One Of Those Fridays
Dec. 18th, 2020 11:17 pmAt least when it came to work:
-->RI does the WORST plowing jobs of its streets, I swear. . .and of its parking lots. I couldn't even seen the LINES in our lot. . .and when I tried to uncover one, I got some snow in my boot >(
-->My work has a three-door system for actually getting into the building. There's the outermost door, a door after that, then the actual little "lobby" area and the door into the actual offices. I went into the front door today, took a moment to clean the slush off my boots, then tried to open the second door --
And found it locked. I had to motion for the receptionist to come open the door for me, and later learned from my coworker that you basically CAN'T stop between the first and second doors, because the second one is set to lock automatically. *growls* I do Not Approve. (You already have to scan your badge in twice to get into the building!)
-->Various little irritations when it came to doing my job, like dumb questions from coworkers and donors alike, and having to complete some training on personal info and how to use it
-->Found a BONE in my chicken sandwich! Seriously! Bit on it, wondered "wtf" and pulled it out to find what I THINK was a bit of chicken rib. Mom buys boneless chicken breasts, so this was -- a thing.
-->Just in general the day dragged on as one of those "you're eager for it to be done so it takes FOREVER" kind of days.
Ugh. Not the best note to leave work on. *sigh* But I HAVE left, and I am now out for two official weeks! Hoo-fucking-ray. I look forward to lazing around, watching lots of YouTube, and playing lots of video games. And I've already made a good start, of sorts:
-->Got on the treadmill today for exercise! w000, keeping fit (so I can eat brownies later XD)
-->Got in some good YouTube as well:
A) On the treadmill today, so more than made up for missing Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough the other day! We finished off episode 29 with Jon finishing his build of the teleporter – he, luckily, had almost all the materials available, but he needed to go hunting for a biometric scanner for the final control panel. Fortunately a lucky drop off some raider turrets and broken-down robots nearby stopped him from needing to go hunting through any local hospitals for the item. (Or from challenging a sentry bot to a duel to the death. . .) He chatted with Maxson about his “mission” to the Institute, and discovered the Brotherhood had a special task for him – find Dr. Li and convince her to join up with them for a “special project.” Grills Bears was willing, and the episode ended with him getting successfully relayed into the Institute! Episode 30, so far, is largely about exploring (and looting) the place – Grills discovered the truth about Shaun, and met up with all of the other department heads largely off-camera, as Jon had done all of that in other playthroughs. He was curious about Li’s new dialogue, though, so we got to see plenty of her. Turns out she thought the BOS had sent its newest member to kill her for knowing too much. Grills assured her that wasn’t the case, and there was some back and forth about what it would take to get her to come back. Turns out it takes her learning the truth about Virgil’s “death” and what happened in his lab, so – after a quick demonstration of how the Institute teleport works in Survival (you can teleport in from anywhere, but you can only teleport out to the CIT Ruins. . .which, fortunately, is only a bridge away from Hangman’s Alley), and a rest-up at home, Grills broke into the old FEV lab! I left him there learning all its terrible secrets, especially how the program kept going even YEARS after it was obvious there was nothing good to be learned from it. Good thing I wasn’t planning an Institute run anyway, because sheesh.
B) OXBox Xmas Challenge Day 6 – Mike and the Friday the 13th “Scaredy Santa” challenge! As one of the counselors, he had to break into three houses and leave presents either by the fireplace or at the foot of a bed, without being murdered by Jason! Of course, he also needed to collect presents in the first place. . .cue Mike having a VERY tense game as he looked for items he could pick up and drop later, all while avoiding Jason. Fortunately, Jason was an agreeable Jason this time, and went after all the OTHER counselors first, allowing Mike’s character Kenny, aka Young Completely Middle Of The Road Santa, to pick up a pot and a first aid spray without worry. As the killer started closing in, though, Mike decided to drop off these two early gifts and then look for a third – he grabbed a machete after getting rid of his pot at a bed, then dropped his first aid at another bed –
And then ran into a small problem where he couldn’t drop his machete at the third bed. Turns out you have to hold “down” for a while before you can drop a weapon, but they didn’t find this out until AFTER the challenge was complete. Cue Mike scrambling for a droppable gift, and finally coming up with a bear trap, which he managed to leave by a bed with Jason on his tail! And then he set the trap and lured Jason into it, which was amusing. XD Jason abused his VHS teleport afterwards to kill him, but too late – Mike has earned his second Christmas point, yay! Which puts my favorite Hitman player (wearing a Fallout Christmas sweater!) of the three in the lead. . .
C) Oh, and I almost forgot – we also have OXTRA Christmas Challenges! Week before Christmas, we have seven head-to-head challenges between Luke and Ellen to choose THEIR Christmas Champion! And since they can’t be on the couch this year, Santa himself came to help them choose their challenges! :D (It’s Producer Jon if you want to be technical about it, but still.) We started off with the Animal Crossing: New Horizons “Pitfall Wrestling” Challenge! The pair had to fly to Producer Jon’s island, then follow him to the special wrestling ring he’d set up, lined with pitfalls. The goal – push each other out of the ring and into the pitfalls, with best out of five winning. They all put a shocking amount of effort into this – from Luke and Ellen accidentally showing up in matching outfits (complete with crowns!), to Jon giving them wrestling singlets and a tour of his lovely island (seriously, he put a LOT of work into making it appropriately Christmassy), to Ellen using as many emotes as possible to make sure her “prima ballerina” got the spotlight. XD But it was Luke who ended up winning the day, managing to get Ellen to fall in a pit three times versus his own two. (Though it’s worth noting that, in the first two rounds, BOTH of them ended up falling in pits, with the winner decided by who fell in first.) It was all very funny and cute – especially Ellen squeeing and cracking up over Santa Jon while Luke talked shade about OXBox. XD They’re seriously adorable, and I want this pandemic to be over so they can get back to hanging out together in PERSON.
-->Edited another gift fic -- probably my longest one, since I found myself quite inspired by the idea. Mostly because it involves Alice rescuing Victor, and I'm always a slut for that. XD Need to keep up this one-a-day if I expect to be done for Christmas, though!
-->. . .Downloaded another Fallout 4 mod because it makes Nuka-World a little more active after "Open Season" (where you kill all the raiders) and allows you to station factions there. Can have an official Minuteman presence there! Of course, I have to fix my game first. . .
-->Took some time to bounce around to some music, then caught up on webcomics and whatnot. Also checked in on Valice Multiverse, but so far, nothing happening there. Fine by me -- have comments and the Friday Night Writing Thing to do.
Okay, time to wrap things up here. . .now, tomorrow's to-do list:
1. Clean room
2. Play Sims 4 (there was another patch, but I think we should be okay -- if I have to do some more test save playing, I will)
3. Watch the two Plumbella vids in my Watch Later
4. See about catching up at least a little on my YouTube Subscriptions
5. If possible, read and review the final chapter of my friend's fanfic (depending on how things go down, this may be shoved back to Sunday)
*nods* I think I can get at least four out of the five done! Now let's answer that comment and get over to the Google Doc. . .night all!
