Tired Friday
Oct. 28th, 2022 11:53 pmThough at least I'm mostly through the worst of my period now. . .and I didn't have to drive today, as my mom borrowed the car to go see a friend. Small mercies! But it's been kind of a long week, even if not THAT much has happened, and I'm glad it's over. Hooray for a long Halloween weekend, w000~ Even if it's supposed to rain Halloween itself, boo. *shakehead* Anyway, the to-do list of the day:
Work – Mostly quiet day, with just like the one call from a guy who does the same payment every month over the phone. I spent most of my time doing duplicates, though I ended up giving some e-mail templates a once-over at the behest of my boss. My boss also tried contacting the credit card people again, but there’s still no word on the latest problem, so. . . *shrug* Not my problem for four days!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike to finish off Oxventure Orbpocalypse Episode 12, “The Finale!” I left it off with the gang making a plan on how to get the stone containing Prudence’s magic off Liliana – Johnny allowed them a long rest while they waited for Liliana to go into her Drow trance, during which they came up with the following plan – Merilwen would cast Pass Without Trace to help make everyone even stealthier. Prudence would wait outside the window for them to get her magic, in case they needed to hastily throw it to her. Dob and Egbert would take care of the Butlerbert, with Dob casting Sleep on the Butlerbert and Egbert taking up reading the shipping forecasts to keep Liliana tranced. And Corazon and Katy would do the actual switcheroo, substituting in a crystal sea urchin Corazon had lying around for the stone. How did all this go?
Well, for starters, with the help of Merilwen’s spell and his “various modifiers,” as they are now called, Corazon got a 37 on his initial stealth roll and was able to literally do standing backflips through the house, mocking Katy for relying on the standard thieves’ crouch. XD But yes, the entire plan ended up going WAY more smoothly than anyone anticipated. Dob was able to send the Butlerbert to sleep with a fourth-level Sleep spell (using ambient noise underlaid with Enya XD) and just about caught him to stop him from smacking into the floor while Egbert grabbed the shipping forecasts and continued reading. Corazon and Katy made it into the room undetected, and Corazon was able to lift the gem with Mage Hand before cutting the thong and replacing the stone with the crystal sea urchin (while Katy helped Dob with Butlerbert) thanks to some spectacular Stealth rolls. They all then carefully backed out (Egbert raising his voice to compensate for the fact that he was getting farther away), leaving the Butlerbert on the floor to take the brunt of Liliana’s wrath when either of them woke up –
And then it was time to book it to the beach and hand the stone back over to Prudence! Her initial plan was to eat it, but seeing as it was too big, she smashed it on the ground, and the sentient wine containing her magic slithered up her form and poured itself down her throat, reestablishing her link with Cthulhu! Who was a bit like “where the hell have you been, young lady?” when he half-rose from the sea, tentacles folded. XD Come on, Cthulhu, you know it wasn’t her fault! Prudence promised to explain later, and the gang hurried to the stables to get the “horses” there (at least two big goats and one dog with a fake mane – courtesy of Luke, who pre-empted Johnny putting a TIGER with a fake mane in there). And so our heroes rode off, not PRECISELY flush with victory but pretty close to. XD
And then Dob had to ride back because, oh yeah, they forgot Katy in the stables. XD Dob did argue that he fully expected Katy to, you know, be able to ride off on her own, but Johnny countered that the world getting harder meant keeping better track of their NPC friends. Or fiancees, as in this instance. XD Hey, at least she didn’t out-and-out betray you like I was expecting her to, Dob! And Johnny has assured you all that Liliana finds Vocatus’s magic tacky, so she’s unlikely to use it against you except as possibly a VERY last resort. Hooray! XD
And with that done, it was time for another Petey Plays It video, this one about holiday ideas to spice up your game! From having a small day of Remembrance for Sims past, to hosting a Polar Bear Plunge and subsequent streak in the middle of winter, to making “spring cleaning” a literal holiday, Seasons DOES give you plenty of ways to spice up your Sims’ calendar! And that’s why it’s one of the best expansion packs. :)
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – while Alice WAS spotted when she picked up the briefcase, everyone was very quickly distracted by the hand-off between the two briefcase guys going bad – and the one guard who did see her, Alice quickly neutralized, drank from, and left with the impression she was working for someone named “Tony,” meaning they’d think she was from some unknown rival gang (or possibly a random Operator’s girlfriend, if one of them is named Tony). And with things really kicking off, she’s had ample opportunity to go invisible again and start making her way to the exit, dodging all the fighting. :D Good work, Alice! Now she just has to get up the remaining levels and make it back outside. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Oof, 1/3 check. . .once again, the longer writing time required for “Londerland Bloodlines” meant that I only really had time for one video, so I picked the longest – Call Me Kevin’s “5 years of Stardew Valley without leaving the farm!” This was the grand finale of Kevin’s experiment of only leaving the farm in Stardew Valley one day a year with his character Hermit, and it was all about the ancient fruit. :D Specifically, Kevin worked hard to remove all those damn green beans from his greenhouse so he could grow solely ancient fruit in there, then built a bunch of kegs and preserve makers in his bedroom to turn the lesser-quality ones into fine wines and delicious jams to make BOATLOADS of profit. Along the way, he learned that he could turn trash into treasure (or much-needed iron ore, at least 21% of the time); made plenty of orange preserves and wild honey; took a moment to clear a giant path for his chickens so they could actually eat the grass growing at the bottom of his island and thus grow up and give him eggs; used those eggs not only to make mayonnaise, but also to FEED HERMIT (and he even let him COOK them); did loads more fishing (his favorite activity); and generally slept a lot. XD But it all paid off, as after a few last harvests of preserves and wine, he was able to break a million from all the products on his farm alone!
He promptly went into town and started the takeover of JoJo Mart. XD Yes, now that it was the end of the series, Hermit felt justified into going into town multiple days and getting JoJo Mart to fix the bus lines, open up the quarry, and do all sorts of other actually-kinda-helpful things in order to become their customer of the year and get a soda machine. XD He did help the actual villagers too, mostly in the form of getting Pierre and Robin’s catalogs so he could shop from home and getting Robin to move his greenhouse and build him a barn just because, but mainly he just wanted to help JoJo Mart become the main game in town. XD A very satisfying ending to the series – even if it makes me want to go do crafting stuff in my Sims 4 game. XD (Though, to be fair, it’s looking like the vast majority of my mods are good, so. . .)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – as of right now, just a single ask reply over on Valice Multiverse. Pretty easy!
Not too shabby -- well, except for YouTube, but hopefully I can use the long weekend to catch up there. In the meantime, let's set up the Saturday to-dos:
1. Clean my room and wash my blankets
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, see about catching up on Plumbella
3. Play Sims 4 and do SimCity Founding with Valicer
4. Either write more on "The Joker And the Queen" or Valicer Blades in the Dark
Yeah, skipped my blankets on the last wash day (just doing my bathrobe), so gotta throw 'em in this week. At least Saturday shouldn't be too cold. . .and yes, giving myself choices with my writing. We'll see which way my brain pulls me. Night all!
