crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Yeah, right before I went to bed last night, I found that the whole thing had started (which definitely explains why I was so upset yesterday morning). I was expecting the darn thing to start before December was up (just glad it didn't show up on my birthday), but still -- figures that I'd end Hell Year 2020 on the rag, doesn't it? :p Been fighting the tireds all day, as you do -- at least it should be over by the time I have to go back to work!

Even with the old red curse gushing out of me, though, I still completed my to-do list:

1. Watch the two OXBox/OXtra list videos in my Watch Later: Check! Here we are –

1. From OXtra, a sponsored video on the side missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales that abruptly escalate a hell of a lot! From rescuing some guy’s stolen pigeons leading to Miles discovering a ring of criminals using carrier pigeons to plan a heist on the Bugle, to a selfie with a fan interrupted by an explosion at an old building, to the reason for the cat costume Luke and Ellen used in that one finisher challenge (dude has a cat named Spider-Man; Miles offers to find cat after he goes missing after a burglary; Miles finds the thieves knocking out power to a chunk of Harlem to pull off a bank robbery and one of the robbers is pretty damn fond of the cat), Miles just cannot catch a break, even when he’s not advancing the main plot. *pats him*

2. From OXBox, a video on the deleted endings to video games that they felt we, the viewers, needed to see! These seemed to be mostly cut bad ends (for example: Tomb Raider Underworld currently ends with Lara and her former-friend-turned-rival Amanda parting ways semi-amicably after escaping said underworld; the cut epilogue would have seen Amanda try to kill Lara and Lara leaving her to die in a blizzard after defending herself), with a notable exception being The Last Of Us, whose cut epilogue (acted out ONCE for a live audience with no recording of any kind) would have suggested some manner of reconciliation for Ellie and Joel after his unwanted “rescue” of her in the finale. But since this is The Last Of Us, everything must be depressing and horrible instead. Does fit the mood of a zombie apocalypse better, I guess.

2. Write some more on "In A World Of His Own:" Check! Managed another page after lunch, when my brain power was boosted by some recent food (meatball sandwich, om nom). Victor and Alice spotted the Artist, and then the incoming rainbow rainstorm, forcing them to row themselves to the shore (with Alice grumbling that it would be easier if she’d thought ahead and brought something to make her and Victor of a height). They’re all gonna shelter under a tree and have their conversation there. This one’s gonna be mostly talking, I think, as is the epilogue with Victor meeting the King of Hearts. We’ll see how it evolves!

3. Play Fallout 4 and try to get up to at least meeting Dogmeat, preferably to the Museum of Freedom: Check! I did indeed get up to meeting Dogmeat, though not quite all the way to Preston. I had Victor greet Codsworth and kill some bugs with him, then raided all the local houses for goodies, ending on Victor’s own last because that felt thematically appropriate. Got +1 Agility from the “You’re S.P.E.C.I.A.L.!” book, then used my first level-up on Scrapper Lvl 1. Made him a bed and put him to sleep at 11, then spent the morning in Sanctuary (after the rain had cleared up) moving around the crafting benches so they were in one central location, making a bit of food, scrapping some weapons (Victor found no less than five 10mm pistols in Sanctuary! Meaning for a brief period of time he had seven, given you find two in Vault 111 itself), and making himself a portapotty (a bucket with a tire on it and toilet paper on the handle – this is from my “CWSS Redux” mod XD). Around noon I sent him down to the Red Rocket to meet Dogmeat and kill all the molerats – though my assault on the den below the station was delayed briefly by a radstorm. I eventually got down there to kill and loot, then moved all the crafting benches THERE to a central location, made Victor and Dogmeat beds in the back office, and put Victor to bed again. Got him up at about 7 on 10/25, had him make breakfast, then skirted the edge of Concord, killing the Bloodbug Hatchlings –

And then I had a crash. Fortunately, I had saved very recently; unfortunately, my attempt at killing the hatchlings went a lot worse this time around. *grumbles* I saved after murdering them and healing Victor up – now I just have to hope that crash was a one-off thing! I kind of want to get back to saving the Minutemen. . .

4. Get in a workout (maybe try for a treadmill walk): Check! Got on the treadmill indeed, even with my current situation. :) And I got in plenty of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough. Caught up with Grills Bears unlocking the various shortcuts through the sub with the First Mate’s password, then catching up with Zao to learn how to reactivate the reactor (you have to put in the dampening coil FIRST, then the warhead – doing it in the wrong order blows up the sub with you and the captain inside). With the reactor reactivated, Grills got his reward (three homing beacons for tactical nuclear strikes), said goodbye to Zao, and swam back to shore – where Jon elected to take him home offscreen as he was suffering from all the things (an infection, exhaustion, hunger, thirst, and a ton of rads). Once Grills was in a better state, it was time to call in a vertibird to fly to the Castle! Why? Well, the original plan was to go bobblehead hunting, remember? And it turns out one of the bobbleheads, for Luck, is near the Castle – on Spectacle Island, a potential settlement off the coast which is infested with Mirelurks. Including a nasty queen that appears when you go on the ship that contains the bobblehead Grills wanted. So Jon swam him out there, took care of a few Mirelurks on the way to the ship, grabbed his bobblehead, activated the switch that calls in old Queenie, then started slowly trying to kill her – and then he made the mistake of pulling out his new Lorenzo’s Artifact gun and somehow killed himself (possibly with splash damage). So he swam back over again, dealt with some new spawns, tried to kill Queenie once again – aaaand again ended up dead himself. Fortunately, third time was the charm – while he wasn’t able to trick her or her Hunter friend from walking on a mine he set up, and he was beseiged briefly by Mirelurk Hatchlings, he was able to murder the Queen and the Hunter without dying, and was able to make it to the special radio transmitter on the island that, when reactivated, scares all the Mirelurks back into the ocean. Whew! Granted, he then had to go running around the island to find cloth to make a bed, but eventually he made himself a place to sleep and dropped that all-important save!

With that all wrapped up in Episode 34, Episode 35 saw Grills swim over to one of his other points of interest – Warwick Farm! He made contact with Roger, dropped off the seeds, and learned the bad news that Warwick’s foreman, Bill Sutton, had figured out Roger was a synth and was conspiring with farmhand Cedric to do something about it. Grills popped on the sparkly dress to ask Warwick’s family what they knew, as Bill apparently had them in his confidence – son Wally told him that Cedric was in Goodneighbor on Bill’s orders. Since Grills obviously wasn’t going down there right away, he instead turned his attentions to the nearby wreck of the FMS Northern Star, home to some – unique raiders. As in, they’re Norwegian ghouls who speak no English. Look, it’s Fallout, you get stuff like this. Grills carefully picked his way through the boat, taking out raiders and Mirelurks with his trusty armory (and getting irradiated all over again). I left him right after he took out leader Rags. Dunno where the Agility bobblehead he’s after is, but I’m eager to find out!

Not bad for a day when a lot of the time I kinda just wanted to take a nap. Seriously, why do periods have to be a thing. . .

Anyway. Currently trying to get together a post for tomorrow on Victor Luvs Alice (and get my modlist for my Fallout 4 game totally sorted as well, while I'm at it), and answering DW questions. As tomorrow is New Year's Eve, I am giving myself a very simple two-part to-do list:

1. Play Sims 4, the Test Save, and celebrate New Year's Eve with that Victor and Alice

2. Marathon my "YouTube End of Year" playlist -- Linkara's "15 More Screw-Ups of AT4W," OXBox's "What The Hell Happened This Year" quiz, OXtra's "Presh Mems," and Call Me Kevin's "Rewind."

This is in part because holiday, and in part because I don't expect to be able to do anything else -- the videos range in length from 45ish minutes (Linkara's two-parter) to just shy of an hour and a half (Kevin's "Rewind"). And I've got until suppertime to watch them, because THEN my family will be starting our usual New Year's Movie Marathon with the LEGO Movies (original, Batman, sequel). I mean, I know it's not the end of the world if I don't get to all of them, but I would LIKE to. We'll see how I do!

In the meantime -- comment to answer, and we'll see if I can get my brain enough in the game to figure out that damn modlist once and for all. (At least Nexus keeps a download history for me!) Night all! One more day of 2020 to go!
