And it's been very pleasantly Fallout-y for me most of the day:

1. Write something related to my "Fallout of Darkness" verse: Check – I did some revision on my “Victor and Alice’s first meeting in this verse” snippet, updating the location to the Massachusetts State House (which is where I’ve decided Alice was hiding out) and generally just refining it. It’s a hell of a first impression she makes on Victor and Piper, coming out of a centuries-long staked torpor to drain the raider who pulled out the beam that impaled her dry. But fortunately they don’t shoot her right away – and good thing too, as the way I’m imagining the rest of this adventure, she’s going to be invaluable help with the rest of the raiders. . .and the Mirelurk Queen. . .

2. Watch the two OX lists in my Watch Later, keep up on YouTube Subs, watch something FO4-related: Check! Took me longer than anticipated, but Valice Multiverse is DEAD, and I wanted to watch my fun videos, so no regrets! :D

A) Started with a small thing I’ve watched before and reblogged onto my tumblr for today – 16 seconds of the best appearance of the Mysterious Stranger in Fallout 4. Somebody’s Sole was clearing out the painted ghouls in Kiddie Kingdom in Nuka-World, and got the Mysterious Stranger to show up – IN THE COLA CARS THAT CONSTANTLY RACE AROUND THE TRACK IN THERE. He literally popped up riding in a car to shoot down a painted ghoul. It’s great. XD

B) Then, this afternoon, while working on reinstalling Fallout 4 (see below), I watched Call Me Kevin play more BitLife! As Spanky Pimplebutt, famous porn star! YES, REALLY. He even got the name from a “porn star name generator.” XD It was actually a very successful life at first, though – after a few false starts trying to become a male stripper or an escort, he started a home lawnmowing business to get the money to go to the gym and work on his physique, and was finally able to break into the industry! He made best friends with one of his coworkers, started a reasonably successful romantic relationship, adopted a son named Willy Licker (YES) after buying a trailer, and wrote a couple of successful books and did a few very successful nude photoshoots!

And then he foolishly had a one-night stand with someone, and caught genital herpes that, no matter what, he couldn’t cure. Things started going downhill from there – he developed ulcers (treatable), and erectile dysfunction (not), then finally tried to have surgery on the old pee-pee and had it botched. He gave his son (successful with a large family, possibly because Spanky ignored him most of his life) a puppy calendar, then cut him out of his will when Willy proved ungrateful; wrote another book and did a couple more photoshoots before being forced to retire; changed girlfriends and ended up marrying the second one – and adding her name to his so he could be Spanky Handy-Pimplebutt; had TWO children with her – and was identified as the biological father of a third (turns out that one-night stand gave him more than herpes); used his vast amount of money to buy an old, decrepit tugboat he called “Suck on this, Willy” because he was still mad at his son; divorced his wife when she didn’t like the tugboat – and then, on a pleasure cruise, got struck by a speedboat and sank when he couldn’t hail the Coast Guard. XD How many people killed when their boat sank under them is this now? At least two. . .can’t say it wasn’t a fun-as-hell life, though. XD

C) Then, this evening, we had the OXtra and OXBox stuff:

I. On OXtra, we had “7 Fave Moments on Outside Xtra in Our First 5 Years! | Oxtra's 5th Birthday!” Yes, OXtra turned five on the 19th, and so the gang gathered up seven “presh mems” with their parent channel OXBox as a birthday celebration. :) From being exceedingly silly and incompetent bridge crew with OXBox in Star Trek VR, to Ellen’s terrifying Egg Room in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, to Luke insisting he is a “normal adult man” in response to Andy walking in on him explaining his “Yoshette” design to Ellen (to be fair, she made him draw it), there have been a lot of fun times on this channel. :) Though I think my favorite were the clips from the Disneyland Vlog – everyone was clearly having a load of fun at the park, and it’s just – nice to see everybody so happy. :)

II. Then, on OXBox, we had the more traditional list of “7 Hardest Optional Bosses for Elite Players Only!” These are some of the toughest bosses that you don’t actually HAVE to fight – and really shouldn’t unless you like getting your ass kicked, or are very confident in your abilities. From Sigurn, Queen of the Valkyries in God of War (2018), who has all of her underling’s powers souped up to eleven, to Rodin from Bayonetta and its sequel, who uses his halos to become either a super-powerful angel or super-super-powerful demon, to the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3, who has a wyvern to start and gets a two-stage boss fight meaning you have to fight him TWICE – the second time with electric powers – these bosses are going to wipe the floor with you. This scrub is going to hide under her “normal” difficulty blanket, if nobody minds.

D) Then it was quickly over to GrayStillPlays and his own optional boss of a GTA V “Everything Parkour” challenge! Basically, someone created a course full of target platforms, arrows, and pain, then stuffed it full of pretty much every different vehicle they could find to give you a variety of horrible ways to complete the various parkour challenges. Like riding a bike over a bunch of not-quite-in-line arrows, or trying to get a LIMO through a tube-based wall ride, or piloting a jet pack to space before being forced to skydive through the Rings of Forever Regret. Though, naturally, the very hardest challenge was at the end, with Gray having to force an amphibious tank up a tire to get to the end checkpoint. He did it, of course, but I don’t think whatever sanity he had left survived the attempt. XD Oh Gray, you put yourself through so much pain for us. . .

E) And then, to wrap up “Bombs Drop” day, our dear friend Jon at Many A True Nerd released a Fallout 4 video! This one about the movement mechanics (which he apparently did a deep dive into over the past week), and his attempt to build the fastest Sole Survivor in the Commonwealth! It was a pretty fascinating video about the different movement speeds in the game and how they can be manipulated (via special legendary items with the “Sprinter’s” effect – which is only supposed to spawn on leg pieces, but there’s one arm piece in the Nucleus in Far Harbor, and two hats (Captain’s in Far Harbor, Oswald’s Top Hat in Nuka-World) that you can get with the effect; via using a Nimble weapon to improve your speed while aiming and crouching; via getting this one special Wasteland Survival Guide to boost your swimming speed; and via Overdrive mods on your legs, an Emergency Protocol mod on your chest (and then irradiating yourself enough so that the mod’s effects kick in to protect your low health) and no helmet in power armor so you can stack one of the hats for 165% greater movement speed – oh, and if you boost your Endurance enough through various magazines, Bobbleheads, perks, and drugs, sprinting is free AP-wise) – and it ended with Jon’s test character racing the Prydwen back to Boston Airport when it spawns. A race which Sprinter Jon won easily thanks to the souped-up power armor and a quick swim, finding not only the BOS encampment already set up, but what happens when the Prydwen arrives – basically, there’s a “travel” Prydwen which is just an empty model, and a “real” Prydwen that has an actual interior. If you get to Boston Airport before the “travel” Prydwen arrives, you’ll see the “real” one spawn in, and hilariously, the “travel” one have to TURN roughly 90 degres to merge with it. Jon found it hilarious. XD And best yet, this is not a replacement for YOLO – that comes on time tomorrow! Though apparently it’s going to be a tense episode, as Jon admitted to making a mistake. . .ooooh. I’m already on tenterhooks!

3. See about getting Fallout 4 up and running again -- even if I do a "minimal mod" opening: Check, though it was a bit of a process. I rewatched the video on clean installs in preparation, then went to fire up Steam –

And then remembered “oh, yeah – I’ve got this stupid bug where the main Steam window just doesn’t show up, even though Steam is clearly running.” It hasn’t been a problem before now, because I can still select what game I want to play from the little icon in the taskbar, but I had to uninstall the game from Steam, sooo. . .

Fortunately, I found a workaround – “Big Picture” mode still works, and that actually has a windowed variant. So I just opened it in that and found I could still manage my games, including uninstalling them. So that’s what I did – cleared out all the folders, uninstalled, reinstalled. Went smoothly, so I proceeded toward giving the game its initial “settings” run, opening up Vortex, reinstalling FO4 Script Extender and that one mod that enables achievements with mods, running the game and checking to make sure that was all correctly installed, installing the latest version of the Unofficial FO4 Patch and making sure everything else was disabled – then, I took a deep breath, bit the bullet, and actually started the game. Redid Victor for – I believe this is the fourth time? Well, he came out as good as he’s gonna get in this character creator – and played through the opening sequence, aka the part that actually falls on October 23rd. XD Got pretty much all of the prompts, filled out Victor’s SPECIAL the way I like it, and got him into Vault 111 to be traumatized. Left it off with a save right after opening up Nora’s pod and promising her frozen corpse Victor will find Shaun. We’ll see how it goes from there, but – for now, I got the bit that I wanted to get done, done.

Additionally:

-->Tried on my 111 Vault Suit costume this morning before getting properly dressed – both in honor of “Bombs Drop Day” and to make sure it did fit properly. It did! :) Paired with my Pip-Boy and an appropriate mask, I think we’ll be just fine for Halloween. :) (And as for my actual wardrobe, I of course wore one of my FO4 shirts – the “SPECIAL: Intelligence” one.)

-->Also listened to my full “Fallout of Darkness” Spotify playlist while changing the sheets on my bed and getting dressed – some good music on there! Ought to see if I can assign more songs to it. . .

-->We did indeed play beanbags today – right after lunch, as it just got colder and colder as the day went on. And while Dad was the definite champ with 2-W-W-3-W, I got the first game with a surprise ten – W-3-3-2-2 – and Mom pulled out a win in the fourth, with 3-2-2-W-3. So we all won once, and that makes me happy. :)

-->Did a full backup of my system, as prompted by reinstalling Fallout 4 – I was definitely due, so that was a good thing!

So yeah, not too bad a Saturday! Yeah, reinstalling and restarting FO4 again was a bit stressful, but like I said above -- I got through the part most relevant to this day, so that's the important thing. And I had a lot of fun with the rest of it. :)

Now, of course, I'm doing chatting and whatnot, so it's time to head out again, but let's set up the Sunday to-dos:

1. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again"

2. Watch the three Sims-related videos in my Watch Later, keep up on YouTube Subs, and watch Jon's FO4 YOLO video

3. Play either Sims 4 (more building) or Bloodlines (Chinatown)

4. Get in a workout

5. Work on tumblr queues (specifically, the Spookfest Chill Save update)

I think this should all be doable -- we'll see, of course! But hopefully it'll be a nice Sunday no matter what. I like having nice weekends and I want them to continue. *nods* Night all!
