Well, Pretty Productive Saturday
Jan. 2nd, 2021 11:31 pmDefinitely can't complain with how I managed my to-do list, anyway:
1. Clean my room, natch: Check! As usual, took most of the day (this is what happens when you have a lot of fiddly toys that have to be cleaned carefully if you don’t want to break them), but it’s all sorted for another couple of weeks.
2. Write something -- preferably more of "Londerland Bloodlines," but I will not kick myself if it's something else: Check! I did indeed get a bit more done on “Londerland Bloodlines” – Alice planting the Astrolite (as well as filching a few guns from the office), then managing to sneak back out without issue (mostly because a) she has her invisibility and b) two of the thugs are arguing quite loudly and being a good distraction). She's currently making a run for it through the train yard – plan for one guard to spot her, only for Alice to hit him with a quick blast of hysterical laughter via Dementation. And then the place blows up and everyone has bigger things on their mind. XD Yay for finally getting back to this story properly!
3. Play The Sims 4, my Newcrest Adventures save: Check! Back to my main Victor and Alice, who fortunately aren’t fighting anymore. Their vacation ended just before seven in the morning, with Victor and Alice catching a few more tropical fish (and throwing back some endangered catches) and the kids just hanging out. Back at their house, I spent a decent amount of time clearing out inventories and putting a few of their new treasures up for display – they have a new tropical shelf for some of their rarer shells and Sulani jewelry. :) The kids headed off to school at eight, and shortly afterward I sent Victor and Alice out on a date to the A-Maze-Ing Wonderland Park! They had some very cute moments in the copy of the Liddell Library I made (though I kept having to stop Alice from trying to light the fire – in the middle of a heat wave, no less!), and then played a game of chess together (Alice won, which I’m not THAT surprised by). It was a gold-level date, and ended shortly after the kids came home from school – I sent Victor and Alice, and the family all had a water-balloon fight together! So that was nice. :) After that, the kids ate and bathed, then Victor and Alice helped them with their homework. Day ended with Victor and Alice woohooing in a coffin (because I think it’s funny XD), and Victor completing the Good Vampire aspiration, yay! I am quite pleased by this. :)
4. Catch up on my Subscriptions -- mainly GrayStillPlays and one Wyrd Sisters Podcast I have yet to listen to: I’m saying check, as I covered the stuff mentioned in the actual list item. I haven’t gotten to the Call Me Kevin video uploaded today, but I will do so tomorrow. In the meantime, today’s YouTubing consisted of:
A) The Wyrd Sisters Podcast on – The Last Continent! AKA “Discworld Does Australia, and also the one with the Bursar surfing, which I just think is funny” XD This was a short one for the team (half an hour, when the episodes generally are an hour long), but it covered the plot pretty well, and included a lot of awful jokes and puns along the way. XD The ruling from the sisters was “enjoyable read, but a bit disjointed in the plot,” which, fair. Terry does struggle with that from time to time, and this one does seem to be a bit more about how many goofy Australian things he can reference over a solid storyline. But it’s still funny, so. . .
B) And then onto GrayStillPlays! We had:
1. More Fun With Ragdolls: The Game! And when the episode STARTS with a course with multiple fake ends, that you have to get in order to decipher the correct path, you KNOW it’s gonna be good. XD Poor Gray had to get yeeted so much in order to finally find the actual finish line. . . He also had to climb the tower of hell, and navigate the three-door maze of pain (full of tiles that look okay to land on but will kill you in an instant if you dare). On the plus side, he did have a couple of easier ones to take the edge off, including a laser fall he got first try! So that’s encouraging. :D
2. More Turbo Dismount! Today’s challenges included falling down a terrible hole of blades without losing a limb (Cool Streak scooter did the job); driving through a car volcano without getting blasted (Cool Streak again did the job); getting across Frogger-style lanes of traffic after going down a ginormous hill (the monster truck took over here); and somehow driving along a roads, doing a sharp half-circle turn, going through a loop-de-loop, and then hitting a bullseye JUST RIGHT (the lightest race car eventually made it, but getting that bullseye was a BITCH). First of the year, and Gray was already bringing us prime suffering. I respect that.
3. More Happy Wheels! The bottle flips are getting more and more complex, with more and more ways to throw random junk on the board! Florida Man, alcoholism, THE BOARD ITSELF (seriously, one had a section where it yeeted the bottle away if you got it up there – when Gray did, the board started falling apart – also, this particular board had a CANNON to fire bottles too). . .of course, our boy Gray didn’t let any of that stop him from getting the most impossible bottle flips available! There were also absurdly long bottle runs, another horrifically hard “Gray” level (as in the color AND the player), and an “LSD” board that – well, lived up to the name. Poor Gray sounded a bit like he wanted to cry by the end of that one, poor bastard. XD
5. Work on updating my rules and verses and stuff for my Valice Multiverse RP tumblr: Check in progress – I had a bit of trouble actually getting started, but now I’ve gotten the “about” section rewritten, so I’m at least on my way! Just need to take care of the other stuff now. . .
6. Answer my latest PM from my FF.net friend: Check! Made sure to do that early so it didn’t slip my mind again. At least I’m getting e-mails again to remind me these exist!
And in the famous category of Other:
-->Got in a workout – another 25 minutes on the bike, which means another 25 minutes with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! He finished up clearing out the FMS Northern Star, and grabbed the Agility bobblehead from their ship – that plus two level-ups got him two ranks of the “Gun-Fu” perk, which gives him bonus damage to successive targets in VATS. And given he uses VATS a LOT. . .after that and sleeping on the ship, Jon decided to go and do some stuff for the Atom Cats. He’d apparently been down their way before, to grab their bobblehead (the Unarmed bobblehead) and Hot Rodder magazine and whatnot, but he’d never done their actual quests. Turns out said quest took him back to Warwick – their mechanic, Rowdy, fixed up a pump part for them, and as part of the “hazing” process to be an Atom Cat, sent Grills to go install it. Grills was happy enough to do so (and cheerfully picked the “Meow” option when June asked if he was with the Atom Cats XD), and returned in good humor – just in time for Gunners to attack their settlement! Poor Grills got taken out by a grenade the first time, but the second time he was able to get some height and pick off enemies that way, earning himself some nice XP and official membership into the Cats. :) So now he has a cool leather jacket if he ever wants to avail himself of it. With their friendship earned and stuff looted, he headed over to the nearby Poseidon Energy plant to get the Endurance bobblehead – left him fending off some pretty tanky raiders! Which – makes sense, I guess, given Endurance boosts your hit points (if I remember correctly, anyway)? I just hope the poor guy doesn’t die again!
So yeah -- pretty good Saturday, all things considered! I've certainly had much worse in terms of weekends. Though there is something potentially going on with the car, bleh. . .not entirely sure, but there seems to be some sort of short as it died again while Dad was trying to find a way underneath to change the oil. So far as we can tell, it'll run, but. . .meh. Don't particularly want to start the year off with car trouble!
Ah well -- we'll see where that goes. For now, let me make up the to-do list, then get back to revising my tumblr RP stuff and answering a few comments/queuing a few asks:
1. Make muffins for breakfast now that I'm going back to work on Monday
2. Catch up with Call Me Kevin tomorrow on YouTube
3. Play Fallout 4 and figure out why I'm crashing when I try to get into Concord
4. Write something
5. Get in a workout
6. Watch Jon's latest Fallout 4 YOLO episode
All reasonable for a Sunday, I hope. *sigh* The last Sunday of my long bout of time off. . . Even with some bad moments here and there, it's been a good two weeks. Not looking forward to going back to the office now. Hopefully it won't be too bad once I get back. . .
Okay, that's something to worry about after tomorrow. I still have one day off, and I ought to enjoy it. *nods* Night all!
