crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
I blame waking up at 5:40 briefly this morning. . .let's pop up the to-do list and head to bed, shall we?

Work – More credit card bullshit – did you expect anything else? Largely quiet otherwise, though, which is good, because I’m just – *sigh* I dunno. The whole thing with the credit card company is just kinda wearing me down.

Beanbags – Welp, it never actually got nice out! Didn’t RAIN, but it looked like it was gonna most of the day, and it definitely never warmed up any. So yeah. Did pay my car insurance bill, though, so that’s something.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another half-hour on the bike, and with L.A. By Night, “Fear No Monsters!” Having arrived at Victor’s club (and listened to X tell them all about the cougar (literal) in Santa Monica along the way), the gang made their entrance for the album party (hip-hop singer Chocolate Drop), then split up. Annabelle, hilariously, ran into Wan, the kid from the library who told Nelli and Victor where to find her, which, obviously, she was pretty annoyed about. She did agree to meet him and their other friends later, and it was hinted that Wan might believe she’s in trouble for some arson. . . X then pulled her away to find a quiet place to talk, which – he chose UNDER the DJ booth. Where he proceeded to have a premonition about a wolf that is chewing on, but cannot break, a crown. I – am starting to understand why most people find Malkavians annoying. Nelli G went upstairs to spend some time with her boy-toy Brad and a couple of girls she found attractive in a private booth, doing things like “waterfall kisses” with champagne so she didn’t have to pretend to drink it. And Victor, after checking in with Chocolate Drop and making a big spectacle of himself both upstairs and down, has just Mesmerized a reporter into bringing him all the notes he has on Victor’s supposedly-stolen SUV, as he’s hoping the guy might also have some leads on this “Bobby” who tried to have him shot the other night. We’ll see how it pans out!

2. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check! Finished off Chapter 5 today with not-quite-a-page, with Victor and Alice vowing to figure out the reason behind why Victor can suddenly visit Wonderland and if it means they can visit the Land of the Dead – but for now, they’re just going to enjoy the fact that Victor is there in Wonderland, and Alice can actually give him the tour. :) Next chapter is back to Victor’s POV in Burtonsville as he decides to try just willing himself Downstairs, in case he can do it. . . (spoiler alert: the answer is yes, but it takes a HELL out of a lot out of him. Good thing Elder Gutknecht has a spare chair for surprise visitors!)

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – another two-in, two-out day, plus one small bonus video –

A) First up, the latest Wyrd Sisters Podcast episode, about A Hat Full Of Sky! Normally I have to save these for a weekend as they tend to be on the longer side (and this one was indeed 51 minutes long), but with no James OR Gray today, I figured I had the time to listen. As usual, a good recap of the story, and exploration of its ideas and commentary on what works and what doesn’t so much. General consensus seems to be that it’s a good book, with the hiver and its ultimate release into Death’s domain obviously inspired by Terry’s semi-recent diagnosis of Alzheimer's and his views on assisted suicide, and Tiffany having to spend the latter half of the book apologizing and taking responsibility for what the hiver did while in control being a better moral lesson than the average kids’ show where the kid only learns their lesson at the very end. However, Manning in particular said she felt it was a bit unfocused (namely, the Feegle stuff feels a bit tacked-on, especially the animosity between Jeannie and Tiffany – their bits were FUNNY, but ultimately not THAT necessary). I think that’s actually going to be a recurring problem in later books, especially the last ones – Terry was a good writer, but I do recall subplots getting lost sometimes. On the other hand, next month is probably my favorite book in the whole series, Going Postal, so I’m hyped for that. :)

B) And second up, Call Me Kevin playing The Movies to create a movie about the famous car accident that sent him on the path to becoming a YouTuber! It had a fifteen year production in-game, went nearly a million over-budget, drove both its actor and director to drink, and released to reviews saying it was consistently average the whole way through. Which is bold to say of a movie that stars Cowboy Kevin being hilariously good, getting mowed down by a bad guy in a car just because the bad guy liked being cartoonishly evil, coming back from the dead to avenge himself as Kevin wrote himself into a corner, having to escape jail after the town revealed itself as secretly evil as a whole and imprisoned him, taking a quick trip to space to learn some sweet space combat, defeating Bad Guy in kung-fu combat, convincing the Bad Guy’s Nazi army to give up (with Kevin cracking up over his own attempts to do a ridiculous German accent), before finally going back in time to yeet Baby Hitler. How is this not five-star cinema, I ask you. XD

C) And out of pure curiosity, watched the teaser for the Season 5 Finale (and whole-ass finale) of L.A. By Night. Obviously not really sure what to make of it myself (as I’m only three episodes into the first season and – still not really feeling it like I felt Oxventure), but the comments seemed emotional, so I hope those who have been following it for longer than I have enjoy it!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check, in a minor way – no asks or threads on Valice Multiverse again, so I just reblogged my post about the start of “Londerland Bloodlines.” *shrug* It’s one of my more popular verses over there, soooo. . .

Not too shabby, right? Well, okay, I did the minimum for the last one, but it is late, and I am tired and cold. It is time to retreat to my bed under my big purple blanket. *nods* Night all!
