*skids in* Happy Birthday Doc Brown
Oct. 22nd, 2022 10:04 pmSo I missed it yesterday, but I got the right timestamp today! Now I'm going to finish watching GrayStillPlays and do the actual full update a bit later. *runs out*
*comes back in over an hour later* Okay. Video watching is done, I'm doing my best to keep up on the social stuff, I have some water, and I'm ready to update you on my to-do list. Despite having a very slow start to the day (woke up early needing the bathroom; didn't get back to sleep right away; finally got some more proper sleep after another bathroom visit; woke up as my parents were coming home from an estate sale they went to (got some new yard sculptures), meaning Mom and I were fighting for counter space when it came to breakfast, meaning making my smoothie took longer; then I just got plain old distracted for a while), I still managed to get everything done --
1. Continue writing "The Joker And The Queen": Check – did that after beanbags. Victor and Alice have just left the strip mall (after a brief conversation where Victor wondered if there were any more people like Alice about, and Alice saying there probably are, she can’t kill everyone who needs killing, after all). . .and an Agent Norris has just revealed himself and is getting on their tail. I don’t know if this the end of the chapter or just the scene, but next time – Victor gets kidnapped! Won’t THAT be fun! :D
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, watch the Plumbella in my Watch Later, watch something Doc Brown-related: Check – TECHNICALLY I missed one Plumbella video, but it was one that was uploaded TODAY, so it was in my Watch Later for an afternoon. I’m not punishing myself for missing that. But the others –
A) Started with the Plumbella in the Watch Later –
I. “A BABIES UPDATE IS COMING *AND* A NEW SIMS GAME (and more lol)” – Plumbella reacts to the recent Sims Summit, which involved the news of an official Sims 4 mod platform (a collaboration with a company called Overwolf – it’s gonna be like how Bethesda has an official place for modders to host mods if they so choose – Plumbella didn’t actually have many thoughts on this); the announcement of Project Rene (the one that looks like Paralives – Plumbella couldn’t tell if it was actually Sims 5 or just a build/buy simulator thing); and the reveal of better babies (or, more accurately, the “infant” life stage, as I guess they can’t actually do anything about babies being objects to start with – Plumbella was very excited about this). She admitted to being excited but also very nervous, which – understandable! She’s a family Simmer, so the babies news is great for her, but at the same time. . .well. The reason I’M not excited (beyond me accepting that I just want to play with Victor, Alice, and Smiler as eternal young adults if possible) is because I keep thinking of My Wedding Stories and the reveal that High School Years (while apparently a decent pack) only had six QA testers, and. . .yeah. I’ll keep an eye out for what’s coming, if only because Werewolves was solid, but I am sus and will continue to be sus.
II. “Museums suck in The Sims 4 and I really do believe that” – Plumbella makes a PowerPoint presentation on just how much Sims 4 museums suck. XD Because, well, they do – there’s not much POINT to them other than to do the Artist aspiration milestone to go look at paintings at one. They tend to be empty without much in the way of activities, and Plumbella is ANNOYED. She wants lore, she wants nods to other Sims games, she wants guides to go around and give tours, she wants activities, she wants FUN god damn it. XD (And yes, this does have a lot to do with one of her degrees being in history, thanks much. XD) I don’t blame her – I too wish most museums had more to do in the game – and I made a point of mentioning a mod by Simsonian Library in my comment that I think would scratch her itches. Because the second version of their Archaeology Kit mod includes museum docents that give tours, and a career that lets you do missions for museums. . . Once again, I am reminded of how much awesome stuff there is in this community. Go modders!
B) Then it was over to the Subs for GrayStillPlays –
I. “I destroyed my relationship in 0.1 seconds” – Gray Plays Couple Life 3D! A terrible mobile game where you pick your lover and have to do such things as feed her twelve tons of food (Gray was like “turkey, burgers, AND cake on one date??”), avoid her judgemental gaze as you scroll “Instagoom” for pictures of cute women (Gray was very good at that :p), pick furnishings for your bedroom (Gray of course picking all the wrong ones, like a toilet that faces the wrong way and a barstool for his FULL LIQUOR BAR), try to match the right dreams to the right person while you both sleep (Gray was very judgemental of all the stereotypes on display), draw on your girlfriend’s face while she sleeps (Gray of course did the full “YEET” with a highlighter), and force her to make funny faces to match emojis for your amusement (Gray pushing this to the absolute limit whenever possible). Dumb game, great video, as always. XD
II. “I found an elevator that goes to space in GTA 5” – Gray Plays another GTA V torture board, this time made by Alex AND his friend Petey! Theme was, as the title suggested, elevators to space, and the pain started very, very early – as in, Gray was riding the first elevator and got mulched by a blade car that was stuck in the shaft. Turns out there was a pedestrian on top of a nearby wind turbine that Gray had to shoot to clear the path. And then there were more blades to dodge in the shaft (both helicopter and wind turbine) and THEN when he got to the top – he got mulched AGAIN because as it turns out you’re supposed to jump off onto this one green platform RIGHT BEFORE reaching the top. XD Only there did he find a checkpoint. From there the board progressed to such dimensions of pain as:
a) having to jump into a teleporter that was spinning counterclockwise in a circle through a bunch of helicopters that were flying in a circle clockwise and were also spinning around their own central axes (Gray died a LOT in this section)
b) the second elevator ride (I believe by Petey) which featured an elevator that forced Gray to crouch-walk and contained even MORE in the way of deadly spinning blades that he had to avoid (plus blocks that would just push him off the elevator if he hit them)
c) The Three Loops of Incremental Insanity – three MOVING loops that Gray had to drive across on the OUTSIDE of (that is, on the OUTER edge of the circle, using the special sticky car), dodging or slipping through all the gaps in the obstacles coming his way (because he was driving in the opposite direction that the loops were turning). Featured a fake white teleporter checkpoint that took Gray either back to the beginning or to another, separate loop, plus some real teleporters for flavor (Gray had to do this section SO MANY TIMES. He said it was like 60 about halfway through. He ended having to do the vast majority in first person to avoid all the obstacles properly, and he did it so many times, he started to MEMORIZE the order at which they came at him, at least on the first loop)
d) The spiral of multicolored ramps, where Gray had to wall ride up a big old rainbow spiral of ramps – while dodging METEORS as he was near to leaving Earth’s gravity (also wind turbines because wind turbines) (poor Gray was like “why is there more” – fortunately he’s good at wall rides and managed this pretty quickly)
e) and finally the ability to leave Earth entirely via the STAZZZZ car, shooting up a mega-boosted ramp into the stratosphere, yaaaay XD
Whew! Satisfying board, but MAN did it take it out of Gray. XD Too bad for him we all love his pain and torture so.
C) And as for the Doc Brown related stuff, I ended up watching a trailer for BTTF: The Musical (which does look very cool, I must admit) and a compliation of all of Doc’s best “Great Scott!” moments (plus the switcheroo moment in Part III where it’s Marty who says it and Doc responds with Marty’s catchphrase). XD Not much, but it’s SOMETHING. (I want it on the record that I did wear one of my favorite BTTF: The Ride shirts and both of my Doc character socks today too!)
3. Play Sims 4 andeither do SimCity Founding with Valicer or more building: Check on the latter – thanks to the above-mentioned slow start, I never got around to checking most of my mods, and I was in a building mood anyway, so I went back to my building save this afternoon to continue working on my camper build for Slip 42 in StrangerVille! After doing some research on the Gallery (which was loading VERY slowly today), I ended up putting all my objects outside and deleting my original shell to experiment with new shapes. Tried the “using rounded walls on the two ends” shape again (think like a giant pill), but it just didn’t look good (especially when I saw how few windows were available for the rounded walls), and despite finding someone who’d uploaded the debug camper trailer as part of a one-tile room on the Gallery, I was never able to get it to work (it just clipped into the floor too much and refused to be moved down into the foundation – though I did find that adding a stilt foundation made it look a bit more like a camper that had been permanently parked there). I eventually settled on having one end as an octagon and the other just square, fiddled with a couple of roofs until I found a couple that worked well together, then found some decent siding, windows and doors, and got it into the right position to more or less line up with the little patch of lawn the game provides via terrain paint. Added a fence around the lawn, built a tiny bathroom and put the bathroom stuff in it, added an awning over the window in the front, arranged all the outdoor stuff (planters, laundry tub and line, mailbox and outdoor trash, woodworking bench and candle-making bench), and got the kitchen stuff and the beds in, along with an easel for the tiny “hallway” by the bathroom. It’s still a work-in-progress, but it’s starting to come together! :) In fact, have some images:

4. Work on tumblr drafts: Check – while I never did my proper dash-and-tags catch-up on Victor Luvs Alice this morning, I DID take some time before supper (because today was the day of eating late) to get my pictures for the next Chill Save update (Smiler’s graduation day). Turned out to be FIVE POSTS’ worth of pics, so I went ahead and got the posts themselves drafted with a bit of starter text so I can just jump into them tomorrow.
Additionally:
-->We did get a chance to play beanbags, as it was actually pretty nice today – Dad had a very up and down game, dominating the first two games before absolutely CRASHING in the last three; Mom did pretty damn well in the third and fifth games; and I managed to squeak in a win in a tight fourth game. Final scores were me 3-2-2-W-2; Dad W-W-3-3-3; Mom 2-3-W-2-W. Hey, we each won once, so I’m happy!
Not exactly a PERFECT day -- I felt like I spent way more time than I wanted just waiting around for shit -- but at least I did get everything done that I wanted to get done. I'll count that as a win. And now it's time to go back to the social thing -- but first, Sunday to-dos:
1. Keep up with the FO4 Playthrough Progression
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, whatever Jon's got next for Fallout, and at least ONE OXBoxtra Watch Later video
3. Play Fallout 4 and continue working way up to the Strength Bobblehead in Mass Fusion
4. Work on tumblr drafts
5. Get in a workout
Hopefully all achievable, especially if I make sure to go to bed a little EARLIER tonight, and thus get up earlier to make my smoothie. . .though the fact that tomorrow I won't have to cut anything up, just spoon it into the container, should help too. But yeah, bed earlier is probably a good idea too. Anyway, night all!
