crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

Warmed up a little more today -- we actually may have hit 40? Not sure -- but it was still colder than it should be. But we're warming up some more for the end of the week, which is good. As for the rest of my Tuesday:

Work – Busier day than yesterday, though not overwhelmingly so – more people calling in with credit card stuff, more spreadsheets to look at, yadda yadda yadda. I worked my way through it while my coworker put on gifts. Major annoyances were people calling a) just as I was planning on going on lunch and b) just as I was getting ready to finish up printing batches to leave. *shrug* Again, I’ve had worse days at work.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: No check today, because the damn shower is leaking again, and the way to get it to STOP leaking involves needing to stop the water and replace the entire dial thing used to set the water temperature. So my only option to get cleaned up was a wipe-down with Mom helping me wash my hair over the sink, which – getting extra-sweaty on the bike or the treadmill didn’t seem like a good idea. We’ll have to see what’s going on with “Faire Trial” and the horses Merilwen is fussing over tomorrow (hopefully).

2. Continue editing Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – even got an early start on it tonight, what with the lack of workout. Alice has safely made it back to Tung, and gotten an update on who Beckett is, what she can probably expect when she reports back to LaCroix. . .and oh yeah, that making a ghoul is a LOT easier than she initially thought. Mostly because she thought it involved a bit more that ONE DRINK. Cue the panic! Poor Alice, she was just trying to do something nice. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – actually got all three currently unwatched sorted! Nice~

A) Started with yesterday’s upload of the Wyrd Sisters Podcast, as I had the time to listen tonight! This one tackled Unseen Academicals, which – despite the name – is not really a "Wizards" book. As the sisters said, there’s kind of two stories going on here (the UU faculty learning how to play football to protect their food budget and going up against the Dean’s new rival university for the Archancellor Hat vs Glenda Sugarbean slowly unlearning her ingrained classist attitudes as she realizes she doesn’t have to be the crab pulling her friends back into the bucket), and the one with the UU faculty is the less interesting one. Praise was given to Glenda’s romance with the shy and low-self-esteem-having Nutt, though, with a note that this isn’t something Terry generally gets right (it’s so often just a silly background element), and as usual everyone loved Vetinari’s appearances. I don’t remember this one much, but it DOES have an amazing bit from Vetinari regarding learning about evil watching nature and how humans need to become the moral superiors of gods. You never know when a raw Terry Pratchett line is gonna hit you, is what I mean – even in a book where someone replacing the ball with a tin can allows a guy to become an amazing football player. XD I mean, it’s a good book, I just wouldn’t call it one of my personal favorites. And next up is I Shall Wear Midnight, which – ALL the mixed feelings there. . .

B) Then it was over to today’s uploads, starting with Call Me Kevin and 2-D Minecraft! No, this is not a mod to make another 2-D game look like Minecraft – I’m not entirely sure HOW he pulled this off, but what it LOOKED like was him playing in a custom world that’s only a few blocks thick – like, it’s a slice of a proper Minecraft world – and he had someone else filming him from a third-person view that made it look like a 2-D game. It was very weird, but very cool – he had a little starter house with a starter dungeon, and a pretty long strip of land to work with! And it played pretty much like normal Minecraft – he strip-mined for iron, killed all the things except one horse once he had a proper sword, hid from enemies using blocks, just plunged straight down into the earth a couple of times just because he could, nearly fell to his death a couple of times, continually ran back and forth to confuse his cameraman (and occasionally hid behind the scenery), found diamond and upgraded all his gear, made an obsidian portal in the bowels of the earth, made flint and steel and started a forest fire, visited the Nether only to have to fight LOADS of Endermen, then went home and tamed the sole remaining horse before kitting it out and running back and forth to confuse his cameraman some more. XD I wouldn’t mind seeing more of this type of Minecraft – and maybe some technical details on how the hell it was even pulled off? I am curious.

C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and more GTA V waterslide fun! Well, fun for US – for him and Florida Man, maybe not so much. If only because these things just keep getting more vicious. Like this one – it STARTED with Gray having to bike UP a waterslide while avoiding the people being flung off the top into the slide to try and trip him up. And then, when he got to the top, we had slides featuring pedestrians shooting flare guns and Up-And-Atomizers at him! Slides featuring rains of cars! Slides featuring meteor showers! Slides featuring pulsating killer water jets and flames! Slides featuring a ball pit being stirred by wind turbines, soccer ball edition! And slides featuring a ball pit being stirred by wind turbines, BOWLING BALL edition! All of which involved Gray having to carefully time jumps from slide to slide to get to the next checkpoint. Satan is here and he has designed a series of waterslides. XD At least we can always rely on Gray and his masochism to conquer them for us!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – one ask reply over on Valice Multiverse, and the Smiler Always update (3 posts), the link to Chapter 5 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale of Tears,” and the write-up on Malkavian!Smiler over on Victor Luvs Alice! So that’s all sorted, yes, hooray.

So yeah -- work was a little annoying, and the shower thing is a real pain in the ass, but at least I was productive where it counted and managed to catch up on some stuff that otherwise would have sat in the Subs, taunting me, until the weekend. :P So that's something. And now it's time to head to bed and see what Wednesday brings. Hopefully a working shower. *sigh* Night all!

*me not forgetting to reply...* Nah. It didn't stick so it was just to be annoying. I think the robins that were bopping around the school were confused though.
