crossover_chick: Victor on the ground with one hand up with the text "Nooo! Anything but the fangirls!" (CB: save Victor from the fangirls!)

17 years of this movie now, wow. O.o While I didn't have the most exciting day off to celebrate, I did wear my CB T-shirt all day (under my Tim Burton's Alice Cheshire Cat hoodie, because chilly windy day) and got in some CB-related stuff, like rereading the TV Tropes page on the movie. :) I also did very well on the old to-do list:

1. Continue writing "As Long As You Love Me": Check – into the “Are You Ready For It” segment, with Victor trying to explain to a baffled and worried Victoria and Emily what exactly Alice’s deal is and why he’s going back to her. Obviously this is going to take a bit of doing, but at least he’s off to a solid start by telling them about Hugo Landis and his snuff films, the biker gang, and Biff “let’s murder the people whose cars I fix on this abandoned road” Tannen. Though they’re not really going to get it until he starts talking about his OWN feelings regarding her. . .

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, try to get something out of the Watch Later, watch something Corpse Bride related: Check! :D I am very pleased that I got all of this sorted –

A) Started with the “something out of the Watch Later” this evening – the first of the two AT4W episodes I need to catch up on, “Ken Penders' The Lost Ones #1!” Ken’s attempt at an original work, using two characters he first debuted in an Image Comics crossover with Sonic in the “Super Sonic Special #7.” Yes, it’s THAT Ken, the one who decided he wanted to own Knuckles and all the lore he’d done for him, and Archie comics couldn’t produce the contract that said it was all work-for-hire for Sega. Also he’s apparently just a bit of a dick in general. I don’t know if any of that influenced this comic’s sales, or if it just straight up wasn’t popular enough in general to justify a second issue. All I know is that the comic itself had a decently interesting premise – American government trying to hunt down this mysterious woman with the power to control electrons (meaning she can fuck with both computers and brains), Particle, as she searches for her family and runs briefly afoul of an unnamed villain and a couple of his cyborg minions while checking out her old house – but wasn’t executed very well (Linkara pointing out a lot of pages where the word balloons just did not flow in any natural reading order in particular). Also there was a weird subplot about history involving frequent flashbacks to the Hiroshima bombing that never got resolved, because, again, no second issue. It’s just – kinda there, honestly. Not bad, not good, just – unrealized potential. Bit of a shame, as Particle’s character design and concept IS pretty cool. Linkara wants her jacket. XD

B) Then it was over to the Subs for this week’s Fun With Shorts – “How Blood Clots,” Part 1! First bit of a short on – well. It’s in the title. XD Showing a few slightly gnarly images of damaged blood vessels clotting, blood clotting in test tubes, and blood being spun in centrifuges until they separate into cells and plasma. Roughly informative, but not very entertaining until you add Josh riffs like “this movie was made by a chemical company, wasn’t it?” (in response to all the chemicals being used to find out what’s in plasma) and “they sound like true patriots” (in response to white blood cells keeping out foreign bodies). XD

C) Then we had GrayStillPlays and “I found 100 ways to become king” – aka, Gray plays Murder! Okay, so this is a simple game in two parts – in the first part, you are an evil scheming noble who must sneak up on the king and successfully stab and kill him to take his crown and robe without him turning around at an awkward moment. In the SECOND part, you must continue on AS king and catch various would-be murderers as they sneak up behind you with various implements of destruction, until such time as your life meter expires and you drop dead from old age, in which case whoever was following you at the time becomes King and the game restarts with a new you – or, if it’s the Jester, he yeets the crown and kills some poor bastard in the privy. XD While this game can go through this loop forever, there are a few different endings and a few unique deaths – for example, one of the nobles isn’t looking to KILL you, but just wants to hug, squeeze, and marry you, and you end up living rather happily together. If the peasants break in and manage to kill you, though (and there’s three of them, and you have to catch them ALL), there’s a general overthrowing of the monarchy and the castle burns. The ending you want, though, is “Eternal,” obtained by finding the butler who ISN’T carrying poison and who will instead give you the Elixir of Immortality, allowing you to finally reach the throne room without croaking and put on the world’s most ridiculous dagger crown. XD Gray was so pleased when that happened – though not as pleased as he was by the domestic ending, simply because one of the kids in that ending could swallow a block as big as his head. XD

D) And finally, in the “watch something Corpse Bride related” section, while I was not able to actually boot up the movie itself (any time I had for that endeavor was taking up by my Sims playing, below), I did find a playlist with a good selection of clips on YouTube and watched a handful of those! Title sequence, “According To Plan,” the parents meeting, Victor’s piano solo and first meeting with Victoria, Victor’s piano duet with Emily, his meeting Mayhew in the Land of the Dead and Victoria’s wedding to Barkis, “The Wedding Song,” and Emily turning into butterfiles. :) Not bad – I’d say that’s a good third of the movie right there! :)

3. Play Sims 4 and either have Victor and Alice work on their supernatural powers and have Smiler hit up their Spirit Squad Bar Night or do some building: Check – actually playing my Valicer trio won out. :) And it was a reasonably productive day too –

A) Victor FINALLY ordered the gang some groceries! It took a while for them to arrive, given that he did so really early in the morning, but now they have meat, cheese, flour, and sugar to go along with all the produce from the garden. :) And can make actual meals that aren’t just fruit salad. Took advantage of that later in the day, with Victor making some steak tartare and Alice some beef wellington.

B) Smiler finished up more of their homework and completed refining their presentation while chatting with Guidry – though I was rather annoyed at one point to cut back to them and find them flirting. Oi – Smiler may be pansexual, but they’re in a committed relationship with Victor (and, by proxy, Alice). I had them “just friends” Guidry right away so there wasn’t any nonsense going on there. Damn flirty ghosts.

C) Victor and Alice both improved their supernatural abilities – Alice leveled up to a werewolf Runt off the back of some scavenging, and grabbed the “Will To Resist” power (allows her to try and regain control when she’s rampaging) and the “Restless Animal” temperament (she prefers to be outside whenever possible and hates being bored/having low fun). Victor, meanwhile, practiced the HELL out of his practical magic, and finally learned a new spell – Scruberoo! This is the one that allows you clean anything. They successfully used it on Smiler once when I noticed their hygiene need was getting rather low. :) Slowly but surely getting that magic under control!

D) Speaking of which, I FINALLY remembered to get this house a séance table, and Victor did his first “séance,” checking the house’s spiritual volatility (everything’s cool, haunts are happy). Finally getting him toward becoming the medium I want him to be!

E) I got some use out of the “Occult Preferences” mod via having the option for Victor to actually offer himself up to Smiler to feed off of, which gives a happy moodlet on top of the uncomfortable one. Sadly, it’s the standard “feed with permission” wrist feeding, and I have no idea if my Meep69 mod that changes that animation to the “compelled” one works with this mod. Meeh. At least now Victor can just give Smiler automatic permission to eat via that method!

F) Alice unfortunately had a SUPER tense day at work as I was forcing her to work hard to get her closer to that final promotion, and that triggered a fear of a dead-end job – I had her chill out afterwards with a Milk, Honey, and Oatmeal soak. *pause* I should send these guys to a spa at some point.

G) Victor finally got into flower arranging – Summer’s Morning chrysanthemum arrangement. Didn’t turn out great, but it cost him nothing to make, so even a poor quality arrangement is pure profit when its sold. (I was tempted to Repairio it, but – so many fires lately.) Smiler’s also getting into yoga properly, which is nice, and made some new mechanisms for future robot fun. Eventually I will get everyone all sorted with all the skills I feel they should have!

H) Smiler did indeed go out to their Spirit Squad Bar Night – they started things off with a burst of happiness for everyone around them, then led a few cheers, tried to shower in the rain, ALMOST led a cheer naked (the animation never completed, which I am almost sad about), detected some personalities, danced to the radio, taunted a rival student and then immediately befriended them, and generally had a good time! Though they didn’t get quite enough Spirit Squad points to get their meter full. . .I suppose I can try to get some more action in when they go to their finals, but I suspect I’m not gonna max it out before they graduate. Meh.

I) Smiler came home and promptly tried to befriend a wild rabbit, Clover (though it didn’t go very well – turns out this bunny does not like flowers as gifts), before making another drink to give to one of the specters floating around (a weird yellowish one with glasses), who – despite an apparently lukewarm response to the gift – did accept the present and gave Smiler a soul scrap in return! So that’s nice. Victor, meanwhile, finished up his flower arrangement and made steak tartare before going to work on the song in his inventory. . .

J) And as it was a full moon, Alice went on a RAMPAGE! Which consisted of me making her run around the outskirts of the farm, scavenging the ground (and finding a few nice gems!) and marking her territory. She apparently lightly scared Victor as they passed each other on the stairs and now feels bad about that. Honey, he barely noticed you. XD It was a pretty calm rampage though, all things considered – and happily, on my second attempt, I got her to regain control and turn back into a human. She felt pretty bad afterward, but I think she’s doing quite well for a werewolf!

K) And we ended with the house making more freaky noises and scaring Victor, who freaked out at Alice and scared her in return; Smiler mopping up slime creatures; and the game informing me that the hatchable eggs we were incubating were ready to hatch! It was then that I knew I had to quit THEN or I’d be playing well into the night. XD What can I say – this house is chaotic and hard to keep up with sometimes, but it IS fun. I love my Simmies. <3 Though that being said, I don’t think I’d say no to just doing some building tomorrow!

4. Work on tumblr drafts: Check – did a massive dash-and-tags catch-up on Victor Luvs Alice this morning, sticking a few neat posts from the A:MR and CB tags in my drafts, then after lunch went ahead and cleaned up a new Not-Incorrect Valicer Quotes post I came up with a little bit ago, with a musical theme (features Smiler rickrolling both Victor and Alice and getting surprise responses back). Also got all the pictures I needed for my next Chill Save update sorted, so I’ll be able to slap those into drafts sooner rather than later!

5. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and back to the Oxventure for one more video – “Orbpocalypse Episode 0 – Levelling Up!” Because the gang was due a level up before their big saga, from Level 7 to Level 8! Corazon and Egbert didn’t have anything too dramatic happen – their level-ups basically consisted of adding some points to their ability scores (Constitution and Charisma, respectively), updating their hit point totals, and talking about Corazon’s not-TECHNICALLY-broken multiclassing (Swashbuckler interacts with Arcane Trickster in some fun ways) and how Egbert just refuses to use spells unless he has to or he thinks it’s funny. XD Dob and Prudence both got some new spells, though – Dob picked up “Shatter,” which is apparently “smaller Thunderwave that I can have emanate from a point other than myself,” while Prudence swapped out her Ill-Omen invocation for “Eldritch Spear,” which turns her Agonizing Blast into a sniper that can be fired from 300 feet away. Many, many jokes about aiming both at people’s crotches were made. XD Prudence also has “Banish,” which allows her to temporarily banish people to another plane of existence. Merilwen, meanwhile, didn’t pick up any specific new SPELLS, but she did get a new spell SLOT, and now is working with a much BIGGER deck of spells she can use to prepare for any particular game. So THAT’LL be fun – and hopefully get her some more unique stuff. XD

Oh, but it’s not just THEM that are leveling up – JOHNNY has decided to level up too, so to speak. Mainly in the form of dropping the “training wheels” and forcing the gang to consider things LIKE spell slots instead of just letting them sling magic around willy-nilly, and throwing harder encounters at them. They are allowing Corazon to keep some of his absolutely bonkers bonuses, and they aren’t going to force anyone to go looking for spell components because they personally hate that feature (except when it’s funny, like Prudence somehow having something her target finds distasteful on her for her “Banish” spell – Johnny won’t make her FIND it, they just wanna know what it is she’s carrying), but apparently from this point on, some rules are being enforced a little more strictly. Should make the Orbpocalypse interesting! Though first I have to catch up a little more on the Bladeventures. . . :D

Not bad at all, that! :) And now I'm doing a bit of the social thing and getting asks into the queue on Valice Multiverse, so let me set up the actual Saturday to-do list (because, as you might imagine, today just felt like a Saturday all over) --

1. Continue writing "As Long As You Love Me"

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and continue clearing out the Watch Later

3. Play Sims 4 and do some building (either updating the Chill Save House or another project)

4. Work on tumblr drafts

Standard non-cleaning Saturday stuff, really. I'm HOPING that tomorrow might be "3 Ways To Play" day -- keep your fingers crossed! As it is, I need to get to the other stuff I'm working on, so -- good night!
