crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

Yup, first day of the very busy 1985 weekend here, which is basically just showing Marty in the first version of 1985 going about his day and setting up everything for the weirdness later. Almost missed this 10:04 because YouTube has been a bit of a prick about loading a video I'm watching -- granted, said video is an hour and eight minutes, but. . .so yeah, let me go back and finish watching those last few minutes, and then I'll be right back. :p

Okay, it's actually been rather more than just a few minutes, but I am back. Sorry, was trying to catch up on some other things. . .taking my sweet time to get to stuff has kinda been a theme of this day, honestly. It was 12:30 before I got dressed. I blame still being in a "thinking about brainwarped Victor" mood for most of this -- it's very distracting. Hopefully I've gotten the majority of it out of my system over this weekend. . .

That being said, I have to say, I had a very nice Sunday:

-->Read through some old favorite fanfic moments, which is not a bad way to start a day

-->Had a very nice lunch with a new recipe Mom made -- Moroccan chicken in a sort of handheld pie thing. Very tasty! Which is good, as we have another two we need to eat. XD

-->Played the beanbag game shortly after lunch, aaaand -- guess who was champion today! :D Yeah, normally I'm not great when it comes to playing in colder weather (and it was chilly today), but I managed to win three games and take second twice! Dad won two, while poor Mom only managed second twice. Feels good to be the champ for a day or two (since it might rain tomorrow).

-->Watched a bit of the old YouTubes (though, admittedly not quite as much as I'd hoped thanks to the aforementioned "distracted and taking my sweet time to get to stuff" problem):

A) Started with another round of the "Among Us" challenge in 60 Seconds from Jay – that challenge he made up where Ted has to survive to be rescued by the military, getting sick means you're sus (and the medkit is your "emergency meeting"), and you always have to scavenge, and you must always have food and water. He had one less-than optimal run (where the shelter ran out of water while Timmy was out scavenging – he continued playing for a few days after the loss, and turns out Timmy was lugging back four whole bottles of the stuff), and one run that started off bad (two waters, one food) that ended up turning the corner and going really well thanks to some good scavenging. . .and then Ted died on a scavenging mission and Jay just ended the video there. XD

B) Then it was over to OXBox for a video on the "7 Scariest Zombies That Made Us Want to Quit Immediately: Commenter Edition." I don't recall watching the original, but I decided to give this one a go because, well, it is the week of Halloween. From Stalkers in Dead Rising 2 (you may know them better as the space turkeys, since that's how Helloween always referred to them in his LPs), to The Flood from Halo, there is a plethora of creepy zombie creatures out there! Though, fortunately, no jumpscares, which is what I was really worried about.

C) Post my own game restart, it was time for more of Jon's Fallout 4 Survival playthrough on the bike! Jon's still working his way through the Covenant mystery (well, the mystery of what happened to the caravan that stopped there; he can't figure out why none of these two-story pre-War houses have stairs) – he's investigated the caravan, successfully buttered up Penny and got her to drop some information on some "Compound" outside of town, bought some of Deezer's Lemonade (apparently it is not lethal to drink, despite Strong's comment that it looks and tastes like piss if you have him along for this quest), and stole the mayor's password and found the location of said Compound on his computer. He and Honest Dan are going into the sewers under Mystic Pines to investigate! Jon's quite enjoying the mystery – though, amusingly, he's come to a conclusion about what's going on that's the exact OPPOSITE of the truth. XD (If you don't mind spoilers – he thinks it's a town of synths that have been freed by the Railroad; the town is ACTUALLY made up of people who hate synths because they've all lived through having someone close to them replaced. He'll be disabused of the notion soon enough.)

D) And then, this evening, the big one – the start of Jon's Fallout 4 "You Only Live Once" run! No healing. No removing rads. No saving crippled limbs. No buying weapons with legendary effects. No companions (or, well, permanent companions – the ones who only stick around for a short time are okay, and Dogmeat is an edge case as the game only considers him sort-of a companion. He's letting the watchers vote on whether or not Dogmeat is allowed to join him). The only things he's allowing himself are diseases that go away on their own (and no infections, as that would basically kill him thanks to the game doing a back-end bad dice roll), and he's allowed to reload if the game does something dumb with physics that kills him (like he brushes up against a car that then flattens him for no reason). But yeah, this is a cold and unforgiving world (with the help of appropriate mods), and once he dies – that's it. Point of the challenge is just to see how far you can get.

And so far, he and his character Ms Finnalley made it through the Vault and day one! All without getting hit once or taking any rads or getting sick, go him. He dodged the radroaches in Vault 111 like a boss, had Codsworth take care of some of the nastier bloatflies, figured out how to cheat the system with the mole rat attack in the Red Rocket (they don't spawn until you greet Dogmeat, giving him time to scrap stuff and build a turret to help take them out), and by greeting traveling trader Trashcan Carla earlier, accidentally set up a situation where she and Preston took out all the raiders attacking the Museum of Freedom in Concord before Jon could even start helping. XD So yeah. Of course, he's also had some interesting setbacks, like having feral ghouls interrupt his attempt to get involved in the Drumlin Diner business (he didn't even know that could happen); having a terrible time finding ammo for the gun he wanted to make; finding almost nothing but cool but relatively useless hats while searching Sanctuary for clothes; and waking up from his first proper sleep in the tail end of a radstorm (fortunately he was able to wait it out). So yes, this is gonna be an interesting series for however long it lasts. XD On the plus side, I have learned a few good things about the early game (like, since you can respec your character right before leaving the Vault, you can get some free experience by making your character Intelligence 10 for the Vault section, then changing that up when you leave; Gun Nut is actually a great early perk to take; there should be a very decent pipe sniper rifle in a house to the side of Concord; throw a sarcastic flirt Carla's way when you first meet her and she gives you a PERMANENT discount on her goods), so this is information I can use for my own "Official" Fallout 4 Victor run. :) Yay!

-->As stated above, I did my official restart of my Fallout 4 Victor run -- though today was mainly just using the character creator to recreate Victor's face, now that I knew what I was getting into (when I first started up the game, I was startled by the Sims 4-style direct manipulation of features over the sliders I was expecting, and I think my first Victor build suffered for it). And -- honestly, I'm pretty happy with what I created! I spent pretty much a whole hour just carefully manipulating everything so he looked at least reasonably like a "realistic" Victor. As I finished up, I was like, "damn, I'd like to get a screenshot of this, but I have no idea what button that is. . .maybe I'll just press PrtSc and hope for the best when it comes time to copy it into Paint."

Guess what the screenshot button is. :D So yeah, if you want a look at my attempt at Victor:

Victor Van Dort in Fallout 4 Character Creator

Yeah, his hair's not great, but it's the best I can do with what's in the game -- everything else is MUCH worse. I think I really did a good job on his nose, though! And maybe his chin could be a little smaller, but I think he's much more pleasant to look at than my previous attempt.

-->Also as stated above, got in a bike ride after the gaming, so yay.

-->And I've just finished up getting my queue sorted for Valice Multiverse -- very lucky it was just three asks! And happily I only have one comment in my inbox that needs sorting, so that's good.

So yeah -- time to get that comment sorted, make sure I'm caught up on everything else, and then head to bed. Another day at work tomorrow. . .but it's a short week since I took Friday off, and this upcoming Saturday is Halloween, so I've got that to look forward to, at least. *nods* Night all!
