crossover_chick: Doc in goggles and holding a big old plug with the words "feeling sparky..." (BTTF: feeling sparky/creative)

Lucked out with this one -- after the stress of the last two days, today I was allowed to just sit in peace for the most part, doing stuff like obituaries and duplicate clean-up. Ahhhhh. There were a few annoying moments (mainly around when I could get in my lunch), but it was generally a much calmer day than the rest of the workweek! And even better -- I got a few vacation days approved. Namely, the 21st to the 23rd of December.

Meaning, with the extended holiday break, three days of vacation = TWO FULL WEEKS OFF.

Yeah, it's kind of my Christmas present to myself to help keep my sanity. I just have to make it through one more week of work, make sure no major fires crop up, and then I am FREE. Now that is something to look forward to!

Of course, I also have a weekend to look forward to right now, and it's already gotten off to a decent start:

-->Helped out some with the new puzzle -- the bottom's almsot entirely built, so now it's just a matter of filling in all those other books!

-->Got in a bike ride, so the exercise continues apace!

-->Kept caught up on the YouTubes:

A) On the bike? Time for more of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! I watched the last two minutes of episode 26 and started episode 27 with Jon deciding that he’s not quite tough enough for the massive waves of robots that make up the final Mechanist fight, so instead he’s going back to Main Quest Land to get access to Institute teleportation to make life a little easier in the “alternatives to fast travel” section of Survival Mode (he’s been burning through his vertibird signal grenades at a pretty fast clip!). So that means finally taking on the courser! Grills hopped in his newly upgraded power armor, took a few spare fusion cores, then hiked over to Greentech Genetics to murder himself a courser – and a bunch of Gunners too. Everything was going well, despite some pretty lousy legendary drops (who wants a Mutant Slayer’s Baton?) –

And then a bad molotov throw with the Demolitions Expert 4 perk meant that Jon accidentally killed himself a few rooms from the top. XD Poor guy had to restart all over again – though at least this time he got some slightly better legendary gear (like another bit of Assassin’s kit for when he’s not stomping around in power armor). Also found a bed to save in at a nearby raider camp, which helps. At any rate, this time he didn’t blow himself up and made it the courser, taking him out with the help of a bunch of critical shots. Left him deciding the fate of the synth the Gunners were holding hostage and the courser had been assigned to recollect. I know you’re doing a BoS run, Jon, but I hope you let her go regardless.

B) Then it was time for a new episode of Fun With Shorts – “Fun That Builds Good Health,” aka the “touchball” short. (It’s kids playing football, don’t worry.) Poor Jimmy learns that if you aren’t good at sports, you won’t have much fun – but if you ARE good at sports, you’ll end up super-jittery until your dad teaches you how to play board games as well. Also, CHORES can be fun too, since they’re good exercise and all. XD Josh was clearly working through a bit of the old childhood trauma in his riffs, and the result was hilarity. With a special guest appearance from conspiracy theories on the Dominion voting machines. XD

C) Next up, Call Me Kevin playing Cyberpunk 2077 – a game with apparently a very in-depth character creator, but – not much else. (And we’re not even getting into the fact that parts of it are DELIBERATELY MODELED off stuff that gives people SEIZURES. . .) Kevin of course made a happy little monstrosity in the creator – not that he looked all THAT weird compared to many of the NPCs. And then he proceeded to get in well over his head from minute one – chugging shots for his broken nose, getting carjacked WHILE jacking a car himself, making friends with the carjacker and enemies with everyone else he meets. Including the cops and high ledges. Also, there is a surprising amount of terrible framerate and people just sort of popping in and out of existence. This game took how long again? I mean, Kevin getting into firefights because he refuses to sit on a couch when prompted is always hilarious, but damn. What was the hype about?

D) And then some GrayStillPlays GTA V impossible stunt races! :D Today’s challenges? Tightrope of doom (with all sorts of other weird obstacles and super-fiddly jumps that did bad things to Gray’s sanity); the wall-ride with loop-de-loops of doom (corkscrews and other horrible curves be damned – Gray’s a MASTER of the wallride now), and THE TIGHTROPE OF STRESSFUL MEGA-DOOM (it goes STRAIGHT ACROSS the entire map, and Gray seriously sounded like he wanted to cry as he inched his way to completion). I have not been that stressed watching something in a loooong time. I mean, in a good way (he COMPLETED THE LEVEL), but man. Poor Gray.

-->Wrote another gift fic -- managed that other tumblr friend. This leaves me with one person I've asked about what they want, one person who usually provides a detailed brief, and one person whom I plan to ask what they want. Looks like I'll be editing a fic into posting form tomorrow! Gotta start sometime, and with the majority of my stuff written. . .at least I'm still in decent shape time-wise!

-->Got Valice Multiverse queue sorted -- two threads this time along with an ask, but nothing particularly taxing, so yay there~

And that's about it. Time to answer my final comments before heading over to the Writing Thing (which I do want to start a little earlier than the norm so I can make sure I have the best chance of getting to bed before 2 AM). Tomorrow: well, it's looking like the mods I have AREN'T going to break my Sims 4 game. . .hopefully my CC won't either. I'll probably take a little time to play with my "testing" save to make sure before going back to my Newcrest Adventures save next weekend. So yes, Sims 4 test, watch the two videos in my Watch Later and whatever comes up in my Subscriptions, work on gift fic edits, and see if I can FINALLY get my head in the game enough to review the last two chapters of a fic from a friend I've been trying to do for MONTHS now. Thinking the only way around that is to drop the super-long essays I've been doing and settle for something shorter. . .feel a bit bad, but if the choice is between that and no reviews at all. . .

Okay, yes, tomorrow. For now, writing thing and comments. *nods* Night all!
