Running Behind Again

And I again blame chats with tumblr friends (both of which involved watching a short video at some point), though I'm also adding in "going on an inadvertent archive binge of a webcomic." Let's the the thing up and get moving, shall we?
Work – Ugh, frustrating day – from getting checks back because a donor transposed two digits in the year on the date, to more credit card stuff needing to be taken care of, to angry donors canceling things because they couldn’t fully move a pledge over to another parish. . .I ended up leaving late because of that last one, which really annoyed me. *grumbles* Hopefully that isn’t a sign of things to come!
Beanbags – Not as rainy as yesterday, but definitely still gloomy and wet, so no. We’ll have to see how much it dries out tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another round on the bike to start the second Oxventure, “A Spot of Bother!” We’re picking up right after the first Oxventure (apparently called “The Spicy Rat Caper” XD), with Corazon, Merilwen, Prudence, and Dob carousing in a tavern when Corazon gets THE BLACK SPOT from an urchin and has a minor freakout. The gang eventually manage to get from him that he’s going to be attacked by pirates in about six hours (with him filling in that this is an every-two-years thing, and the pirates are his own former crew, cursed while searching for a legendary treasure while he got away, and now he’s got to find eight gold coins from the treasure to free them, as the adventure continued – yes, basically it’s a low-rent version of the first PotC movie), and rather than just stand and fight or flee, Dob convinces them that the best course of action would be to see if they can find the pirates and either trap or talk to them. And all of this catches the attention of one Egbert the Careless, golden dragonborn paladin looking for atonement for reasons he won’t specify. He offers his help, and Corazon lets him join up for the time being because, well, six-foot-dragon-man. (AKA, it’s MIKE! :D) The gang headed down to the docks to learn if the pirates were around, and Corazon BADLY overbribing the harbormaster with ten gold pieces got them the exact location of the crew (in a nearby tavern) and – after the man had sufficiently boozed up using most of the gold – a boathouse to use as a place to trap the pirates. (Prudence was all for frying them, of course, but Dob pointed out that that would bring in the law.) They’re currently heading into the mentioned tavern, The Boar’s Tooth, to check in on the pirates and lure them into their trap – Corazon has been thoughtfully disguised by Dob as a spider-tiger, though thanks to Dob’s already-infamous low rolls on his great stats, it’s not a GREAT disguise job. XD In the real world, though, the production values have gone up immensely – in the first episode, only Ellen dressed up, throwing on a cloak over her normal clothes. By episode two, EVERYBODY’S got costumes – and official character sprites, complete with a couple of different expressions for the animated interludes while they’re talking. :) It’s wonderful and I’m looking forward to seeing how they handle Corazon’s crew!
2. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check – Victor is past door “guardian” Abigail and has just given Alice her present – and Alice, seeing how eager he is to have it opened, has obliged and opened it to reveal her rabbit. :D Victor’s explained about Mr. Radcliffe, but Alice is still shocked that he actually went to the trouble of tracking it down – though he’s about to explain that he’s made his Season one of the best it’s ever been just by her presence, so. . . Hugs are on the way to help wrap up this chapter!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – two in the Subs, and a bonus video –
A) No James Turner today, so I instead got an early jump on the just-uploaded 666th episode of AT4W – “Marvel Super Special #1: KISS!” As in the band. Who apparently donated blood to mix with the red ink for this thing. Yeah, this thing is weird even BEFORE you get into the story, where the four members of the band end up with some sort of power cube from “Dizzy The Hun,” a Romani member of Victor Von Doom’s clan who stole it because he didn’t think Doom deserved the power, and it ends up transforming them into super-powered versions of the band personas. Gene can spit fire and use his boots as living snake-things to attack people, for a start. XD They proceed to have adventures like fighting off Doom’s Romani women robots, two of them teleporting randomly to Hell and having a short brawl with Mephisto (why Linkara chose it for the 666th episode), two of them randomly teleporting to a space disco with alien cats and getting involved in a brawl with some of them after Cat-man makes the moves on a girl, and then all of them going back to Latveria and having another brawl with Doom in some sort of pocket dimension before Dizzy gets him to stop and be content with banishing them for a while. It’s – decent, though to me it feels rushed. The story would have better suited a mini-series, with more time to flesh out each adventure. But Linkara had fun with it, and even if it was supposed to come out LAST week, it still feels like a good start to the Halloween season. XD
B) Then it was into the Subs for Call Me Kevin and L.A. Noire, where we played as the Cole Phelps who only doubts! Literally, Kevin picked “Doubt” for every interrogation scene, no matter how little it helped. The episode was basically a combination of “Cole Phelps is a total dick to everyone he has to talk to” and “Cole Phelps commits multiple cases of vehicular homicide while driving between various locations.” XD He DID technically solve two cases thanks to actually going around and collecting a tiny bit of evidence – such as a missing flag from a burgled car being in the apartment of a car thief and illegal street racer’s girlfriend, or bloody shoes being burned by the abusive husband of a murdered woman – but mostly he just either yelled at people (even a little girl!) or ran them over with his car. Or occasionally punched them. XD Hey, if YOU can think of a better way to relieve stress. . .
C) And then it was over to GrayStillPlays and High School First Day – as you might imagine, another one of THOSE mobile games. What do I mean by that? Why, that all the dialogue is courtesy of Google Translate, and you can BURN DOWN YOUR OWN HOUSE on the VERY FIRST OPTION (you’re upset about moving to a new city). The actual plot of the game, however, involves actually going tocollege high school, meeting up with a boy, throwing an impromptu party to appease the local bullies, discovering the boy with another girl at said party and karate-chopping him, toilet-papering his house with your new bestie, accepting a random ride from a dude who then gets lost in the woods, nearly dying to a bear looking for him, match-making the local nerdy genius to try and CLONE the dude, going back to the past and this time coming with him and saving him from AN EVIL CLOWN, going on a date with him and having to wash dishes after you scare him away with a freakout (he was presumptuous about your willingness to kiss him) before realizing you can’t pay the check on your own, saving a homeless man from a dog and getting a compass that leads to a treasure map in the graveyard, roping in a couple of other guys who have a boat to go to the island indicated by the treasure map, playing truth or dare, wandering off with your new love interest before getting CAPTURED BY CANNIBALS, buying your way out of the stew pot by offering to take them back to civilization to eat people THERE, then finding the treasure only for the evil clown to steal it before you head back to the mainland. ...like I said, one of THOSE mobile games. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – Newcrest Adventures is ready to go up tomorrow on Victor Luvs Alice, along with Thursday and Friday posts from my drafts! And there weren’t any threads or asks on Valice Multiverse, so I found some FO4 and VTMB-related stuff to reblog. All good!
Well, at least I'm keeping up on everything on my standard to-do list! Just gotta finish looking through my tracked tumblr tags and then it's off to bed. Night all!
