crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)

But then again, this is a day that isn't shown in the movie, and I've been very busy with other stuff, so I think I can allow not hitting 10:04 exactly (I was close!). What other stuff have I been busy with?

Well, I'm typing this on my new Alienware Aurora R11 computer, so I think you can guess! It arrived while we were watching Taskmaster with lunch (finally found a way to watch episode 4 of Season 10!), and its box was disinfected and partially unpacked before being hauled into my room. Spent a good chunk of the afternoon getting the monitor, keyboard, and mouse all sorted, then getting the computer itself booted up and getting everything I needed on it (starting right away with antivirus and Firefox). I've installed pretty much all of my games (barring the Telltale BTTF: The Game and the original American McGee's Alice), moved things around as necessary (notably, all my Steam-related games now live on the D: drive as that is much bigger than my C: drive), and made generally some decent headway in making this my "main" computer. Only problem?

Guess what my computer doesn't come with?

ANY FORM OF SPEAKERS.

I'm serious -- I realized this completely by accident when I tried to watch a YouTube video on moving steam games from one drive to another and could not bring up any sound. It wasn't until I was Googling the problem that I discovered the monitor we'd bought doesn't have any internal speakers. >.< So THAT was a kick in the teeth to my glowy Alienware setup. Dad's lent me a dusty old speaker from the dawn of time as a fill-in for the moment, and they've gotten me some Bose speakers (I did some research, decided on those because we have experience with them -- they made Dad's headphones, which he's quite pleased with in terms of sound quality, so), which should arrive either tomorrow or Friday. So problem solved, we hope, but damn. You'd think that speakers would have been included in the list of "hey, these are neat peripherals you should get!" Hmph.

Well. Anyway. I still need to get all my documents and whatnot in place, but things are progressing along with this. Hopefully once the speakers arrive, I can properly rearrange my desk to accommodate this computer, and figure out where to store my laptop. I can't say I've really gotten anything else done, though I did:

-->Make a copious dent in the reviews that my friend sent me (and whom messaged me on tumblr asking if I had any requests for a Valice drawing for Christmas -- I let him know about an idea I've had in my head for a while, and said my birthday's two days later, so if he wants to take a little extra time. . .)

-->Watched one YouTube video (on the laptop because it has better speakers at the moment (pathetic)) -- Fun With Shorts, "Judging Authority!" One of Coronet's goofy little things from 1948, about figuring out how best to judge information you get from authorities (as shown by some kid who kind of wants to become a lawyer, and needs to evaluate a negative and a positive opinion of the career from two very different sources)

-->And I do intend, if nothing else, to answer my DW comments before heading to bed!

So yeah -- this is how goes the battle for now. I hope you're all doing well, and I hope I can get all this sorted sooner rather than later! At least I only have another two days of work before the weekend. . .split weeks are weird. O.o Night all!
