Though, really, given my fandoms these days, it was Victor I was focusing on. XD Anyway, while the day had a few annoyances (started out absolutely miserably stormy, said storm showed our bathroom fan is still leaking, and there were the usual idiots out on the road), I'm feeling a lot calmer, even with the late update. And I got plenty done too:
Work – The quiet week continues, with me doing more obituaries/duplicates, working on a QC file, and taking a few credit cards over the phone. I can dig it! We’ll see if tomorrow’s more of the same – my coworker will be out, but hopefully that won’t be a bad omen. . .
Beanbags – Again, the stormy start to the day dried out by the afternoon (though it was fucken wimdy), so we did get out and play. I had a lousy first and third game, but did well on the second, while Mom still hasn’t managed to pull out any fresh wins. Shame. Final scores were me 3-W-3; Dad W-2-W; Mom 2-3-2.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and – as it was Victor’s birthday today – decided to try and find some Corpse Bride stuff to watch! It was kind of slim pickings, unfortunately, but I did get through:
A) A short video of someone looking at one of Victor’s bits in the piano duet (when he’s first trying to cheer up Emily) and playing it for themselves on a real piano to see what it sounds like (turns out that he genuinely is animated correctly to be playing the bit he’s playing, it’s just a half-tone too low, which could easily be explained away by the way the piano’s tuned!)
B) A recap of the movie as read by a computer (it said it was Corpse Bride “Explained” in the title, so I took the bait and got freaking Siri)
C) “Things Only Adults Notice In Corpse Bride,” one of those “random trivia” videos about the movie (mostly stuff I was already aware of, like Victor putting the ring on the wrong finger and whatnot – the bit about the oak tree Emily was buried next to being modeled off the one from Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow was new though!)
D) One of the trailers (a cut-down version of the long one with the poem – I have no idea if it’s actually official or if it’s someone’s edit)
E) And here’s where I kind of ran out of CB stuff, so I went ahead and watched a video from two guys giving tips on how to optimize your time going around Alton Towers on a moderately-busy day (included things like “go toward Galactica and Nemesis first; hop on any walk-on ride you can find; don’t be afraid to eat in line, there’s bins; do Oblivion before The Smiler”). Not bad! Not that I know if I’ll ever be able to use any of these tips, but they’re good to know just in case. :p
2. Continue writing “As Long As You Love Me”: Check – the conversation at the diner continues, with Victor talking about his six nannies – then, when Alice starts insinuating that she thinks Nell is a bitch, insisting she’s just got strong opinions because he doesn’t want Alice to knife his mother should they meet. XD We’ve just gotten up to him meeting Victoria (because he’s pretty sure his parents bribed hers to set up a date), and next time should plunge us into this universe’s version of Corpse Bride!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – another single upload in the Subs today (though it was a surprisingly long one – good thing today was the story that DOESN’T require me to look up LPs for dialogue!), so I cleared another thing from the Watch Later –
A) First up, the final AT4W I needed to catch up on – or, rather, the final Late Night Double Feature! Clive Sinclair looked at the “Hell House LLC” trilogy of found footage/faux documentary horror films, detailing the strange and horrific events around a haunted hotel called The Abaddon Hotel, which the “Hell House LLC” company tried to renovate into a new haunted house attraction, only for everyone to end up brutally slaughtered because it’s haunted by the original owner, the creator of a demonic cult, and has a literal portal to hell in it. The second and third films detail the attempts of others to figure out what happened in the first movie and what’s going on now, and how they often ended up killed for their trouble – though the third movie actually puts a bit of a twist on the murder ending. . . They’re not the greatest examples of the genre, but they’re not horrible either, with the second movie being the strongest and the third the weakest (as is often the case with trilogies). Clive seemed to enjoy them, anyway! But now I am caught up on all the Linkara stuff and must just wait for the latest AT4W to be uploaded. :)
B) And from there, it was over to the Subs for some more horror content from Call Me Kevin, “The Quarry but I pick every bad option!” The Quarry is a new horror game from the same people who made Until Dawn, and it’s another one of those choice-based sort of “interactive movie”-type games with multiple protagonists in a horror situation! In this case, it’s a bunch of camp counselors who were preparing to leave the Hackett’s Quarry lodge now that camping season is over, but one of them ended up sabotaging the car so they could stay a night longer and maybe fix some relationship problems in the group. Except there is a supernatural hag who loves silence in the woods, and some very real hunters who seem to prefer the “most dangerous” game (judging by the way they were looking at the kids before smearing blood all over themselves), aaaand what looks to be some form of werewolf. But the most dangerous thing of all about this place?
Kevin’s in charge and he is determined to fail every quick-time event and make every terrible decision regarding these kids and their lives. XD He got the prologue couple slaughtered pretty quickly by some nameless monster in the lodge and a freaky cop (apparently played by Sam Raimi’s brother, Ted!), and with the main group, he’s made sure to sabotage every relationship possible (refusing to let people kiss, made everyone snap at each other at any provocation, made sure spin-the-bottle ends with everyone jealous of each other), forced the guy worst at lying into doing things like eavesdropping on the camp counselor (who seems to have dark secrets lurking in the background – also a secret security camera room), broken the ladder into the secret hatch under the guy’s office (which came with a “path updated” message, so SOMETHING’S gonna go wrong there), and failed every quick time event so people stumble, smash into things, and continually fail to catch tossed car keys. XD Most of this opening section was about the teenage relationship drama, but at least one teenager, Nick, has been eaten by the possible werewolf after Kevin absolutely REFUSED to let him have a romantic moment with one of the girls, Abi, so – that’s something! We’ll see if Kevin makes this a series and goes for the Total Party Kill. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – one ask reply in the queue for Valice Multiverse, and one answered early because it was specifically a birthday message for Victor (from his OC daughter Madeline played by my friend Marie) and, well, it’s his birthday TODAY and all. Over on the Victor Luvs Alice side, I didn’t QUITE finish the text for my Song Saturday post, but I got more of it done – and, of course, I got my Victor Plush and Alice Dolly picture up for the former’s birthday. XD So that was nice!
Maybe not QUITE as productive as I might have wanted at the end there, but I was determined to get that picture posted, and I'll have some more time tomorrow to finish up that post, so. . .not gonna worry about it. Instead I'm going to bed at a more reasonable time of night (with it being generally cooler as well) and get some sleep so I can get through my final day of work tomorrow. *nods* Night all!
