Slightly Better Thursday
Dec. 10th, 2020 10:59 pmWork was still super stressful (hit the ground running with my boss giving me a number to call for a credit card thing not that long after I'd gotten into work, and it just sort of kept going all day), but at least the car ran today? No issues that required me to call my parents for help, anyway. And I was able to be a little more productive with my evening too:
-->Got in a workout -- on the treadmill, no less! So that was satisfying :D
-->Kept up on the YouTube:
A) Treadmill time means more of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! I left him looking to see if he could catch a quick save nap before taking on terrifying sentry bot Ahab, only to find he couldn’t because active enemies were nearby. So he went and took care of the Rust Devils and their robots in the next room (including one surprisingly tough Devil who wasn’t even a legendary), then got his nap before trying to set up a trap for Ahab!
And failing miserably, waking the bastard up early and having to use all his criticals up against him before he got murdered. Fortunately, he managed to prevail, grab Jezebel the Robobrain from her prison, and fight his way past the remaining enemies. A few frag grenades took care of boss Ivey, and Jon happily looted her special Tesla power armor pieces to add to his own kit before heading back to base. He had a nice conversation with Ada (assuring her that she’s a person in her own right; must remember that for Victor’s eventual conversation with her) and built a new body for Jezebel before getting some important info on the Mechanist – namely, the Mechanist is trying to HELP people. Just their methods of doing so aren’t good – the Robobrains they’re using have concluded the best way to “help” humans is to end their squishy little lives as fast as possible to minimize their misery. Sooo, we’re up for an interesting confrontation in the future. . . But when I left Grills, he had put together a pretty darn nifty suit of power armor (with the help of some bought and stolen ceramic from Diamond City) and was pondering the uses of a Tesla Rifle. Also showing off how a salvaged Assaultron head is a cool weapon, but not worth the fifty rads you get each time you fire it! Yikes. . .
B) Back to Call Me Kevin for Big Brother: The Game! Yes, this is a thing. Yes, it is! Kevin’s computer thought it was a virus, but it is indeed a thing! It’s a virtual game show based on the real show, with tiers and multiplayer and a grand prize (up to one million dollars) and everything! And, uh, pay to play – after going through the absolutely bonkers character creator and the personality quiz, Kevin had to put in $5 USD to actually access a house. What followed was plenty of scheming from those few players who were actually active (it took Kevin 13 HOURS to actually enter a house for “Tier One”), Kevin sending lots of Vin Diesel pictures into the chat, Kevin graciously deciding to let the non-troll players who were nicest to him win – and then getting unceremoniously voted out the next time he logged on. Yes, this was a multi-day fiasco on his end. XD It was very weird, but if he ever wants to give it another go, I’d be happy to see more. XD
C) Then we ended with GrayStillPlays Turbo Dismount! More impossible challenges, y’all – most of them completed with the shopping cart. XD There was the never-ending trains ascending from hell that you had to fall between; the terrible Wall of Trains; the horrible crusher level with a HILL right before it so you built up unwanted speed before careening into traffic; and the fall between lanes of traffic going so fast that if you hit them, the game basically froze. Gray suffered mightily in the beating of them, but he DID beat them, and that’s what matters. XD
-->Wrote another gift fic -- my friends on tumblr were like "write whatever," so I threw together something based on an AU we're doing for one of them. The other likes Pirates of the Caribbean, so I'll probably do something based on that. Slowly but surely working my way toward Christmas!
-->Got my Valice Multiverse queue sorted -- though with that only being a couple of asks, it wasn't exactly hard. XD
And that's about it, really. Gonna answer my comment and then head to bed. . .one more day to get through. Then a normal-sized weekend, which is going to feel absurdly short after all the long ones. But if I can just get through it and the next week. . .
One thing at a time. Night all!

Date: 2020-12-11 03:54 pm (UTC)I don't have time to try it out yet, though. I got a pet portrait commission on Fiverr, and then one of my co-workers asked if I could draw his dogs, so I'll be occupied for a bit. But, hey, I'm finally getting paid for doing art! :D
