Okay Enough Friday
Jan. 22nd, 2021 11:03 pmThe Talker was back, but fortunately not talking THAT much -- or about subjects that make me want to punch things. And while there was stuff to do (including more credit card weirdness), it wasn't like an overwhelming wave right at the start of the day. So can't say work was too bad. I am having some anxiety spikes now from all the talk about COVID variants and whatnot. . .but I'm trying not to think about it too much right now. Worry is for daylight hours. (I am glad we souped up our masks with extra filtering, though.)
Anyway, on a lighter note, let's take a look at the old standard weekday to-do list, shall we?
1. Continue working on the Valice Multiverse "information page" stuff: Check! Brought back the backstory for the “Aperture Wage Slave” verse and added in a more fleshed-out Alice section. “Londerland Bloodlines” is next, which – I may just keep what I wrote for that in my initial draft, instead of bringing in what I wrote way back when for it. My original verses were written back when I was pretending “The Valice Multiverse” was just a Victor Van Dort blog – now that I’ve accepted it’s more multi-muse, and definitely features both Victor AND Alice, it makes a LOT more sense to redesign the LB section to focus on Alice. Slowly but surely getting there with these!
2. Keep up on YouTube Subscription videos: Check – and in contrast to yesterday, we actually had four in the old list! Got through the lot, though –
A) Started with the latest Fun With Shorts – more Lone Ranger cartoon madness with “Day At Death’s Head Pass!” Which is, uh – it’s a short about Tonto going up against some asshole and his volunteer army slaughtering Native Americans pretending it’s “righteous.” Yeah, as you might imagine, Josh made some very topical jokes about the state of the nation these days. Still very funny, but yeaaaah.
B) Then onto James Turner with a Game Changers-sponsored early look at The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff’s Build and Buy, along with debug objects and the new lot type! There’s some nice stuff in this pack – a couch that looks like something a normal person would own (and also a more ‘eclectic’ one); a cool desk and nice display cabinet; some sweet hanging lights and hanging plant; and of course the creepy dolls that I actually think are pretty adorable. XD Not exactly jazzed that the Seance Table and the regular dining table are basically the same object with different tablecloths, but eh – you learn to expect that from EA. There’s also a really nice Haunted House that comes with the pack from Dr. Ashley (another Game Changer), so that’s cool. I think I’m gonna enjoy this pack, if the gameplay holds up. And we’ll see, since James is apparently eager to get back to his latest LP. . .
C) Moved onto Call Me Kevin next, with more Hitman 3! Non-VR mode this time, as he takes 47 to solve a murder mystery! :D No, seriously – one of the levels is to go after this woman part of the mysterious shadow organization that 47 is working to wipe out, and you learn she’s summoned a PI to her mansion for some reason. Disguise yourself as the PI (as Kevin eagerly did after killing the guy with a saber) and you can learn her brother has died under mysterious circumstances, and she’d like the mystery solved. So you can actually go around and solve the mystery – talk to suspects, locate clues, all of that fun stuff. Kevin got really into it. :D He even made a pretty clean kill and escape at the end (well, if you count riding off on a motorcycle in a clown outfit – which I do). It’s fun stuff, and makes me even more excited to see more of this from others. I mean, OXBox owes me lots of “3 Ways To Play,” and Jon from Many A True Nerd is doing videos on it too. . .
D) And of course we wrap up with GrayStillPlays and Happy Wheels! We got some new and interesting boards today – like an inverted bottle flip using boosts instead of flippers (Gray still got the “9999% impossible” section), a board that was simply “can you get up this shockingly steep curve to get to the finish line?” (yes, if Gray abandons his bike and figures out how to flip), a curved spike fall (which Gray actually got on the second try!), and a challenge that was “survive 30 seconds cycling on this constantly-turning mossy meatball” (which actually turned out to be the hardest, because physics is a suggestion in Happy Wheels and Gray found it all too easy to slip down and fall off XD). Also, it was another video sponsored by Raycon, so Gray put the earbuds on a cinderblock and hit it with a sledgehammer. Maybe not as epic as some of his past efforts, but it was satisfying to see the block break! :D
3. Get in a workout: No check today – I decided to take the night off (or, rather, I got wrapped up in stuff (including downloading an update to “Advanced Needs 2”) and realized a little late that it was almost six). I’ll see if I can get back to the adventures of Grills and Nick tomorrow!
Eh, two out of three, and I can catch up on the third tomorrow if I like. I'll take it. Also caught up on my webcomics, and got my Valice Multiverse queue done (one thread, two asks, easy-peasy). Just catching up on comments now and getting in a little last bit of hanging-out time before going to do the writing thing. Gonna appreciate getting to sleep in late again tomorrow. . . I mean, I hope I don't do like I did a couple of weekends ago and sleep until 11:30, but given the trouble I had with insomnia a couple of nights ago. . .I was better last night, though, so fingers crossed.
Okay, let's wrap this up with the Saturday to-dos:
1. Continue working on the Valice Multiverse "information page" stuff
2. Watch the three Plumbella videos in my Watch Later, and keep up on Subscriptions
3. Try to track down the cause of the "Concord Crash" in Fallout 4 (starting point: disabling that cryo/pulse grenade tweaks mod, rolling back to the last save where I can be reasonably sure it was off, and heading STRAIGHT to Concord from there)
4. Get in a workout
5. OPTIONAL -- if FO4 gets to be too annoying, be a horrible goose for a while
I think this will all work, yeah. Okay, let's wrap up comments and do the thing -- night all!
