient's head becomes a jack-o-lantern)! Or Calendar Man telling the story of how he and the other villains invaded a Halloween party one year in Batman: Arkham City! Or Demon Souls putting in a "spooky difficulty," somehow becoming EVEN HARDER (a one-time event, but one much beloved by the community, apparently – but then again, we all know they love pain and suffering). I think I'll stick with Fallout 4's Diamond City stringing up Halloween decorations when you visit on in-game Halloween (which is pretty close to the day you START, so I suspect it's most often seen by speed-runners).
B) Then it was over to the Kubz Scouts for another video on Yandere Simulator – namely, there was an update to the "sneaking into the stalker house" sequence! You can now sabotage the lights to get the dad to come out of the house so you can sneak in the front door. . .but that seems to break the game as you can't actually access the stalker's room that way. Also you can climb up the outside trellis from inside the house. So underwhelming and buggy update, yaaaay. . . On the plus side, we saw the "betray" version of the "befriend/betray" cutscene, where you give Osana drugged tea and tie her up in the basement, so at least that was new and interesting? *shrug*
C) And then it was over to The Spiffing Brit for a video on him playing Phasmophobia with RTGame, Kiwo (another YouTuber I'm not familiar with), and Call Me Kevin. I'd actually already seen Kevin's view of this particular play session, but I decided Spiff's was worth checking out too – if only to see another angle on their reactions to Kevin being a total troll (making weird noises, plinking the strings of his guitar, and that infamous croaky-voiced "yes" to RT asking a ghost if it wanted to hurt him, COMPLETELY freaking out the poor guy XD). Spiff now desires Kevin's downfall in all ways possible, as is only right, I suppose. XD
D) Later in the evening, it was time for Call Me Kevin:
1. A sponsored video for Rogue Company, a new PVP game in the vein of every other PVP game. But hey, Kevin had fun with it! He was actually really good at one of the game modes, where the teams competed to be the first to hack a bomb, popping out from behind cover to destroy the enemy team as his teammates hacked. He even made some new friends, including an Amish gamer. Yes, really – remember, there IS that ritual they have where teenagers can go experience the rest of the world, so I assume he was either one of those, or somebody who'd done it and decided they wanted to live in a world with technology and whatnot. But yeah, much fun was had, Kevin earned many bonuses and whatnot. . .and then he tried the "defend areas A & B" maps and got wrecked. XD Ah well, he managed to do good for a while, and that's the main thing.
2. And more Among Us, who is surprised. XD This time, Kevin was focused on making friends – and he did indeed! Another Turkish person, whose name apparently translated out to "is anyone Turkish." XD Kevin successfully vented and murdered in front of him when he got impostor, and Turk (part of his name) happily helped him vote out the one remaining innocent person XD And when Kevin got killed almost immediately as a crewmate in a later game, Turk let themselves get killed so they could stay together as ghosts! :D They were vibing, you know? The other players probably thought they were cheating, but no, Kevin is just that good at making buddies in this game. XD
E) Then it was over to Jon of Many A True Nerd for – "Happy Birthday, Fallout: New Vegas?" Yes, apparently the "Season of Fallout 4" has been suspended this week, because it's Fallout: New Vegas's birthday week! 10 years old this October – did not know that! And as F:NV is Jon's absolute favorite of the series, one of his favorite games of all time, and the game that really got his channel going, he felt it appropriate to celebrate. By collecting various random items in the game and "making a cake" out of them. XD It was pretty amusing (especially when he was forced to go hunting Deathclaws for eggs), though I suspect I would have enjoyed it more if watching the video hadn't coincided with me feeling a bit sour-stomached. Yes, this is what I was watching when it hit -- and yes, the gameplay was a bit "shaky cam," hence why I'm suspicious it might have been the video, but – yeah. Kinda took away from the experience. Though on the plus side, his Fallout 4 You Only Live Once run starts next week, so that's something to look forward to.
-->Play some beanbag game with the family (the tree guys appear to have finished their job, and there was absolutely no one else out there when we played) -- I actually managed a solid 9 to start one game, and won twice! Dad also won twice, leaving Mom with a single win -- but she came in second almost every other game, with Dad coming in second the one game she won. So yeah. That was fun, at least.
-->Also play some Fallout 4 (after some computer struggles -- definitely need something with a good NVIDIA card and lots and lots of RAM) -- I was going to try and do the Silver Shroud quest, but while I was wandering around the area, trying to get my bearings (and dying to a sentry bot), I noticed a big old boat sitting on a building.
Which I realized was the USS Constitution.
I couldn't pass up the awesome Robot Sailors quest, could I? Made my way over there, met with Lookout and the Captain -- then had to restart the game because of a freeze, but. . . Anyway, I love the robots, and I like that the nature of the quest allows smart characters, like my boy Victor, to do repairs instead of just replacements. Since my Victor is supposed to be a tinkerer and was an Army engineer, this feels very appropriate. :D I left it after telling the scavengers who have stolen the guidance chip the bots need that I'm on the bots' side. Still planning on doing my restart next weekend, but hey -- at least I got to experience some of the quest! Ironsides is hilarious in his little hat and insistence on the accent. XD
Oh, and on a related note, I FINALLY found where on my Nexus account I could find a list of all the stuff I've downloaded, and thus check to see which of my mods have had updates recently. Didn't get a chance to take advantage of it today, but good to know!
-->And write some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- got past more of Therese and Jeannette's arguing (along with my addition of "the sisters getting mad when other people call one of them names, that's a THEM privilege") and into them remembering the better times. Which is now capped with Alice's heartfelt recital of how much she'd like to have one more day with HER sister. . .hey, she doesn't know Lizzie has been resurrected by the vampire mafia yet! So that's gonna be a nice surprise for her later. :)
Oh, and I just did the one thing in the Valice Multiverse queue, so that's set too. . .just gotta answer the comment in the inbox and I'll be pretty much set for the night! Which is good, because it is a work day tomorrow. . .dependent upon how I FEEL, of course, but I should at least attempt to get to bed on time just in case. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious, everyone! Night all!
Other than that, though, it wasn't too bad a Sunday. Mom and Dad seem to be okay (though Dad apparently started feeling a little bad around the same time I did -- lending credence to the 'it was dinner' possibility, I think), and I was able to:
