Not as bad as last night -- no 40 MPH gusts or anything like that -- but it was still cold with an extra dash of wind chill. >( I mean, it's still decent enough for DECEMBER, I suppose, but. . .meeh. I am not a "cold" person. *huddles in her big purple blanket*

Anyway, other than the wind, it wasn't too bad today --

Work – Fortunately, a pretty quiet day – I spent most of it doing the GL and obituaries and trying to ignore the constant yak-yak by my desk. *sigh* And we have a meeting on Monday to discuss training for the new credit card stuff, so – we’ll see how that goes!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another thirty on the bike, and another chunk of the Oxventure “A Fishmas Carol!” Egbert chased the ninja turtle hallucination down an alley, tackled it, and ended up exploding a barrel of piss all over himself. XD The others had a somewhat more productive time of it – Merilwen was able to hear someone climbing up the side of the building, and judicious use of Corazon’s beard-trimming mirror revealed that the streets were being invaded by fish-people! Yes, D&D has this. Corazon, Dob, and Merilwen were all for trying to spring the trap anyway – but then Prudence, having noticed the fish-people crawling around, just hailed them and opened up communications. Turns out they don’t worship Cthulhu, but a different eldritch God, and they’re kidnapping people as “vengeance” for a wrong done to them. As Prudence pressed them for more information, Corazon spotted two other fish-people at the house on the other side of the street kidnapping someone – Dob smashed a roll to send them to sleep and played them a lovely little Christmas carol of his own devising. And then he and Merilwen sprung out the window to free their kidnapee, with Dob not only avoiding his iron trap, but getting it to fall on one of the fish-people outside. XD

While THAT was going on, the fish-people had summoned their boss, a “chul” (giant crab creature) for Prudence to speak to. He explained that the kidnappings were “compensation” – an artifact was stolen from their underwater temple ages ago, and after trying to talk to the townspeople to ask for it back, they’ve decided that kidnapping people and refusing to say if they’re murdering them in sacrifice or not is adequate compensation. Prudence offered to get the artifact for them and asked to confer with her team – Corazon called Dob and Merilwen back as they freed the very confused and frightened woman the two other fish-people had stuffed in their sack, and everyone convened in the trap room, where Prudence explained the situation – and said that her plan was to get the artifact, then keep it for themselves and turn on the chul and his buddies. Corazon, however, cautioned that maybe the artifact might be shit, and turning it over to stop the kidnappings might net them a better reward from the town, so the “betray the chul” plan is currently on-hold until they find out what the artifact is. So currently they’re all back down on street level (Dob having cleaned Egbert of piss, after trying unsuccessfully to get him to agree to allow himself to be flavored), with Prudence and the chul talking and Dob making snarky comments based on the chul’s body language because Luke didn’t realize they were supposed to be speaking Infernal, which Dob wouldn’t understand. XD Poor Luke’s actually forgotten a few things that happened during this adventure already (sending the fish-people to sleep, where Alfred Strangertide is, etc) – Luke, buddy, might be time to start making notes!

2. Continue drafting gift fics: Check – another tumblr friend’s fic in the drafting bag. I did something related to our current Friday Night Writing thing, where his character is in a relationship with Nines, and we’ve done some wedding stuff in our usual back-and-forth – so I had Alice ask her about the proposal, which did not go off the way he’d planned. XD Hopefully he’ll find it amusing and/or cute!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check, though it took a while – I don’t know WHAT happened, but my internet speed dropped to “abysmal” for a good chunk of the evening, meaning I had to wait for my videos to load sufficiently before watching them, and then pause every so often so they could load some more. *grumbles* But I still cleared out the three waiting for me today in the Subs –

A) Started with the latest Fun With Shorts – “Propaganda Techniques!” A little film all about propaganda and how to spot it, with the framing device of a kid questioning the techniques used to help a local mayor win reelection. Feels fuckin’ topical, doesn’t it? XD But it was reasonably educational, and much more entertaining with Josh’s quips. XD

B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin for Minecraft “One Chunk Challenge” REDUX! Namely, he’s in HARDCORE mode now, and he’s using what looks like a custom chunk that has an End Portal already in the basement! It’s on an island and everything! So far, things are going – wellish? He’s got plenty of trees on his little chunk, with plenty of saplings to replant and the occasional falling apple to eat; a bunch of chickens in the Chicken Pit, complete with a hopper beneath them to catch their eggs so he can rapidly make more; and he’s even set up a miniature farm by the ocean, just near enough that he can harvest the wheat without leaving his chunk! On the other hand – LOT of enemies in and around this chunk. Poor guy has been nearly taken out by zombies, skeletons, spiders, Drowned (water zombies), and surprise Creepers (the worst ones of all – one blew up practically right next to him, and basically shaped how he was mining out the chunk in the process). And he’s already got phantoms because he has no bed to sleep in. . .on the plus side, he HAS managed to build himself a nice little house – with glass windows, no less, because he has lots of sand to work with! :D Also he discovered that sand and gunpowder (from a Creeper he managed to slay) equals TNT. Expect explosions soon. XD He’s said this series will probably be shorter than the original Chunk Challenge, but I’m just happy to see him do his survival thing in limited space again. You wouldn’t think it would be that entertaining, buuuut. . .

C) And then we had GrayStillPlays and Happy Story Love (or possibly Draw Happy Story, he doesn’t know anymore) – another one of those “draw the thing that’s missing” mobile games. Only this one is REALLY FLEXIBLE about the sort of shit it’ll accept as an answer. Gray started off by drawing a crude shotgun bouquet for this guy and his girlfriend, and things just progressed from there! You’d be surprised at how many of these puzzles (putting the top on the car to keep out the rain; filling up a cone with ice cream; feeding the dog) could be solved by Gray drawing some form of dead body! XD Not to mention the bomb that became a bib when the two had kids. . .or the weird shape that I THINK was supposed to be a gun that became a pregnant belly despite the fact Gray was drawing it in the father’s hand. XD It was a pretty damn weird day in the lives of this couple, that’s all I’m saying. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – four ask replies over on Valice Multiverse – nothing too difficult, fortunately!

So that's all good -- except for the internet speed thing, but that seems to have improved at least somewhat, and I've moved onto using YouTube for background music while I work on other stuff now, soo. . . Anyway, got Friday Night Writing Thing coming up, so let's get the to-do list for tomorrow sorted:

1. Either draft out another gift fic or have a Free Writing Day

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, including Wyrd Sisters Podcast, and the stuff in the Watch Later

3. Play Bloodlines and prep to save a professor from the Society of Leopold

4. Work on tumblr queues

Yeah, I know usually Saturdays are Sims days, but given I want to start putting in more mods now that we're past the latest patch, I think giving it an extra few days for more updates seems like a good plan. Especially since I have a Wednesday off next week. :) We'll see how it all goes! Night all!
