Stormy Tuesday
Jun. 22nd, 2021 11:12 pmYeah, we had high humidity followed by lots of rain and even a bit of thunder and lightning! Fortunately no hail, like the radio was warning of in Massachusetts. . .and now things seem to have quieted down a fair bit. Tomorrow's supposed to be much nicer and drier -- I certainly hope so!
Anyway, to the list:
Work – Another fairly quiet day, with me looking up more credit card stuff and fixing some bad pledges and whatnot. You know, pretty much the usual. Hooray for no major disasters.
Beanbags – Definitely not, given it started pouring halfway through the afternoon, with thunder and lightning. Fortunately the latter had stopped by the time we all got home, but yeaaaah, no bags today!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – 30 minutes on the bike, and I did indeed get my YouTube password and signed in on my own account on the downstairs TV so I could watch things on it! However, it didn’t work out quite how I envisioned – I forgot that I like to comment on my “main” videos when I watch them, and a lot of what’s ending up in my Subs is pretty long these days, so fitting them into a single workout session. . .eeeh. (Not to mention today I was distracted by trying to help my Mom transfer music across to different MP3 players via her computer, thus I forgot my water when I went down and was further distracted by that.) I DID clear out something I just added to my Watch Later, though – Plumbella finding a self-Sim of herself, giving it a cottage-core makeover, then doing her own REAL-LIFE makeover based on what she did to the Sim (including dying her hair ginger and buying herself a miniskirt). She liked most of it, but wasn’t a fan of the skirt (preferring long skirts and pajama pants). Still, I like the bold look of the red hair, and a glimpse into her everyday life outside the camera (including having to dodge her cats trying to steal her coffee) was interesting. XD
I also watched the Carl’s Sims Guides review of Dream Home Decorator, which – ooof, brutal. Carl was not shy about pointing out how easy it is to game the system with the limited likes and dislikes you can get (just make sure to stick in a bunch of items that are the right color and they won’t even mind there’s a dog poo on the floor!), the fact that you don’t even have to do the room you were contracted to do (the game can’t recognize you’re in the “wrong” room), the whole “you can steal with abandon thanks to clients’ items ending up in YOUR household inventory” thing, the bug of “in houses that are actually furnished properly, it’s surprisingly hard to add a room as you can’t put in a door!”. . . Yeah, he was not impressed, and this further solidifies my desire to wait until it’s on sale and been patched a few times to actually get this particular pack. I mean, I think I could have fun with it, but – if I’m going to get ANY pack soon after release, it’s probably going to be Cottage Living. And even then, I’ll wait to see what my usual Simmers say about it first!
So yeah – while I probably will keep using my own account instead of cluttering my parents’ with videos on Fallout 4 and Sims 4, I might just use this to keep my Watch Later from getting too cluttered, rather than trying to keep up on Subs. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow!
2. Work some more on the HypnoKink Notes Document: Check – did some more with the magic section, doing write-ups of everyone’s abilities in this verse and tweaking things here and there. Victor and Bonejangles’s shared ability of “manipulate your surroundings to tell a story while you’re doing something musical” (BJ’s ability to shape shadows into different objects and figures while singing; Victor’s will be to bend light in a similar way while playing piano) now has a name – Musicshaping! So that’s good. :) Just have to finish up the descriptions of each ability, then I can move onto cleaning up my list of potential stories for the verse and whatnot. :)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Three-fifths check again, but at least I am catching up slightly. . .also, surprise delight at the end of this list –
A) Started catching up a bit on James’s uploads – today was the latest episode of “Rags to Redecoration” from a couple of days ago! Three major things happened this episode:
I. Hazel visited the Romance festival! Just to get out of the house, you know? She met Ambrose Bigwallet, found herself in conversation with an unnamed ghost (the comments suggested this was an unnamed Sim spawned to be the Flower Bunny at one point), drank some Sakura Tea, got into a few fights (it was also Neighborhood Brawl), and eventually left early because she really needed to go to the bathroom and upgrade more of her appliances.
II. Hazel went and did her big level renovation for the Fryes – who lived in one of James’s own old builds! A big mansion he built back in 2015, damn. The Fryes proved to be very difficult clients, though, offering up such contradictions as both liking and disliking the color brown, and liking and disliking garden décor. Frustrated, James decided to kick them out of the house, do a few minor updates to the floors and wallpapers, then focus on improving the old side living room by getting rid of his fake split-leveling (apparently achieved by just building walls on flat earth?) and turning it into a real split-level with platforms.
. . .The game was so opposed to him trying to put actual floor in the room that he had to turn the “free build” cheat on. Which completely ruined his budget, meaning Hazel technically remade the entire room – with a nice new TV area in front of a giant sectional couch, a foozball table, and a grand piano – for a total of $240. WELP. At least Hazel got a good review of the room – one of the residents just wasn’t feeling it, but the other two were sufficiently impressed that Hazel got paid $16,800 for the gig. Plus she stole a nice painting of sloths. XD
III. The “power is always off when she returns to the lot” glitch is NOT going away, so we’re moving next episode! Taking all of Hazel’s upgraded items, of course (she is VERY handy these days). We’ll see where she ends up in the worlds!
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin, doing a sponsored video for Enlisted! This is your standard “World War II-based multiplayer shooter” (well, I assume it’s just WWII, there may be WWI content I haven’t seen), with Kevin trying out the newest Battle of Berlin campaign, both in Squad Mode (where you go around with squads of AI-controlled characters that you can hijack when you’re killed) and Lone Wolf Mode (where you are a lone soldier fighting with his brothers on the battlefield). And – he was actually quite good! He was on the German side in Squad, and actually got quite a lot of kills with his various characters! I mean, he also walked into fire a few times, and his side still lost, but – well, considering they were on the GERMAN side in a WWII conflict, Kevin decided that was probably for the best. XD Lone Wolf was done as a Soviet soldier, attacking Hitler’s bunker of all places – Kevin spent most of the battle following around this one player with the username “Magic Potato.” Irish joke, blah blah blah. XD This time, his side won, which is at least a victory for continued stability in the timeline! XD At any rate, Kevin seemed to be having a very good time (shocked at his own competence), and it was nice to see him having a good time. All that Call of Duty from the old days finally coming in handy!
C) Then it was time for GrayStillPlays – AND CALL ME KEVIN! Yes, Gray was back in GTA today – only this time, he was doing multiplayer boards! And one of the people he was doing them with was Kevin! Also a dude called DangerouslyFunny (DF for short) who is apparently Canadian and much calmer than these two. XD They played their way through various courses of pain, like “stand on this platform shooting RPGs at the person or persons trying to crush you and your platform with an SUV” (Gray was generally pretty good at this), “run this maze while someone else snipes at your from afar and tries to kill you with environmental hazards” (Gray and DF got off some pretty epic snipes – at least until Kevin managed to get to the rocket launcher at the top; also Kevin tried to dump a dump truck on Gray – and Gray GOT IN the dump truck, thinking he was supposed to drive it, and then fell off the board entirely when he got out XD), another “kill the person on the platform by launching yourself in a car at them before they blow you up” board (hilariously, on one attempt all THREE of them ended up dead because two of them managed to kill each other at the same time, so nobody won that round), and then finished up with Kevin’s Lawnmower Race (a course through the suburbs on lawnmowers, where you have to navigate around pools and do sidewinders up steep ramps – DF somehow managed to come in first thanks to them desperately trying not to slide down the final slope)! It was delightful and made me so so happy. Especially since this means there might be more collabs in the future. . .
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Three asks on Valice Multiverse, and I adjusted the queue to have all of Newcrest Adventures post on Wednesday and added a Thursday post to the mix on Victor Luvs Alice. Progress!
So yeah, not bad, not bad at all. . .we'll see if this trend continues through the rest of the week. For now, I gotta finish up comments and get to bed. Three more days. . .night all!
