Mostly because I was able to keep the heat out of my room for most of the day. . .though, admittedly, it helped that it took a while for the day to heat up in the first place! Started off pretty cloudy and ick, but then just got sunnier and hotter as the day went on. . .and tomorrow's supposed to be more of the same. Summer REALLY came early this year!

Even with temperatures rising, though, I got my to-do list sorted:

1. Clean my room and do the monthly laundry: Check – got the cleaning part done between 10:45 AM and 1 PM (just in time for lunch!), while the laundry got folded in with the laundry Mom was doing anyway and came out in chunks throughout the day, with the last around 5:45 PM after we’d played beanbags and showered. *shrug* Ain’t complaining – good to have it all done for another week!

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, get a couple of videos out of the Watch Later: Check! Most Sims-related too –

A) Started with the latest from Simmer Erin: “SIM GURU RESPONDS: BASE GAME UPDATES, GAMEPLAY IN KITS, &"YEARS" OF SIMS 4 CONTENT (Q&A/ NEWS 2022)” Despite the fancy title, this is just her reporting on some responses SimGuruFrost gave to fans on Twitter asking about things like “when is the NPC Refresh update coming out” (answer: Can’t say as game development is so fluid); “are you going to be including more gameplay for kids going forward”) (answer: Can’t definitely state anything on new content updates, but I do advocate for it) and “is Little Campers going to add any new gameplay” (answer: No new gameplay, but the objects you get will have the interactions you expect). That last one has got some people divided, because – well, it’s animation reuse again, but on the other hand, at least the stuff WILL be interactive? Sometimes you gotta take what you can get. . .me, I have no horse in the Kit game, but I’m hoping that “rainbow capitalism” for June means we’ll get the promised “pronoun update” sooner rather than later – I want Smiler to be officially “they” in-game too.

B) Then it was over to the Plumbella I’d recently stored in my Watch Later:

I. “I tried building a house using objects I hate in The Sims 4” – Plumbella returns to a build challenge she did back in 2019 in honor of having red hair again, and builds a house in Sims 4 using objects she hates! Including the giant arcade machine and backyard observatory; the golden swan tub from Get Famous; specifically the pinky-purple swatch on the BlandCo counters in the base game; and this one wallpaper that has newspapers all over it. Oh, and a bunch of Journey To Batuu windows and doors. XD She ended up creating a build that would probably look best in Oasis Springs, with a little sand pit out front with some trees, a VERY purple combined kitchen/dining/living lower level (as someone who loves purple, I actually rather liked it), and an upstairs with a murder-y kind of bedroom (because of the newspaper wallpaper), a very weird bathroom (swan tub, industrial flooring), and a game room for the big arcade. There are builds much worse in the world, that’s for sure! XD And it’s always fun to hear her bitch about stuff she doesn’t like in the game.

II. “playing the sims for fun for the first time in years :)” – Plumbella shows us a bit of the Sims 2 family that she’s been playing just for fun, because she can’t resist making content out of it. XD I get that feel, Plumbella – I too take any save file that I try to play “just for fun” and turn it into a regular thing on my tumblr because part of the fun for me is sharing the screenshots and telling others what my Sims have been up to. Anyway, Plumbella was playing Lola Henson, a young lady midway through college with a boyfriend, a 4.0 GPA, and a recently-deceased grandfather. Plumbella took us through the end of her senior year, which primarily involved largely ignoring her boyfriend to keep up on skills, assignments, and term papers (which go a lot faster than Plumbella remembers – she thinks she’s got a mod in that she’d forgotten she installed); installing a toilet and a shower in her own room because the bathrooms were too far of a trek; having two terrible parties because Plumbella wanted her to have some fun for a change (one Not Bad sports party; one Real Dud house party); getting into the drums; going to finals at absolutely wacky times (she didn’t seem to have one final that wasn’t in the middle of the night); graduating Summa Cum Laude with an Art degree; and finally moving back home with her dad, who had (thanks to a story progression mod) adopted two dogs in her absence. Strange but cute – glad to see Plumbella’s love of the game and the franchise remains when she's off-camera! (Er – you know what I mean.)

C) Then we moved over to the Subs for the latest from James Turner: “I ran 8 clubs at once to earn $1,000,000!” This was inspired by a comment on a previous video, revealing that you can have multiple club gatherings going on at once if you have multiple Sims in the family running them. James thus created a family of EIGHT randomized Semajs, took them to Brindleton Bay, and decided to have them EACH run a painting club with five other Sims, and do all the gatherings at the same time to gather the paintings and sell them to get to a million simoleons in the “Makin’ Money” challenge! (With the help of MC Command Center, because otherwise not all the Sims would actually show up for the gatherings.)

This proved to be – more difficult than first expected. Starting with “Makin’ Money” being a “rags to riches” scenario and thus this family of eight started out with no money. And then James couldn’t completely fill up all the clubs, because he ran out of available Sims that the game would actually offer him around club five, so he had to send a couple of Semajs out into different worlds to meet a few people and invite them to join the remaining few clubs. And THEN, to get some starter cash, one of the Semajs formed a fishing club with a bunch of the other Semajs, and they all camped out at Willow Creek for a while to fish. This eventually resulted in enough funds for one easel – James set up his usual trick of “four tiles of free flooring to get the Micro Home boosts going,” put a giant glass roof over the lot because it apparently rains a LOT in Brindleton Bay, and started hosting one club gathering at a time to get Sims to paint for him! The initial paintings went into buying more easels so more Sims could paint at a time, then a bed was purchased, then a fridge, then a bin, then a tiny toilet room was built, then a tiny shower room. . .

And eventually, everyone started getting good enough to paint GOOD paintings, and the money actually started to go up at a decent pace. The Semajs graduated to a pen of uncomfortable kiddy beds and a tiny outdoor “kitchenette,” then an actual indoor kitchen; the bathroom grew into a multi-cubicle thing; and of course more and more easels were placed until finally, FINALLY there were enough for all the gatherings to happen at once. And so all were called to the lot, to stand there and paint for as long as they could! They did kinda trickle in one at a time, but I think James DID end up with the majority of each club on the lot, painting away and making more and more masterpieces as time went on! w000! Successful episode, right?

Sort of – James never made it to a million. He simply couldn’t keep up with all of the paintings to sell, either directly off the easel or from the City Living selling wall – especially with having to deal with all the various Semajs’ needs. But he admitted that completing the challenge wasn’t really the goal of this video – just seeing if he could do the multiple club gatherings was. Though he also admitted that, if there was a way to do this with the SKETCHPADS, which are a lot faster than the easels. . .hmm. (I don’t think it’s actually possible, though – I’m pretty sure those paintings go straight into your inventory.)

D) And finally, in the only non-Sims video of the day, we had GrayStillPlays and “Whatever is on trending comes to life in GTA 5!” AKA, it’s time for Alex and Danny to torture Gray with strange parkour boards in GTA V – based on three things Gray found by going to the “Trending” page and clicking on Gaming! The themes he chose were “Clones,” “The Poppy’s Playtime Monsters,” and “Wal-Mart 24 Hour Challenge” (someone simulated it in Minecraft). Alex and Danny promptly got on the case, and we received three boards – two Alex, one Danny:

Poppy’s Playtime – This was actually three boards in one! Alex designed first a one-minute death course where Gray had to ride his terrible deer Meaty Bits along a narrow ledge, dodging wind turbines and smashing various “Kissy Missy” monsters (the pink variation on the weird blue danger Muppet that is Poppy) who were using their Jedi powers to block the way with rocks. And he had to do it in a minute to get through the target at the end before the hole got blocked. After that was a trip through a logging mill, where – after Gray finally beat the “Mommy Long Legs” (the noodle monster he parkoured on last time) trying to kill him with a crate of beer – Meaty got lured away by a sexy Santa doe, and Gray had to run after him on the conveyor belt, getting set on fire by guys with flare guns all the while and having to kick their heads in to progress; and finally Gray had to find a way to summon Meaty back to the main logging yard while dodging Poppy himself shooting Up-&-Atomizer blasts at him – this was done via finding a teleporter and activating the “alcohol” script. Which triggered Meaty and his new girlfriend to slap Poppy off the roof he was lurking on and let Gray beat him to death. XD Next board!

Clones – The second Alex creation, this was a “1,000 IQ” board featuring – well – a bunch of Gray clones! You know a board is gonna be good when it starts off with Gray launching himself off a waterslide, through a waterfall of his own clones jumping to their death. XD Once he made it past the Grayfall and onto the actual platform with his car, he had to do such things as let his car be hit in the side with a rocket fired by a clone to make a sideways jump onto a narrow platform; allow a clone to carry him via forklift to the next checkpoint; allow a clone to take the car and then hit him so hard he flew onto the next platform; do a chassis slide with a tank (balancing the cannon bit on a narrow ledge while he drove over the lower ledge with a single tread); smack a clone onto the next platform with the tank’s cannon so he could drive a ramp car back over the lip, then position the cannon in line with the ramp so he could run across it and jump onto the car; and finally set up the ramp car to allow him to ramp over it and into the win on a motorcycle. Took almost all of Gray’s brainpower and a lot of clone trauma, but he did it!

Wal-Mart – The Danny board, which was simple but quite amusing – Gray was trapped in the world’s shittiest Wal-Mart, and had to find a way to break open the exit. Meaty Bits was lounging around inside, but needed motivation to smash through the wall blocking the door. Motivation was provided in the form of a cold beer cooler and a matching teleport for the wall. All Gray had to do was pick it up with the nearby convenient forklift, move it to the right spot, and watch as Meaty basically exceeded the speed of light to get to it, removing all obstacles to the win. XD Gotta love the alcoholic deer! And Alex and Danny, obviously.

3. Play Sims 4 and have Smiler throw an unofficial dinner party for Harvestfest for Victor, Alice, and the Pleasant twins: Check! Smiler ended up having a very nice Harvestfest – got their homework for the day done early, then took a quick break to watch some World Culture before doing the homework for the next class. When the holiday itself rolled around, since their house was already “decorated” from Spookfest (I use the term loosely because you can barely see anything on their roof), they checked off that immediately, and were VERY successful in appeasing the gnomes! I think I’ve worked out the pattern regarding what gnomes like what offerings – the alien gnome liked a future cube, for example, while the two rabbit gnomes liked salads. Hey, whatever stops everything in the house from breaking via angry gnome!

With the gnomes taken care of and the holiday already on a good track, Smiler spent the rest of their morning doing a first draft of their final presentation for their “Pondering Personalities” class, then headed off to said class. Once they got home, I had them cook a grand breakfast (as all the seed packets the gnomes were dropping meant they had fruit in their inventory, and that halved the cost of that particular feast), then threw an informal ungoaled dinner party with Victor, Alice, Lilith Pleasant, and Brant Hecking (I also invited Angela, but either she never showed up or she was invisible thanks to game glitches). It went pretty well – Smiler chatted cheerfully with all their guests, called them all to eat the Grand Breakfast (I stopped them eating a plate themselves, though – “Withered Stomach” might not activate for a keg drink, but solid food? Ain’t risking it!), then continued socializing as everyone chowed down and did random push-ups. XD They also snagged another drink of Victor’s plasma, plus some kissing and cuddle time. :) And gave everyone a burst of happiness near the end of the party, because, you know, that’s their thing. :D Sadly, when the ungoaled party wrapped up, all Smiler got was a Cooking skill book – no tick on the Party Animal aspiration. I hate that stupid thing.

After the party was over and Smiler had cleaned up and done some dark meditation, I was trying to figure out what else I wanted to do with them when I noticed that the Bot Savants had a meet-up! Since the holiday meant that Smiler wouldn’t have to ditch it early to go to work, I had them hit the last three hours, chatting with member Valentino, making insta-friends with member Cletus, and tinkering away on the robotics station (when I could stop them trying to run off to play basketball, anyway). Once that wrapped up around eleven, I then sent them over to the local fishing hole to examine the water and fish with some of the holly they’d picked up from the seed packets. They caught another treefish, a walleye, and a guppy, all of which were turned into plasma packs (both for “om nom” purposes and for “completing another mini-goal on the Good Vampire aspiration track” purposes). And then, finally, as the holiday officially wrapped up, it was time to head home –

And sell a LOAD of stuff! Because Smiler always needs the money, yo. XD We sold the spare rabbit gnome, most of the higher-level stuff from the seed packets (I kept some of the lower-value plants for bait purposes), the cooking skill book, the VIP bucket they got on their recent date with Victor – all in all, once they were done, they were at $2,980 for loose funds, which is the most they’ve had in a while! Good for you, Smiler. :) Next time (whenever that is post-patch), we’ll finish off Fall Friday on-campus and see if we can’t advance at least a little in the Spirit Squad organization!

4. Write some more on "As Long As You Love Me": Check – did this after beanbags and an early shower. Alice has explained about how she had to kill her way across Wonderland to get her sanity back near the end of her stay in Rutledge, and assured Victor it didn’t really give her a “taste for murder” – though she’ll allow it probably did inure her to violence. We’re up to her dropping the bombshell of who ran the halfway house/orphanage she landed in after her release from the asylum, and what it was used for. Poor Victor, he’s learning so many dark and horrible things about the world today. . .

Additionally:

-->Despite the heat, we all did go out to play beanbags (though we waited until the game was in the shade – not THAT fond of sweating our butts off). I had some pretty lousy games, but managed to pull out some good throws in the last couple, while Dad was the clear champ and Mom basically went up and down a hill. XD Final scores were me 3-2-3-W-3; Dad W-W-2-2-W; Mom 2-3-W-3-2. Hey, we all won at least once, so that’s fine by me. :)

-->Got the pictures for the next Smiler Always update (going to GeekCon and getting more robotics skill) all sorted, so that’s good! I’ll have to stick them in the Victor Luvs Alice queue tomorrow. :)

So if nothing else, I had a nice Saturday where I got plenty done, yay. Now let's set up the Sunday to-dos:

1. Keep up with the FO4 Playthrough Progression

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, OXBoxtra lists, and Jon's FO4: Point Lookout video

3. Play Fallout 4 and continue clearing out the Statehouse

4. Work on tumblr drafts

5. Get in a workout (optional)

I mean, it's supposed to be SUPER freaking hot tomorrow, so we'll definitely see about that last one. *waggles hand* Night all!
