Distracted Kind Of Friday
Nov. 20th, 2020 11:39 pmMy brain's gone straight into "comfort AU" mode when it comes to daydreaming, so it's been a bit hard to concentrate today. I DO have my obligations, however, so let's try to zoom through this so I can do my things:
-->Work was annoyingly busy for a Friday -- made the day go by, I guess, but I could have done WITHOUT having to juggle three things at once. Ugh. . .didn't help that I ended up eating lunch late thanks to phone shenanigans. I am not pleasant when I'm hangry.
-->Had to deal with some real idiots on the road today -- lane-drifters, some idiot who tried to turn at a red light just as the light for the OTHER side's turning lane went green. . .ugh. Will be glad not to drive as much next week!
-->Did get in some time with the puzzle and a bike ride today, yay~
-->Also some YouTube:
A) Getting back on the bike meant, of course, a little more of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! Had to fight a bit with YouTube at first, but I eventually got to watch a little more of episode 18. Grills Bears managed to successfully sneak past the Rust Devils (which included a legendary AND a sentry bot, both bad news) and some bloatflies and mirelurks into the bargain! . . .and then he reached Outpost Zimonja and ended up dying to a “Boomer,” aka a Raider with power armor and a Fat Man launcher. *wince* New plan took him AROUND the potential Railroad safehouse to Tenpines Bluff to drop another save – he did find a little shack along the way with a bedroll in it, but was unable to use it because there were enemies nearby that he couldn’t find. So instead he rocked up to his settlement and prepared to sleep. . .
Just in time for a Super Mutant attack on the place! A baffled Jon helped defend the settlement and got some caps for his trouble, laughing all the while at his accidental heroics. He built himself a nice bed as a victory prize and got a good night’s sleep, then went back and, with the help of a handy shack to hide in, managed to pick off the raiders and secure the Outpost with some turrets. Also he gave a random settler sitting in the grass some Radaway, because he’s nice like that (and he sure as hell wasn’t using it). His plan after that was to hit up Sanctuary, but then he remembered he had some spare fusion cores for his new power armor at the Starlight Drive-In, so he detoured there to pick them up. And, while he was there, he set up a couple of supply lines to Sanctuary and Hangman’s Alley to start linking up his settlements and his workbenches! Which is good, as Starlight Drive-In’s population was forgetting to actually farm their food. . .anyway, I left him after he’d just scrapped the walls and was preparing to head out again. Maybe we’ll reach Sanctuary next time!
B) Then it was time for some more Call Me Kevin, with:
1. More Among Us, this time with religion! “Religion” is hereby defined as “Kevin calls himself Father K, wears a suit and a halo, and gets people to come ‘confess’ to him in reactor.” After a rocky start in his first lobby (got Impostor, confused everyone with his flowery language, and got banned), he hit success in the second, with the help of Acolyte Big PP! Who happily vented in front of him (in reactor) and then proceeded to just back up everything he said without question. XD And hilariously, I think he figured out Kevin was, well, Kevin (asking at one point if he had a YouTube channel – Kevin lied and said no, but I don’t think Big PP believed him XD). It was really good times. XD
2. Apparently November 17th was actually Kevin’s birthday?? He’s tricked me before with this. . .at any rate, he celebrated by playing a weird selection of birthday games! Including Fatty Bear’s Birthday Surprise (point and click adventure game that came out the same year he was born – 1993 – and is unintentionally very creepy thanks to the graphics and the annoying gameplay); Today Is My Birthday (a truly terrible horror game in which killers and victims run at shockingly slow speeds, stuck doors are more worthy of comment than living dolls, and you can confuse a chainsaw-wielding killer by looking up and down rapidly); and Happy Birthday Bernard (a cutesy platformer with the gimmick of planting and growing trees to make extra blocks for yourself to climb back up to your sky house – easily the best of the bunch, even if Kevin struggled with getting the hang of it). Fun!
-->Wrote some more on "In A World Of His Own" -- after an initial back-and-forth with the "Paino" (currently what I'm calling this murderous Harryhausen -- first draft!), the gang has retreated to the orchestra pit to regroup, and the Conductor (Victor's musical side) is going to retrieve the Awful Orphica. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to write the upcoming battle, but it's certainly going to be interesting!
-->Discovered this banger of a "Carry On My Wayward Son" cover thanks to my tumblr friend who is spamming Supernatural finale stuff right now (to make fun of it; apparently it was terrible) -- I watched one of the edited clips just out of curiosity, and fell in LOVE with that version of the song. Promptly whacked it in the queue for Song Saturday. I just -- I've always been "yeah, that's fine" more or less about the original, but this. . .it's gorgeous, go listen.
And my responsibilities have caught up with me now -- time to wrap up here, answer my DW comment, then go do the writing thing. Tomorrow -- well, room clean for starters, then I have to test out BioShock Infinite and my full Sims 4 suite (aka saves, mods, and custom content). Also watch more YouTube -- it'll be easier to handle the Watch Later over Thanksgiving if I take this weekend to catch back up on my subscriptions! Night all!
