crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

Today was the hottest of them all, I think, and it felt it. Hard to believe it's supposed to cool off so much Saturday morning. . .we live in hope! And, for now, in AC, because damn. Tis hot. *fans self*

Anyway, your updates for the day --

Work – Extremely quiet day in the form of two of my supervisors took the day off, and the third was out for a family emergency. And my coworkers left for longer-than-you-would-think coffee walks twice. And then borrowed a vacuum to clean the office, meaning my lunch was delayed because I was trying to wait for them to finish. *grumbles* At least tomorrow’s a half-day, meaning I only have to put up with the bullshit until 1:30. . .

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – slightly more than thirty on the bike today, to get through Episode 18 of Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Miss Jon did something unprecedented here – dismissed Dogmeat as a companion and took on a human – and then didn’t immediately dismiss the human. Mostly because, for once, she wanted the extra firepower a human companion could provide. To be specific, she picked up Piper from Publick Occurrences (after building Dogmeat a little house back at base), then brought her back to Sanctuary and had her jump in the T-51b power armor. Miss Jon took the T-60 for herself, and the pair of them started the journey to the Castle! Aided in this instance by fast-traveling to the Dartmoor building and heading up the highway. There were a number of little scrapes along the way – various run-ins with raiders; a Deathclaw that fortunately ended up running right past them; Piper tanking a shot from a Super Mutant Suicider (destroying a good chunk of her armor along the way – Past!Jon was quite peeved); checking out the General Atomics factory and clearing out the robots there (weird to see it pre-Automatron!); checking out the Gwinnett restaurant and brewery and taking on the Super Mutants in there; and picking up a Cavalier’s Combat Knife off a Legendary Raider (Past!Jon bemoaned all the Legendary melee weapons he was getting; I wonder if this is what inspired the No Guns run with Bacon?). But eventually they made it through to the Castle (where Miss Jon ended up breaking time slightly by waiting until daytime to actually see the darn structure mid-conversation with Preston), and went inside, where, as expected, they ended up fighting a Mirelurk Queen. Miss Jon was forced into using drugs to combat the creature (getting sprayed with acid all the while, ouch) – and then fell off the outer wall, leaving Preston to kill it while she killed the hatchlings outside. XD Radio was powered up, a bunch of new Minutemen quests assigned, and that was that! Well, except for hauling Piper back to Sanctuary so Miss Jon could fix her Power Armor. XD But that’ll be done off-camera. Next time – judging by the title, the Fort Strong mission! Past!Jon indicated he might be heading that way. . .

2. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check! Alice has relayed how she came to stay in Rutledge Asylum – much to Victor’s anger once he realizes she means as a child. Alice is taken aback by his fury, since no one else has ever been this upset over it. She placates him by explaining that she literally had nowhere else to go, and talk has now turned to her original adventure through a ruined Wonderland (aka American McGee’s Alice). Good times, so to speak!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check, plus a couple little extras, since it’s Gray’s day off –

A) Actually started with a couple of GrayStillPlays Shorts! The man himself may not be posting for the plebs today, but somebody (possibly official) has been animating a few of his choice quotes with Reginald from the Minecraft stuff. It’s amusing and oddly adorable, frankly!

B) Then it was onto Plumbella’s upload of the day – a review of the recently-released Industrial Loft Kit! I think her title kind of sums it up: “I like the Industrial Loft Kit...but isn't it already in base game? (Review)” Yes, she noted that a number of the pieces have similar-looking counterparts already in-game, which made her go “hmmmm” – though she did quite like the bed, and the couch, and the mid-sized bar height table. And the wall decals, which I will admit are nice. But it’s not much, and she admits that this one REALLY comes down to personal taste – if you really like this style, you may want to get it. Just, uh, don’t expect the window that was in the promo right away. . . (Yeaaaah, there was a bit of a thing where the big window that was the centerpiece of their promo gif wasn’t actually in the Kit, and now they have to add it in a patch because they were called out for false advertising.)

C) And look at this, over in my Subs, James Turner is reviewing the same thing, surprise. Or, rather, he’s reviewing the IDEA of it, because in the video, he made his own Industrial Loft without the Kit – it wasn’t out when he did the video. Mostly because, like Plumbella above, he noticed that a lot of the items in the Kit’s preview looked like stuff we already sort of had. So he picked a bunch of those items and put them together into a loft of his own design – he even did his best to recreate the pack’s official “cover” render. XD His conclusion is that he does not “get” Kits in their current form, and feel like they’re EA’s way of competing with custom content – and he thinks that a better way to do Kits would be to welcome IN the custom content creators and do collabs! Paid ones, of course. Might be nice in a perfect world, but I’m not sure how much I’d trust EA to be fair about it!

D) Getting away from the Sims drama, we went over to Call Me Kevin and – oh God, Cooking Simulator VR. XD Yes, the creators have seen fit to release their game on the VR platform, leading to Kevin and his disembodied hands tackling it! As usual, it was chaos. Kevin SORT OF got the first order (trout with various seasonings and lemon) right, via shoving it all onto a plate and then cooking it on the stovetop ON the plate – but after that. . . What do you think your reaction would be to ordering tomato soup and then getting a dish of sour cream? Or hearing a variety of explosions coming from the kitchen minutes later, as the chef stocks up on gas bottles and firecrackers? He did try to make decent tomato soup the second time, but ended up with a weird “tomatoes and an onion floating in broth” dish – and then he tried speedrunning it once he got the blender and ended up with brown liquid. Let’s not even talk about his attempt at salmon fillet. . .all wonderful stuff, even if the kitchen ended up thoroughly blown to pieces by the end. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Victor Luvs Alice is of course already sorted, so it was just a matter of popping my four ask replies into Valice Multiverse. Nothing too difficult!

Been a rather low-key night, honestly -- which is good, as I was a bit steamed at being left alone so often at work earlier. (Plus the commute wasn't great, but then, when is it ever?) And now I just have to make it to 1:30 tomorrow. . .and no cleaning this Saturday, yaaay. :p Night all!
