crossover_chick: Alice (Wonderland) looking kind of confused (AMA: WTFery?)

Seriously, it's been a complete roller coaster this month with the temperature -- it keeps going up, then crashing back down. Hell, just TODAY we started in the 60s, and ended in the 30s! I do not know what to make of this at all. @.@ February used to be the snowstorm month, and now look at it.

Well, no matter what temperature it is, it is now Friday, and I have made it through without losing my mind. Here's the round-up:

Work – Reasonably quiet, and one (1) other item from the credit card fuckery list has been supposedly resolved – but I stumbled across one of the numerous constant old problems before leaving, and that just made me mad. But it was an uncomplicated day, with just a couple of credit card calls and some roster maintenance, so I’ll take that.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and back with the OxSong Livestream (as I shall now be calling it)! More thanking people for their donations (and yes, shortly after I rejoined them, they smashed the $10K goal, yay – as of when I left off, they were almost up to $15K), a quick look at the first behind-the-scenes video (showing poor Ellen being driven to the shoot at ass o’clock in the morning, and Luke trying to set up a drum set in such a way that it wouldn’t be obvious Mike wasn’t actually playing the drums), and answering some questions, such as “inspirations for your characters” (for example, Ellen admitted Merilwen is basically her Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning PC, while Mike said he just wanted to play a flawed character for the amusement factor – also he was originally supposed to be more like a Skyrim dragonborn, but then he and Johnny saw what Dragonborn in DnD actually looked like and were like “oh yeah, go with that”) and “would you play any other tabletop RPGs with this group” (featuring a mention of Blades in the Dark, the heist game that works in flashback, which everyone seemed to like quite a lot – yes, guess what their SECOND regular TTRPG becomes XD). Just good chill fun with everyone very happy that the goal got smashed so early!

2. Edit Chapter 4 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – Alice has found Lily’s car and her diary, and learned that everything right now is converging on the blood bank! So she’s gone and broken in to investigate. She’s just found Virgil Crumb and his key card to “Foxy Boxes” through the hole into the morgue – now she’s looking into the freezer. And the Queen of Hearts has just commented that one of the rooms feels unusually warm. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – three in, three out, AND I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO TURN OFF THAT ANNOYING “HOVER TO PLAY” THING. Loathed that SO much – turns out it’s a setting you can toggle, yay. So now I’m back to having it just play a sort of moving thumbnail and having the “watch later” button right at the top, yay! :D Er, so, yeah, anyway –

A) First up, the latest Fun With Shorts – “If the Shoe Fits,” Part 1! It’s a documentary about how they made shoes back in the 40s and 50s, with the usual “oh, America has the greatest shoes in the world” nonsense and a lot of talk about precision and craftsmanship and how the best shoe leather is calf hide. Josh was not shy on riffing on all the machines being operated with minimal safety equipment, or how the women doing the majority of the work were almost certainly being paid horribly. XD Good stuff!

B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin with Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta – starring Faris, aka Not Nathan Drake in Not-Uncharted! Yes, this is a non-mobile knockoff for a change, which I swear I’ve seen semi-recently in an OXBox video about same. . .anyway, Kevin played through the first few levels, of Faris storming an office building and shooting all the guards, then flashing back to him raiding an ancient temple with the help of his older sister on radio support. Well, when he wasn’t falling through the world and soft-locking the game so the temple doors wouldn’t open, because this game is jank as hell. XD Seriously, so many bugs, so little time – he dies from a surprisingly short fall height; he refuses to balance himself on ledges when you press the buttons; he scooches along walls like he’s doing a sideways moonwalk; he will die if you run into a boulder rather than it running into you – that is, you’ve already deactivated the trap and the boulder is STATIONARY; and in a certain section where you have to use an RC car to activate pressure pads, if Faris himself falls into the lower levels, the game just reloads you at the nearest checkpoint. XD Also he shoots behind himself without looking, and his hands move more than his face. And he’ll kill nameless goons without a thought but spare the big bad for no good reason. XD Kevin laughed his way through the levels and left Faris in Morocco chilling with a very badly rendered NPC child. Here’s hoping he does more, because hot damn do I wanna see it. XD

C) And then we had GrayStillPlays with more GTA V parkour! Today’s topic – a killer octopus-themed roller coaster board! Complete with a couple of coaster cars to drive along the loop-de-loops. And there were a LOT of loop-de-loops – this board was largely “wall ride loop-de-loop hell with some short tube sections, followed by a brief trip in a Sprunk smart car going over giant hills while avoiding killer water spouts and wind turbines, and then back into wall ride hell only ten times worse as the ribbon is even narrower.” Gray had to spend a lot of time in first person just to see where the hell he was going and get his turns JUUUST right. And yes, checkpoints WERE rather hard to come by, why do you ask? XD I mean, it was an amazing board – there was even a bit where the ribbon suddenly changed colors, like an octopus can – but oh man, it looked painful to play. Or even to be a bystander, as a wind turbine took out a plane as Gray watched from atop a hill. XD Just another day in Florida Man’s fucked-up life!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just one ask reply over on Valice Multiverse. Simple as pie!

Not too shabby -- though I'm currently only on page 17 of 46 in Chapter 4 up there. Need to do some long editing sessions this weekend to make sure I make it for next Thursday! In the meantime, though, here's the Saturday to-do list:

1. Edit Chapter 4 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and watch at least Plumbella’s videos in the Watch Later

3. Either play Sims 4 and work on making a better Chill Save with better community lots, or play Unpacking and get through the final level

4. Work on tumblr drafts and the next shipping meme

Yeah, giving myself a choice there when it comes to gaming, as I dunno which way I'm gonna lean. . .I DO know I want to download some nicer lots from the Gallery to spice up the Chill Save, though! Smiler's out and about a lot, and I want them to have nice places to visit. Especially if they're having out-of-house parties. . . Anyway, that should all be enough for tomorrow, especially since I don't have any cleaning to get in the way. Or any phone bullshit. Aaaahhh. . .night all!
