crossover_chick: a vampire version of Alice Liddell and a human Victor Van Dort kissing (SIMS: Vamp!Alice and Victor Smooches)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Aaand first thing when I woke up this morning, I got my period. *sigh* I mean, I KNEW it was coming, and it was getting to the stage where I just WANTED it to show up because it was pissing me off, but still. Why today? And then getting the yearly picture was a bit of a pain in the ass, as Mom's phone was acting up, taking a dozen pictures at once and then not activating the countdown properly. . .she FINALLY got it to work, but we were wondering for a while!

That aside, though, I actually had a pretty good day. The proof is in the to-do list:

1. Write something appropriately romantic/sweet for the Valice Anniversary: Check – at least if you’re me. XD Since I’ve been working on my Hypnokink stuff, I ended up rereading the wedding-based story I have for that (“Love Honor And Obey”), then doing a snippet in the Notes document about that Victor and Alice’s first anniversary, where Alice gets Victor a very special present. He does too, honestly, but a real-life version of her Omega necklace is a little less kinky than a collar. XD There’s not even any kinkery fuckery – just Victor getting it and being a little overwhelmed that the woman he loves would give this to him. Again, it’s romantic and sweet if you’re me! XD

2. Watch the OXBox Hitman videos in the Watch Later along with YouTube Subs: Check, though I did end up substituting what OXBox videos I watched today – I will elaborate below –

A) Started after lunch with the latest “Rags to Redecoration” episode from James Turner – Hazel did a double renovation of sorts, starting with a super-expensive level renovation gig in one of his girlfriend Deligracy’s Newcrest builds! Said build was a giant mansion full of stuff, so James decided to focus on one room, and ended up basically just replacing every piece of furniture with suburban contemporary replacements (as that was the liked décor style) and the stereo in the corner with a computer because somebody like programming. One client was “eh,” but the rest quite liked it, so Hazel got a payday of almost $20,000 (both from finishing the gig and getting promoted to Certified Interior Designer) and also swiped an $8,000 painting from the house, so she brought home a pretty hefty paycheck! Which was promptly poured into her own house, specifically the basement bedroom remodel!

Which. . .didn’t go as smoothly as James would have liked. He couldn’t decide on an entrance to the walk-in robe, he struggled with finding the perfect placement for the bedroom TV (the room is JUST big enough that putting it on the far wall feels awkward, he kept fiddling with the placement of stuff in the bathroom. . .he ended up leaving the part with everything sort of half-finished, looking for comments on how he could improve. Oh, and Hana (yes, one ‘n,’ not two, I didn’t see her name properly written down before) called up to say she was questioning her opinion of Hazel because she tried to fight someone at the end of Fool’s Day, and what was supposed to be a friendly scrap turned nasty because the holiday ended just as they were finishing up. Hmph. This is why Hazel needs to move to the countryside sooner rather than later!

B) Then it was a quick swing over to Plumbella’s latest video where she used the Goth family to check out the Sim Sessions concert! She really liked it too – she likes the ideas of these little pop-up festivals in the worlds around the main lots, as a way to get Sims out of the house and give them more to do in the world. And she thinks it’s a better way to promote people they may be working with than just having celebrities talk about how they like the Sims too. Which, yeah, honestly, I can get behind that too! More pop-up festivals like this WOULD be fun – I like the standard stuff that came with City Living, I could get behind this too!

C) Then, after Sims and before my workout, I looked at my options for videos and decided the best thing to do was to watch Call Me Kevin play Muck! This is one of those survival sims – you get spawned into a random world at a random point, and have to find food, build yourself a shelter, and survive wave after wave of enemies starting from night one! Poor Kevin really struggled in the first three tries – beating up monsters with rocks after trying to make a nice house, then getting slaughtered again and again and again – but then the fourth one put him close to a settlement he could loot and he got some good stuff! Including mithril ore, allowing him to make mithril weapons and destroy all those who stood against him! Until he met the guardian of this one particular boat and got his ass kicked in one shot. XD Aw man, he tried so hard, and got so far. . . I hope he comes back to it, though! It looks like a fun game, and I tend to enjoy him playing survival sims. They’re always very hilariously chaotic. XD

D) And then it was over to the OXBox, which – okay, the Hitman 3 content I was going to watch today consisted of two videos – Mike playing Jane’s “featured contract” for the game, and Jane playing Andy’s. I was expecting a similar video to pop up today of Andy playing Mike’s, but it didn’t show. I have, however, confirmed that Mike DOES have an on-brand featured contract, and I am certain that Andy is going to have to play it, and he’s going to have to blow people up. XD With that in mind, I’d rather watch all three in a row if I get the chance, so I instead decided to clear out a bunch of list videos! I got through –

I. “7 Times the Game Wasn’t Angry It Was Just Disappointed” – times when games looked at the player doing something stupid and just went “ugh,” basically. From South Park: The Fractured But Whole’s Cartman making comparisons to Tom Brady and the Patriots taping scandal if you looked up a code early, to Resident Evil Village’s The Duke clapping sarcastically if you try to kill him with your weapons, to GTA V’s Michael sending nasty text messages to Franklin if he insists on hitting his house with a rocket launcher, these games make it known they expected your shenanigans and aren’t exactly happy. (Though if you get Batman to punch out a keypad in his frustration over you not being able to solve a security camera footage puzzle, you get a free trip to the next part of the level, soooo. . .)

II. “7 Bosses Who Were Having Way More Fun Than You Were” – boss fights that seemed to be more fun for your opponent than for you! From Jack Baker having the time of his life tormenting you across Resident Evil 7, to Stefano trying so hard to make you his perfect art piece in The Evil Within 2, to Joker just having the time of his life making sure Batman never truly knows peace across the Arkham series, you know these bosses are enjoying the game more than you are. And since they’re pixels on a screen being beaten up, that’s – kinda sad, really. Man.

III. “7 Fake Game Overs That Had Us Totally Fooled” – games that decided to pretend to end sooner than they actually do, because they think that’s funny. From Control seemingly ending with the protagonist getting possessed – at least until the credits start warping; to Donkey Kong Country seemingly ending after a few bops on the head to King K. Rool – at least until the credits all start with “Ks;” to Just Shapes and Beats doing a double fake-out where the first fake death is met with a firm punching and you have to be resurrected AGAIN, games do like to pull the rug out from under their players! Often via funky credits. :p (And yes, the Metal Gear series was mentioned early on and specifically excluded from the list, otherwise it would likely being mostly MG games. XD Can’t beat a classic “Fission Mailed,” right?)

E) Then we wrapped up with GrayStillPlays and more Happy Wheels! We had a couple of harpoon dodges and jump challenges (one with a secret win!), a glass break and a very long jet fall, and an Among Us themed-board, but the stars of the show tonight were “Rope Swing Strawberry” – a long rope swing board where it STARTED at “hard” and slowly grew to “impossible” as Gray navigated a hellish field of ropes just far apart enough to make it hard to swing between them, invisible conveyor belts, and perfectly timed jumps – and then the creator faked him out with a fake “nah, the win isn’t here” message before letting his character reach said win – and “Gray Saves The Yeet” – an extremely long board with a story about Max Yeetus saving his Yeetinator 9001 from the machinations of the Evil Brakes Company while losing multiple limbs (and his child) to his own yeeting. Gray thoroughly enjoyed the plotline and screwing over the Brakes Company, if not so much being turned to JELLO every time he got yeeted at the beginning XD Good times!

3. Play Sims 4: The Chill Save and see if I can get through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with that Victor and Alice: Check! Popped into here right after watching Plumbella – and I did indeed get through the entire weekend with them! :) Here is a brief rundown of how the three days went –

Friday: Main thing that happened here was Alice making poor fruit-and-yogurt parfait and being disgusted with her and Victor’s cheap fridge, so I went ahead and got them some new, nicer kitchen appliances and counters while they were at class. Mortimer Goth also came over for a brief visit (he and Alice are friends). Mainly, though, it was all about the classwork – going to class and starting stuff like their presentations and Alice’s term paper. Trust me, university takes up a LOT of your time in Sims 4, even if you’re living off-campus like these two.

Saturday: Pop-up holiday Neighborhood Brawl! Victor and Alice spent most of the day finishing off their presentations, but they were both able to fight Clement Frost (their friend in common, who came over for a brief visit) and Felipe Sisson (Victor’s friend, who invited them over his house – Victor and Alice both got to know his new son Brennan, and Victor his wife Paola). Both won both fights too, which is amusing. XD Led to a FEW hard feelings, but not too many, fortunately. Still, I’m glad I didn’t have them fight each other to fulfill the holiday!

Sunday: Time for Sim Sessions – just in time for the start of the Fall season in-game too! Victor’s grapes and snapdragons are now growing, along with his apple tree. :) He and Alice spent the morning playing on the piano and painting, then shortly after noon went to Magnolia Park to check out the performances. It was a nice little festival, honestly – I liked the Simlish songs, even if I’m not familiar with any of the artists involved. XD And Victor and Alice each bought a t-shirt (Alice the “Summer of Sims” one, Victor the “Sims Sessions” one), leading me to adjust their outfits when they got home. Victor also got invited into the Garden Gnomes club, so I’ll have to have him attend a gathering next time I play this file!

So yeah, got a lot done there! :) I’m glad I came around on Sim Sessions, honestly – I mean, I still wish they’d prioritized fixing bugs in the patch that introduced it, but still. It was a fun thing to go to, and I’m glad my Sims were able to attend in at least ONE save. :)

4. Get in a workout: Check – another thirty on the bike, and another chunk of that video on cosmic horror in the Bestheda-helmed Fallout games! The creator finished off his discussion of Fallout 4 (noting that the Far Harbor DLC in its entirety feels like a nod to Stephen King’s horror stories in particular, and a few other little miscellaneous bits and pieces), and I’m currently at the tail end of the Fallout 76 section, with its creepy locations (spooky stones that apparently map onto one of the – well, maps, but to what purpose no one can say), plant life (strangler vines sound super spooky – and that town that’s somehow GROWN INTO THE SKY on what looks like some sort of tree? Wild), and now the creatures (I believe Mothman is going to get a special mention). It’s interesting stuff, and makes me want to get even creepier with anything I might write for “Fallout of Darkness” that involves good old Ug-Qualtoth.

So yeah, check on everything, even if I ended up substituting the OXBox. On the other hand, I've had those list videos hanging around for a WHILE, so. . . Anyway, just gotta finish up by clearing out the DW comment, watching some final Victor and Alice content on the YouTubes, then heading to bed. A day and a half of work follows, after all -- hopefully nothing too horrible! We'll see though. . .night all!
