crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

I mean, we only see the wee hours of this day, but they're plot-important wee hours -- Doc and Marty both a) realizing that the only way to send Marty home is to harness the lightning bolt on November 12th, and b) discovering that Marty's accidentally negated his own existence by preventing his parents' first meeting. Heavy stuff!

Anyway, been a bit of a scattered night (I blame this on tiredness and being PMSy), and I have stuff I need to take care of, so let's try and get this show on the road here:

-->Work was kind of quieter, but also more stressful (including more fun with the online giving stuff! I swear, sometimes it feels like I spend most of my days there e-mailing them. . .). Doesn't help that COVID-19 is looming larger and larger in RI these days. . .

-->Got on the treadmill when I got home -- nice solid workout there, yay~

-->Spoke too soon about that episode of Taskmaster that was posted the other day -- that one too is blocked in America! Ugh. . .hoping I can find an alternate YouTube channel to watch it on tomorrow (we watched what will probably be the last episode of Mock the Week for a while instead, since the UK has gone back into lockdown. Still funny!)

-->Did a little other YouTubing too:

A) Treadmill instead of bike today, but that just meant a longer session with Jon's Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! Almost finished episode 15 – Grills Bears took a detour to the blood bank near Fort Hagen to hunt Legendary bugs (got himself a Cunning Laminated Synth Right Leg out of it) and pick up some junk, then waited until Dogmeat arrived to continue the quest. He quickly stuffed his furry friend's inventory full of stuff and sent him off to Hangman's Alley, then proceeded through Fort Hagen, slaughtering synths first with the Deliverer, then with Righteous Authority/The Slightly Excited Pistol after picking up a Lucky Raider's Right Leg from another legendary and testing out how fast it filled his criticals (as it turned out, it's JUST SHY of three shots per crit, so he dropped it). At any rate, he got plenty of goodies (including the Energy Weapons bobblehead), managed to drop a quick save before the Kellogg fight, ATTEMPTED to enrage him with the combat shotgun (but since Kellogg is a boss, he's apparently immune), picked off the synths (ANOTHER legendary netted him a Violent Pipe Rifle, which he decided to take for later modding), melted Kellogg, and exited Hagen to the site of the Prydwen, the Brotherhood airship, sailing by in all its glory in the early morning sky. The Brotherhood promptly started proving their might by showing up to help him out with some Rust Devil bots and Super Mutants, allowing Jon to say that this is the moment in-story that Grills Bears decides to fully commit to the Brotherhood. Then it was back to Oberland to pick up tatos, then back to Hangman's Alley to drop off all his gear, and welcome his new dog (Dogmeat) and new cat (a captured kitty from the cat cage). I left him working on weapon modding, seeing what he can do with that Violent Pipe Rifle (now a pipe pistol, no surprises there).

B) And then I spent the evening listening to the latest Wyrd Sisters podcast on YouTube, for Feet of Clay! As per usual, everyone seemed to very much enjoy the book, but wanted to point out a few things they felt were handled a little clumsily, or that showed their age (in particular, Detritus's war on troll drugs, which is a parody of DARE and those sorts of things). Like I said in the comments, this sort of thing is actually a great reason to read the whole series in publication order -- you can actually see Terry growing and evolving as both writer and person. Yes, his early attempts are pretty awkward and written from a place of privilege, but he's trying, and he always works to try and get better. That counts for something. Plus it's a very good book on its own. :)

-->Did some writing on "In A World Of His Own," have invented essentially a semi-steampunk DDR machine for Victor and Alice to play to get a ticket into the theater where the conductor lives because screw you I make the rules here. XD More seriously, I knew I wanted a mini-game like that in this area; needed to find a place to put it; came up with the "you can win a ticket into the theater" idea on the fly (I suspect I was subconsciously remembering the DDR machine in Dave & Busters, which I have often seen and very occasionally tried). *shrug* First draft, anything goes!

-->And currently no sign of the new computer -- mostly likely to come early next week, so it looks like I'll be dedicating my Wednesday off to that.

And now it's time to catch up on DW comments, do my Valice Multiverse queue quick, and then move onto helping my tumblr friend outline fic stuff. *nods* Tomorrow -- room clean, then catching up on Sims-related videos I've been meaning to watch and playing a bit of Sims 4 myself. Again, need to think of a fun activity for the Liddell-Van Dort family to do. . . I'll come up with something! In the meantime, g'night!
