Late Update Once More
Jun. 6th, 2022 11:48 pmI seriously do NOT know where the time goes anymore -- let's just throw this up and get moving:
Work – Fairly quiet day – simple GL, not a lot of phone calls, mostly worked on exceptions, write-offs, and a bit of gift posting. Which is good because my concentration was not the best today. Brain thinking of Valicer things, not my job. XD We’ll see if focus comes back tomorrow – if not, we’ll live with it. :P
Beanbags – My parents had to finish replacing the switches in the kitchen first (they’re starting a remodel and the electric situation in this house is a minor nightmare), but we did get out and play a few rounds! Mom improved marginally, while I slowly slid downward from a starting high – final scores were me W-2-3; Dad 2-W-W; Mom 3-3-2. *shrug* We’ll see if it gets better tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check, back on the bike and back to the Oxventure – in SPACE! Yes, as it turns out, the next video in the playlist was a one-off adventure of the gang playing the one-page RPG Lasers and Feelings, which puts players on the The Raptor, an exploratory spaceship, and challenges them to have cool space adventures with Lasers (which covers anything sciencey) and Feelings (which covers anything emotional). Each player picks a number to determine where they fall on the spectrum (lower numbers are better at Feelings, higher better at Lasers), and rolls are handled by grabbing one or more D6 (depending on if your character has expertise in a situation or came prepared) and rolling to see how you do (with Laser rolls, you want below your number; with Feelings rolls, you want above; getting EXACTLY your number gets you Laser Feelings, an automatic success on that die, and the chance to ask the GM a question they must answer honestly). It’s a simple game perfect for a quick space adventure!
So here we are, on a quick space adventure! XD Corazon is now Corazon de Estrella, the rougish pilot; Dob is now Stardob MD, the medical officer who is always drinking martinis; Egbert is now Egbot, an android looking for derelict stuff to scrap; Prudence is now Pru D’enzia, the security officer who very much want to shoot all the bad guys; and Merilwen is is now Mer-Ilwen, an alien explorer looking to meet more new aliens! As stated, they were all part of the crew of The Raptor, which normally would be captained by one Captain Binbag, but he’s currently in a coma in a medical pod for Reasons. Stardob instantly opened by giving the comatose captain CPR, getting a Laser Feelings success, and asking Johnny what the best way to spice up his martini would be. XD (Lemon peel, apparently!) With that out of the way, the actual plot could begin, which consisted of the crew going to investigate a ship who briefly let out a distress signal, and has now just been drifting aimlessly for the past couple of days as far as anyone can tell. Corazon E (as I will be calling him to differentiate him from Standard DnD Corazon) was the first one out the door, kicking open the airlock and turning spinning wildly into a cool backflip thanks to a good Feelings roll. (If you’re curious – Corazon E and Stardob are very Feelings-based characters with 2s as their number; Egbot and Pru are more Laser-based characters with 4 and 5 respectively, and Mer is, naturally, straight down the middle with a 3.) The gang made their way over to the floating ship (Egbot getting some good use out of his thruster, you know where it is XD) and landed to find that the life support systems were just BARELY functioning (as evidenced by Stardob taking off his helmet, trying to insist the thin air was just fine, and then passing out, requiring Egbot to revive him via robo-breathing). After Corazon E put a hole through one of the diagnostic screens in an attempt to laser it back to life, the group proceeded to the bridge, where they found the dead body of the previous captain (Stardob attempted to shake him back to life, but no go). Pru and Stardob were able to find the main breaker of the ship and bring up all the systems, which reactivated life support, gravity (everyone fell on their asses, and Egbot bent his thruster), and the ship’s AI, L1L14N4!
. . .yeah, if you can guess what letters the 1 and 4 stand for, you can probably also guess the gang was in trouble. XD L1L14N4 (or “Liliana”) greeted them cheerfully as the new crew, prompting them to ask what had happened to the old one. L1L14N4 claimed they didn’t have the authorization to ask that, so Corazon E declared himself the captain (and got himself saddled with, respectively, “Captain One-Eye” and “Captain Dead Grandparents” for an official name by L1L14N4 when he forgot to give his proper one) and got the answer out of her – she’d asphyxiated them. For insubordination. She also declared that they WOULD be going to this one space station that two warring planets who’d recently come to a cautious peace had built together between their two worlds, and they WOULD be blowing it up. The others were – not keen on this, and started looking for ways to stop the AI (suggestions included pretending to play along, and then shooting the ship into the sun and leaping for safety in their spacesuits (Egbot); somehow finding a way to shut off L1L14N4 (Mer); and Corazon E shooting the speaker, which – he successfully disabled THE SPEAKER, but given L1L14N4 can just talk to them through their suit speakers. . .). However, things are already looking a bit grim, as L1L14N4 made sure that one of her first acts as an active AI was to go and BLOW UP The Raptor, meaning they’re now STUCK on her ship. I left it with the gang deciding, “Well, we’re here, so what’s the most efficient way of clearing out the dead bodies,” and Stardob suggesting they just cycle the airlock and everyone hold onto him as he holds onto a chair. XD Everyone is like twice as chaotic as they are normally, particularly Luke, and I love it. Looking forward to seeing where this goes over the next couple of days!
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has met Damsel, and given the amount of shit she got from her in like two sentences, she is not impressed. XD Fortunately she managed to accidentally short-circuit the argument by asking her what was “plaguing” her, which has led to the Anarch half of the “plaguebearers” quest and Alice agreeing to look into it for them as well as the Camarilla. Because while she may think Damsel and Skelter are assholes, and Nines maybe a touch condescending, she does NOT want to become a disease vector. We all appreciate it, Alice – more than some humans will do. *grumbles*
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – easy two-in, two-out today. . .
A) Started with the latest from James Turner – episode 46 of the Cottage Living LP! The penultimate episode, as James tries to wrap things up in preparation for Werewolves coming out. The key highlights were as follows:
I. Hazel getting some new gigs now that James has repopulated his world with families from the Gallery! Hazel ended up doing a “Pick-A-Room” addition for a lady over in Newcrest – the “room” ended up being a balcony extension with a violin and a massage table, as the client liked violin and wellness (and involved Hazel giving the client a massage and vice-versa), and a “Gaming Room Addition” for a guy in the Streamlet Single in Willow Creek (which involved just giving him a nice computer and the giant arcade machine). Hazel also picked up a few things for the vault – a nice sculpture from the first gig, and a Baby Yoda figure from the second. Not that we have any money to DO anything to the vault yet. . .
II. Chaz and Trenton planted a fuckton of pumpkins for the final big harvest to earn “finish the vault bathroom” money – and their elderly gardener ended up dying in the middle of helping to take care of them all. And then Grim glitched out because one of the evil chickens was trying to block him reaping, only to just constantly cycle in and out of its coop. James ended up having to reset Grim to actually have him reap poor Gardener Shingo, and now his very real gravestone has joined the fake ones in the sitting area. XD
III. Nina aged up to a teenager! She has very red hair and the world’s biggest lips combined with the world’s smallest chin. At least now she’s no longer blue? And she picked up some nice glasses too – along with some VERY vibrant eyeshadow. XD James randomized “Bro” as her second personality trait, to go with “Lactose Intolerant,” and chose the “Country Caretaker” aspiration solely for the “Collector” bonus trait, as apparently he’s thinking she’ll be the one used for the new pack, and since that pack is apparently going to have lots of collections. . .might as well get a jump start on things, right?
And that’s it for now! Next time, finishing off the vault – and maybe even getting Hazel and Trenton married! We shall see. . .
B) And then we had GrayStillPlays with Baby Life 3-D. You know the drill – horrible mobile game with backgrounds ripped from Google Images and only enough budget to animate one character at a time. Though there was also a puppy that could ring doorbells. XD Gray guided mother dearest through such choices telling either her boyfriend or her husband about the impending special event (like THIRD CHOICE in the game, after determining whether or not the baby that makes HER ENTIRE STOMACH FLEX was gas); painting the nursery the same color yellow as the walls; throwing a baby shower and getting presents like a Google Images painting and a carton of milk (which Gray put on the shelf); ordering items for the baby (like a pitch-black baby bottle and orange diapers to make the baby look a bit like Batman – also the cheap baby food because if they got hungry they could just eat the dog); and finally taking her to the hospital in the ambulance (hitting every car along the way) and giving birth to the backflipping YEETICLESE THE MIGHTY. XD Gray’s commentary really elevates these games to an art form, I swear. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A, which is good because, as per usual, I ran out of time to really do much on tumblr other than a quick dashboard catch-up on Victor Luvs Alice.
Well, at least I'm keeping up on most things. And I got the extra screwing-around time from getting home from work a half-hour early, so there's that. And tomorrow's a whole HOUR early! So that'll be nice! In the meantime, though, I gotta get to bed -- night all!
