As we had a middle-of-the-night power loss last night! A little after 12 -- I was trying to get to sleep when suddenly my CD player went dead. I thought for a second it had reset itself, but then realized it was a lot darker in my room than I thought it should be. . . Cue me feeling around for my flashlight and trying to set my phone alarm and wondering what I should do. Dad woke up a little while later, and we pottered around together for a couple of minutes -- and then everything came back on, and we both went to bed. Couldn't have been out for more than twenty minutes tops, which is good. Still, didn't really need THAT in the dead of the night!
Anyway -- got up around 8 AM, to find the power still on and the roads more slushy than anything else. Had raisin toast for breakfast and hung out until I had to get to work -- and then discovered more fun with credit cards and suchlike, and proceeded to have a reasonably stressful day. *sigh* I could have taken people calling in to update credit cards if I wasn't also trying to research stuff that had gone into the wrong campaigns! Bleeeh. . . Surprising how little time it takes for me to get stressed out there. But then again, given what the world is like these days. . .
On a more positive note, still smashing the to-do lists:
1. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Checkaroonie – and, again, was able to smash out some bonus videos too. :)
A) Started with an early watch of James Turner’s latest “3 Brothers” episode – he’d just uploaded, I had an hour-and-a-half delay this morning, why not? :p The “SHE” from last episode turned out to be Temperance, Guidry’s ex and a very angry ghost. James did his best to have Brodie make friends (via the time-tested medium of picture-taking), but it didn’t stop her from possessing and wrecking all their objects and leaving so many creepy dolls around the place that Isaiah and Brodie were literally trapped in the séance and living rooms respectively. XD Fortunately Guidry was on hand to smash a few and provide Wraith Wax to make Sacred Candles to bring the mood of the place up a bit. And Bonehilda, once summoned, happily helped clean and repair everything!
Unfortunately, that didn’t stop the water from getting shut off for non-payment of bills. Didn’t help that James kept buying vampire tomes to have Isaiah study up on his Vampire Lore skill so he could eventually discover the vampire cure. . .or, after selling the laundry stuff (because apparently the latest patch bugged it? *grumbles*), accidentally using that money to bribe Isaiah’s boss for a raise/promotion in his rather shitty Conservationist job. XD For some reason he thought he’d be GETTING extra money. . . He tried sending Isaiah to busk with his keyboard over at the gym in San Myshuno, but everyone was distracted by the presence of a celebrity. Plus his keyboard skills aren’t exactly, uh, up to snuff yet. . . At least Brodie got a promotion at work! And got to drink the blood of Father Winter, as it was Summerfest! And finally, FINALLY managed to win some more fights against his uncle Caleb and level up enough to get Sun Resistance! So he can finally go out in the daytime again, yay~ Small victories! Because that’s all anyone is getting in this LP. XD Hey, remember when this was supposed to be about Snowy Escape? I think James has completely forgotten about that pack at this point. (And he WORKED on it!)
B) Then, this evening, Call Me Kevin had another cover for us! “Jolene” this time, sung very beautifully to his own guitar playing. He really has an incredible voice. :)
C) After that, I definitely had time for extra videos – why not check out what OXBox and OXtra have brought to the table this evening?
1. “7 Coolest QTEs that Justified the Existence of Quick Time Events” – exactly what it says on the tin, Quick-Time-Events that actually didn’t cause us players to explode into rage. :p Like the one in Shenmue 2 that you HAVE to fail to proceed. Or one in a flight sim where you have one QTE at the end to perform a triumphant fist pump. XD Or the Yakuza 5 one where you PUNCH A BEAR. Those games ALWAYS have to show up everyone else. . .
2. “7 Star Wars Games You’ll Never Get to Play” – again, exactly what it says on the tin – canceled games from the SW universe whose lack of existence Warsies mourn. Like “Project Ragtag,” which was supposed to be about playing as rogues planning a heist, with Uncharted-style gameplay, or Star Wars 1313, which maybe could have starred Boba Fett in the criminal underworld of Coruscant. I’m just saying, any of these probably would have been better than Journey To Batuu. . .
D) And then back to my Subscriptions for GrayStillPlays more Happy Wheels! Yes, it was back to 2-D carnage tonight – the best kind. XD We had a bottle flip so full of yeet Gray didn’t know what to do with it; a crooked bottle run that went straight into a spike fall; a table run where Gray had to sled on a table, then somehow get through a pit of soccer balls to find victory; a “get in the box” challenge where he had to maneuver Nixon into a tiny gap in a box; and an “impossible” spike fall where the “real” ending had a floor over it – except for one tiny gap near the flag, which Gray was determined to wiggle over to and touch. XD And yes, he made it there – dude never gives up, remember?
2. Work on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Edited my first page of that – Alice is having an argument with some of the Wonderlanders outside of the apartment building where Fish, her-soon-to-be sire, is waiting. It’s pretty fun to come back to this now that I’ve had a bit of time away from it. And I suspect writing is going to go a lot smoother now that I’ve gotten all the first draft “compulsively checking people’s LPs for what happens next” bits out of the way!
3.Get in a workout: Check! Another bike ride, another chunk of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! I caught up with Grills as he reactivated the Fog Condensers on the way to the water purifiers that serve Far Harbor. Jon was expecting a bunch of Mirelurks to spawn and make his life hell, and – he was sort of right. Yes, some Mirelurks spawned, but they were basic Softshells and the like – easily taken out with grenades and the Crippling Plasma Scattergun. Jon was confused (since Grills is really high level these days) but grateful, and headed up the road to Far Harbor itself to start turning in quests (and buy a few rare bullets from Allen). He started with Avery, who promised to honor the fallen Harold as a hero; spoke to Brooks to learn the location of the missing synth; then popped over to Cassie to give her the good news about the campground and get the next location of her quest – Dalton Farms, to kill a Fog Crawler (apparently mutated giant shrimp) that killed her grampa. Grills agreed to avenge Grampa George, then encountered Pearl, a Miss Nanny in the area looking for law enforcement to help solve a murder at the Cliff’s End hotel. I know what this should be about, and I’m excited to see what happens when Grills goes there! :D
Grills’s first destination, though – Old Longfellow’s cabin (which was doubly important with him trekking through a radstorm to get there!). He met up with Longfellow again, then claimed the workbench and started scrapping stuff to build himself a little base on the island. After being unable to build his prefab shack, he instead settled on a trailer, with a bed, dresser for holding spare objects, and an oil lamp for light. Yes, an old timey oil lamp in the middle of what looks like a truck trailer. This game sometimes. XD With that sorted, Grills finally popped out of the power armor he bought (as Longfellow has a power armor station conveniently in his shed), ate, drank, and settled down for a good night’s sleep (with Nick just – standing outside, I guess).
Next morning, the adventure continued, with the greatly lightened trio heading back onto the road to get to Dalton Farms so Grills could continue Cassie’s quest line and get some more settlements. The road was relatively quiet – they came across the special Vim!-themed power armor, a legendary Angler that Jon decided was not worth the effort, and a pair of Super Mutants that he killed easily with some well-tossed grenades. When they came up to Dalton Farms, he was initially annoyed to discover the Fog Crawler was a Legendary – then remembered he bought his Gauss Rifle and pulled that out to get a sneak-attack crit that one-shotted the creature’s head right off. XD Sadly it didn’t have any really good gear, but Jon won’t say no to the meat, nor to the possibility of future settlements! We’ll see what happens when he reports back to Cassie.
4. Get tumblr queues sorted: Check! One plus about having a text update on Wednesday instead of multiple picture updates – it becomes a lot easier to set up the rest of your queue for the week after getting that post done! :) I edited the post I drafted the other day and slapped that in for tomorrow on Victor Luvs Alice, then followed it up with some reblogs and a quick progress report on “In A World Of His Own” (more or less just saying, “Hey, I’m working on it again!”). And over on Valice Multiverse I only had a couple of asks – slapped a couple of reblogs of nice Victor and Alice art in to fill it up a little more, and I was good!
And now it's time to finish up answering DW comments and head to bed, in the hopes that my sleep will not again be curtailed by power outages. At least I'm already down to three more days to get through! And while the weather isn't the greatest the rest of the week, I think we're clear of more snow, at least for now. Hooray. We'll see how tomorrow goes -- night all!
