Had some busy moments, but an uninterrupted lunch break, which always helps. Along with cookies. :p But yeah, observe:
Work – All right – to my shock, some stuff I’ve been waiting on the credit card people to fix for ages now ACTUALLY GOT FIXED. Not everything, but a few key things have been fixed. Also did a couple of batches, some write-offs, all that fun stuff. Busy day, though not horrible. *shrug* I’ll take it!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: No check – having finished an Oxventure, and this being the heaviest day of my period, I figured today would be a good day to take off and relax for a bit. Get back in the saddle tomorrow when I don’t have so much blood coming out of me!
2. Keep editing gift fics: Check! Officially done with the second pass on DarkCountess’s fic, which – as said a couple of days ago – is a sequel to last year’s, with Secundus!Victor and Alice talking to her versions of fem!Leo and Klaus from Blood Battle Blockade about Klaus’s blood techniques and some of their adventures in their respective cities. Threw in a reference to something that happened in her latest BBB fic (which is a crossover with the witches miniseries of American Horror Story), and the “giant gingerbread man” incident from my own “A Week Of Secundus Christmas.” XD I think she’ll enjoy it!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions and the OXBox Xmas Challenge: Check – a very quiet day in the Subs, with no James or Gray, but I had plenty in the Watch Later to pick up the slack –
A) Started with Day 4 of the OXBox Xmas Challenge, with my boy Mike and the GTA San Andreas Xmas Surprise Challenge! The mission – steal a VTOL (vertical take-off/landing) jet and land it on top of Carl’s house in Grove Street! Andy thoughtfully placed one in the Naval Base on basically the other side of the map – going in there gives one a five-star wanted rating immediately, so that’s fun! Even more fun – they’re using The Definitive Edition. XD Yeah, no surprise Mike got three attempts, huh?
And he needed all three – the first attempt, he got his wanted stars for just putting his arm through the fence, so he was forced to run for the VTOL while being shot at – and while he made it to the jet, he didn’t have it for long before he was hit by many missiles and ended up exploding. The second attempt, he managed to successfully steal a car and vroom up to the jet – only to be almost immediately hit with a missile, causing him to crash-land in the ocean right next to him. Where they had to watch his jet slowly sink downward and balance on its nose before exploding. XD Best part was, half the NPCs were following him INTO the water because this game, seriously. The third attempt was his closest – another car theft to get him to the jet as quickly as possible, and then he managed to take off quickly enough to avoid most pursuit for a while. He actually got within sniffing distance of Grove Street – and then the enemy jets suddenly reappeared (possibly spawning in after he went as high as he could to try and look for them) and took him down with extreme prejudice, poor bastard. So no Christmas point for Mike, boo. :( We’ll just have to see how Andy does on his second challenge tomorrow!
B) Then it was time for some Plumbella goodness, to catch up with her:
I. “paralives gave me early access and i think they're flirting with me” – pretty much exactly what it says on the tin – while she was on vacation to see family, the Paralives team allowed her early access to some of their ParaCreator footage! Basically its their version of CAS, showing off how versatile it is and the kinds of ParaFolk you can create. There was a lot of fancy slider work and showing off how you can give Sims two different-colored eyes, or move around and adjust tattoos, or even do a variety of realistic and unrealistic skintones. The UI is perhaps a touch cluttered in spots, but other than that, it was all pretty cool, and Plumbella was quite impressed! I’m hopeful that this game will end up being good – so far, all the signs seem to point to it being a decent thing to play! Though it’s worth noting we haven’t seen much in the way of gameplay yet. . .I’d really love to see more of the ParaFolk doing stuff! Especially since our “hero family” – the bereaved Sebastian and his kid Eli – seem to be all sorted out now. . .
II. “the sims team needs some ideas...desperately” – Plumbella breaks out the PowerPoint once again to talk about Kits that she would actually BUY. This includes a Harry Potter-themed Kit (I personally would prefer a Realm of Magic refresh); a cooking Kit with stuff like air fryers and a small cupcake machine (now that could be nice); two kid-themed Kits with both new themed room styles for Build/Buy and more gameplay objects (though she and I both agree that a bigger pack, like a Game pack, would do it better), and perhaps Dark Academia or the return of early 2000s style for CAS kits (part of me is like “eh,” part of me is like “would help me recreate Londerland Bloodlines Alice better in-game"). Basically she just wants EA to try harder with the kits, and give us more gameplay-focused ones – so far all we’ve got on that front is Bust the Dust, which is still rather broken. Ugh. . .personally, I’m sticking with my guns and never buying a Kit, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for her!
C) And finally it was off to the Subs for the sole video there today – Call Me Kevin and Fallout 3, playing as Peter Pain the baby! Yes, seriously – there’s a special glitch you can do in the very beginning of FO3 where, if you put your ball in the right spot, then just zip out the door when your dad opens your nursery, you can get out into Vault 101 proper, escape, and basically go around the wasteland as a baby. (Well, TECHNICALLY you’re a tiny adult who moves slowly, but you actually have a dedicated button to go “gaga,” so yes, Baby.) Peter promptly made his way to Megaton, to meet the locals and take on a few jobs! Like promising to disarm the bomb in the middle of town (for 500 caps) for the sheriff, then heading to the saloon and promising to blow up the bomb (for 1,000 caps) for Mr. Burke. Unfortunately, Peter couldn’t do either without leveling up some more, so it was off to Rivet City to pick up some sidequests – killing a lady along the way for her gun. One musical montage later, Peter was in Rivet City, causing chaos. Like tormenting a (admittedly nasty) mother and her son, and getting the latter to run away. Or helping a suicidal man jump to his death. Or helping Angela in the store get ant pheromones to force her crush Diego (here played by her own imagination) to fall madly in love with her and marry her – which even Peter found disturbing. (Though not the game – you GAIN Karma for that action!). However, it all helped him get the Explosives skill he needed to go back to Megaton, arm the bomb, and explode it from the safety of Tenpenny Tower, earning himself 1,000 caps and a lovely suite. All before he could learn to walk or talk properly. XD I’ve heard about this glitch before, but it’s a heck of a lot of fun to actually see it in action. I kinda hope Kevin does a couple more episodes of this. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Four ask replies and a thread reply over on Valice Multiverse, nice.
Not bad, not bad. And it feels SO good to be done with the gift fics! :D Especially since this means I DEFINITELY have enough time to get Chapter 3 of "Santa Monica's Vale of Tears" up too. . .but that's something to worry about tomorrow. For now, I gotta hit the sheets. Night all!
