Monday The 13th
Sep. 13th, 2021 11:22 pmAnd as it's getting away from me rapidly, let's just hit the to-do list and head out, shall we?
Work – Started out the day with my e-mail not working, then had more people in my personal space than I would like throughout. Not a full-on Monday the Thirteenth, I suppose – most of the day was quiet, with me just working on duplicates and whatnot – but still. Bit annoying.
Beanbags – Nice day, so we did the usual three weekday rounds. 3-W-2 for me, 2-3-W for Dad, W-2-3 for Mom – very equal indeed! Just glad I won that middle one – it was close between me and Mom! (And then she fluffed TWO sets of throws in a row on the third, which is the only way I got second on that one! Sheesh!)
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – on the treadmill today, with Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Finished up Episode 26 with Miss Jon working her way up to the Courser and – well, Past!Jon couldn’t help but inquire about the “girl” he was supposedly after, meaning the Courser obliged him by explaining he was tracking down “Institute Property” and then started combat because whoops, you have ONE chance to use that recall code! Fortunately Past!Jon had dropped a save recently and promptly reloaded to take advantage of the code (remarking that this was definitely something to keep in mind for YOLO, and of course Finalley did). Miss Jon looted the corpses, then finally got around to letting Jenny out, who thanked her for the assist and made mention of maybe meeting up with her again in the Commonwealth, giving Past!Jon the mistaken impression she could be a companion (nope, but I know of a mod that lets you recruit her as a settler!). Miss Jon then took her shiny new courser chip over to Dr. Amari at the Memory Den, who admitted she wouldn’t have a hope in hell of decoding it, but directed her over to the Railroad, mentioning to “follow the Freedom Trail.”
So, in Episode 27, that’s exactly what Miss Jon did! Helped that she’d already found the start of it during previous adventures in the Boston Common, along with a Tour Bot to tell her how to follow it – basically, just follow the red brick road! Or stripe of red paint, as the case may be. Miss Jon wandered about, taking out a few enemies and exploring a few locations, like the Old Corner Bookstore, along the way (along with finding out that there was a MUCH easier path to Goodneighbor than the one she took), and half-accidentally stumbled on the Old North Church and thus Railroad headquarters! Past!Jon didn’t pick up every clue, but he did guess pretty easily the password was “Railroad,” and got Miss Jon (wearing her lovely tuxedo for speech check purposes) in! Deacon vouched for her to get her into headquarters, where she agreed to turn over the courser chip itself in exchange for a holotape of the decoded contents, which Tinker Tom provided gladly. Past!Jon wasn’t ENTIRELY sold on their mission (in particular, he found Glory claiming she was better than a normal human a bit grating, and wanted to give a more nuanced answer to the ‘would you risk your life to save a synth?’ question – which is appropriate, as there is an Institute mission to retrieve a synth that’s gone raider), but said the right things to properly join up because he wanted to know more about the faction. Left it off with Miss Jon going to meet Deacon for “Tradecraft” – time to invade a Slocum Joe’s headquarters!
2. Edit some more on "Londerland Bloodlines": Check! We’re almost at the end of Ocean House – Alice has climbed up to the level that sets itself on fire for you, poor girl, and made her way over the hole and through all the pipes venting steam, into the burned-out – hell, it’s not even a SHELL, it’s just – a few chunks of floor and some support beams at this point. But she’s in the Galesons’ room, and Dorothy is about to provide some much-needed help to traverse it. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – three in, three out –
A) Started with James Turner and a browse through his own subreddit! Just looking at memes and suchlike – referencing stuff like how he’s kind of known as “James Turner formerly known as The Sim Supply” in the Sims Community, or how the Bigwallet legacy, especially in recent LPs, is riddled with aliens. XD He also found a meme referencing an old hotel build that he promised a fourth episode of back in 2017 and never delivered, so he located the save it was in, then made his own meme saying he’d do the fourth episode if he got 25,000 members on the subreddit (currently they have a bit over 5K). We’ll see if that bears fruit – this hotel build is before I started watching him regularly, so it’ll be entirely NEW content for me!
B) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and Honey, I Joined A Cult – this is the second cult-themed video in three days. Kevin, are you feeling lonely over in Spain? Anyway, it’s one of those resource management games where you build up a certain thing and then have to run it so it operates efficiently – only instead of a prison or a school or whatnot, it’s a cult complex! Kevin of course made Jim Pickens the Dear Leader, who created a cult of personality around Money. Because if there is one thing Jim cares about, it’s raking in stacks of cash. He actually did pretty well for himself for a while – sure, his bathroom was nothing more than buckets and a bit of string, but he had a nice mediation room, a good place to give sermons, a lovely spirit table (complete with projected spirits), and even slot machines eventually! But unfortunately, Kevin decided to prioritize earning more money from meditation over actually fixing the bathroom or, eventually, the kitchen, and in a big old rush all his pawns either died from starvation or left in a huff. Which – honestly, is EXTREMELY true to the Jim Pickens cult experience, so good job, Kevin! XD Shame it didn’t work out, but you always have Sims 4.
C) And then we had GrayStillPlays and Detective Masters, a mobile game all about solving murder mysteries! Despite a lot of the dialogue being written by Google Translate, it’s actually fairly in-depth – there’s a two-stage clue-gathering process at the crime scene, then you interview someone and determine if they’re lying or telling the truth, then you interview the suspect and either arrest them, let them go, or – for the in-game gem currency – execute them. Like throwing Ronald Gump, a vile politician who murdered one prostitute and welched on paying her best friend, into a black hole. Or burning alive a woman who murdered her husband in the greenhouse for his fortune. There’s even a “hey, even detectives have a social life” series of games where you meet and woo a barista named Hannah – though Gray is suspicious of her, as she claimed to hate seafood during their first encounter, but ordered scallops in oyster sauce when they went out on a date. It was all quite delightful, especially with Gray commenting on how painful dealing with these suspects can be (for the suspects – rock hammer to the head, anyone?). Kinda hope we get a sequel vid!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Eh, half-check I’ll say – I got my Song Saturday for the week posted to the drafts (“Shivers,” natch), but I didn’t get the thing I was hoping to get drafted drafted – namely, this week’s Sims 4 posts (I have decided that I AM sharing my challenges). Have to just slot them into the queue tomorrow!
So yeah, didn't get as much done as I would have liked, feeling like the day kind of escaped me. *sigh* What can you do. Hopefully tomorrow's a bit better. Night all!
