crossover_chick | A Lazy 35th Birthday

Spent a good chunk of my afternoon just rereading FreeFall the webcomic after getting directed there by TV Tropes. Which honestly sums up a lot of my days off in general right now. . . But I did get some nice presents, and I did get some stuff checked off my unofficial to-dos --

Presents:

-->A new desk chair to go with my new Christmas desk from Mom and Dad (it's nice and cushy!)

-->A Corpse Bride 2022 Calendar from my Auntie Anne (it looks to be fanmade as I found one fan-art page instead of a screenshot one, but it's still nice)

-->A "Drink Me" bottle and key necklace from my Auntie Anne (it's cool! Got blue sparkly liquid inside)

-->This awesome Valice fanart from my friend Newt on tumblr :D (plus an album recommendation -- have to check out "Ruin" by The Amazing Devil this week, methinks!)

Small haul, but good haul. :D

Unofficial To-Dos:

1. Purchase and play Unpacking: Check! This was my present to myself this year – and thanks to still having leftover money in my Steam Wallet, only cost me five bucks! I’ve seen this played by Jon of MATN (the correct way) and the OXBox team (the Christmas Challenge way), and I wanted to give it a swing myself. It’s a game all about unpacking rooms and learning about a life – from what I’ve seen in the levels played by Jon and OXBox, and the ones I just got through myself, that of a young bisexual woman who is an artist and gamer (both video game AND tabletop), and who has at least one relationship that goes rather sour. I’m up to “living with her first partner in their first apartment together,” and I’m looking forward to seeing the other levels! Apparently there’s eight in all. . .

2. Watch Call Me Kevin’s 2021 Rewind video: Check in progress – I started late this evening, and since it’s a long video and I’ve been doing a few other things as well, I’m still watching it. I should be done before bedtime, at least! And it’ll be good to have it out of my Subs. :)

I also watched –

A) A quick clip from Home Alone 2 featuring the rush to get to the airport after the McAllisters oversleep YET AGAIN, and Kevin being the first one in the van XD

B) A bunch of videos on Alton Towers’ “The Smiler” coaster, which I first found out about last night (there’s a new show where three comedians get overnight access to some sort of tourist destination, and the first one on the list was Alton Towers – we looked up video of some of the rides there afterward) – it’s a coaster with like 14 different inversions and loops, and the “story” is that it’s set up by this strange “Ministry of Joy” to brainwash people into being smiley and happy all the time. Yes, it is a horror-themed coaster, how can you tell? XD Though, uh, it is also that in a different way – horrific accident back in 2015, I’m sad to say. Seems to be running fine now, but I doubt I’m ever gonna have a chance to experience it in person.

3. See about doing some damn writing: Partial check – did the writing on my and Squid’s thing, of course, but ALSO did a TINY bit of writing on some of my, ah, personal stories. ;P Just a new prompt idea and a few sentences, but it’s SOMETHING. Easing myself back into the saddle!

So yeah -- that, plus lasagna soup, The Big Fat Quiz of The Year, pizza, and chocolate cake with chocolate Swiss meringue frosting was basically my birthday. :) Can't really complain! Maybe next year we'll be able to go out to an arcade again, but for now, I'm happy with this. :) For now, I gotta wrap this up so I can get back to the Rewind video -- let's set up a couple of to-dos for tomorrow:

1. Continue whatever writing I can get out of my damn head

2. Catch up on YouTube Subs

3. Play Bloodlines and finish off the Kuei-Jin and Ming Xiao

4. Get in a workout

5. Work on tumblr queues

Let's hope I can get some productivity going on again in these last days of 2021! Night all!
