Tuesday The 13th
Jul. 13th, 2021 11:25 pmIt wasn't too bad, really, but there were a few nasty bits, as detailed in the "work" section of the Standard Update Form:
Work – Another fairly quiet day – I spent most of it reviewing stuff that needs to be fixed by the credit card people and trying to get it into nice documents to e-mail to my boss tomorrow. *shrug* It’s a living! Worst part about it was honestly the ride in and back – accident this morning, meaning we were moving slow, and I had some idiot behind me eating at the wheel and making my blood pressure spike regularly every time he got close to me; and then this afternoon was just all the speed demons and people feeling like they were going to pull into the side of me. Ugh – have I mentioned lately I hate driving?
Beanbags – Another gray day – less rain, but still plenty of humidity, so no, no beanbags. POSSIBLY tomorrow, but we’ll have to wait and see!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – more time on the bike, which I used to finish off The English Simmer ranking all of the various hobbies/skills you can have your Sims do in The Sims 4 (while bemoaning the lack of a Freetime-style pack for the game). It was interesting to see what she really liked (apparently she’s a big fan of wellness and yoga!) and didn’t (she hates that damn pipe organ from Vampires). Though it really highlighted for me just how stuff I don’t play with in this game. I mean, despite having mad scientist Sims, I’ve yet to touch the robotics skill, or fabrication, or. . . I mean, I try to mix it up a bit with my Newcrest Adventures Sims (Eric being into wellness being a prime example), but I feel like I’ve been playing them too long and I’m stuck in a rut. This is why I like playing my Chill Save – even if that Victor and Alice aren’t in Britechester, at least they’re actually going to University! – and why I want to do stuff like a “Super Sim” save and a “challenges” save – that’ll FORCE me to experience more of the game overall! And apparently I really do need that kick in the pants. Though I am committed to finishing off this final round of Newcrest Adventures first – if only to see if I can finally get Wheatley to max his Doctor career. Would be nice!
2. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check! The big crash-into-hello has happened, with Victor smacking right into Alice while trying to temporarily escape his mother. He was very apologetic, and stunned Alice with a surprise compliment about her eyes – which he realized too late was rather forward a thing to say to a woman he’s just run into and whom he doesn’t even know the name of. XD Alice for her part is going to admit to being pleased about the compliment later, but doesn’t think anything will come of it. After all, she doesn’t know she’s going to see him again the very next day. XD
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – and bonus, because supper was short and I didn’t need to spend that time making muffins, I actually got to knock out a Watch Later video! So that was nice – one little extra accomplishment for the day. :p
A) Started with onlyabidoang and one of his “50 Details” videos – but this one was for stuff that’s in Sims 4 that’s not in the previous games! An unexpected addition to the family, that’s for sure. It had some good stuff, though – in addition to things like “Sims have a random handedness trait that determines if they favor their left or right hand while eating or holding objects” and “cats can ride the robot vacuums in Cats & Dogs,” you also had stuff like “Sims who play with the doctor toy as a child then grow up to be an actual doctor or vet get a special happy moodlet about achieving a childhood dream,” “Simlish is now properly lip-synced rather than mouth flaps being tied solely to whatever animations the Sims are doing,” “the eyes on the big stuffed toys will either look happy or sad depending on how you treat them,” and “the quality of a drink determines what kind of cup it’s in – good quality gets glass, bad quality gets plastic.” It’s pretty neat stuff, and shows that Sims 4 does a few things right. :P
B) Then it was over to James Turner for his latest short building video for Cottage Living – a small British cottage! It’s two stories, but they’re two VERY SMALL stories – the downstairs bathroom is a 2X1 wash closet, for instance, and both bedrooms are three tiles wide. But there’s everything you could need for a three-Sim family in there, and the garden is just chock-full of pretty plants and whatnot. Plus a chicken coop and three big veggie plots for you to grow things in! :) It’s very cute, though I think that, if I personally downloaded it, I’d HAVE to make the house a skoosh bigger. I don’t like homes that are too cramped – I want my Sims to have some space to breathe and walk around.
C) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin for a trip back to his Sims 2 save and CallMeKevin TheYouTuber’s cursed life. XD Things were particularly cursed this episode – not only did Kevin keep forcing his Sims to leave baby Test Tube 1 out on the road, turns out the carpool will totally drive over babies. Not RUN them over – baby was fine – but it will drive over them. Kevin was outright shocked that this was possible. XD People who were NOT fine, however? xZSniperZx, Sim!Kevin’s daughter, and Vidcund, both of whom DIED this episode. We’re not sure what took out Sniper – though the maid stealing the toaster oven when the family couldn’t afford to pay her probably contributed – but Vidcund was explicitly scared to death by one of his own brothers. Not before being abducted, going to one day of work to earn enough money for the family to buy a shower, and producing a second alien baby (Test Tube 2), though! XD Sim!Kevin briefly invited his coworker in the Athletic career to move in before all the drama went down, but it was just a trap to get the guy to take the newly-toddler Test Tube 1 with him, as Kevin didn’t know what to do with the kid. So yeah, between all that, the family is down to three – Sim!Kevin, his son PoliticalTalk, and Test Tube 2. On the plus side, they have a toaster oven and food again! Yay?
D) And we wrapped up with GrayStillPlays and another GTA V stunt course – driving to the bottom of the sea! No, literally, after a number of fun steep drops and slides with a truck with floaters and a minigun mounted on top, the board takes you, via a series of tubes, UNDER THE OCEAN. First you have to navigate a twisty tube course with all sorts of obstacles while driving upside-down; then you literally have to swim through another series of tubes and cylinders (and all sorts of mines); and THEN you finally get a sub-car and get to drive through the homemade tire Megalodon to the win. XD Along the way there are many troll areas and many, many ways to die. Gray’s commentary was an interesting mix of having a blast and cursing the board creator’s name. One of the best GTA V boards in a while! :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! On Victor Luvs Alice, I made an effort to get the Chill Save Sims update done after I got my regular writing sorted, and I already had some posts drafted/ready-to-reblog for the next couple of days, so I’m good through Friday in the old queue. :) Or Thursday, if I forget to reset the post count after tomorrow, but given I still need to figure out something for Song Saturday I think I’ll remember. :P
On Valice Multiverse, four ask replies – three I did this morning, one tonight. Nothing too major! I’ll take it.
So yeah, that's all been good -- and I've been talking Bloodlines with my friend Squid on tumblr, which is always fun. Between that and Gigs's encouragement *waves*, I'm feeling a little more sure about actually putting up some of "Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica's Deluded Depths." Want to get a little further into the chapter I'm working on first, but. . .we'll see! As it stands, I have to finish up here and head to bed -- night all!
