Just Another Meh Monday
Dec. 5th, 2022 11:48 pmBit on the chilly side (at least to start), and work was -- well, see below:
Work – Ugh – walk into the office, almost immediately get hit with the damn credit card bullshit. >.< Basically the credit card company processed a bunch of stuff yesterday – aka Sunday – meaning I had TWO GLs to deal with instead of just one, and the second one was a bit messed up because of course a lot of the stuff that was POSTED on Sunday had a deposit date of TODAY, and the summary just doesn’t show anything posed before its actual deposit date correctly. *grumbles* I spent most of the day on those GLs, and with looking up some stuff I found in the one batch that didn’t post, discovering gifts under the wrong campaign and overpayments and – UGH. Add in people calling in to do credit card updates and gifts and having to look stuff up for my coworker, and it wasn’t the best day in the office. At least talky coworker was out and unable to annoy me further! And I don’t go in tomorrow, yay.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, finishing up James Turner and heading into the Oxventure again –
A) First up, had to finish off Episode 15 of James Turner’s High School Years Rags To Riches! Most of it was James basically having Reginald get as much of the “Academic” aspiration done as possible – namely by doing all his homework and term papers and such early; going to soccer practices and games late to attend guest lectures, and banging out tutoring at all hours of the day to get that done with over the weekend (turns out you can tutor pretty much whenever, which I guess is nice – if only it didn’t take so long!). It did lead to him straight A+s again, though, so can’t fault the system! Apart from all that academic excellence, though, a few other things of note happened:
I. Reginald, quite accidentally, celebrated Love Day with Bradley (or is it Brady? I’m gonna call him “Brad” for now) Vatore! Dude asked him out spontaneously on a date to Rattlesnake Juice in Oasis Springs, and James only realized it was a holiday when he checked the little info tab at the top. It was a short but sweet date, with some flirting and a lot of Reginald giving Brad flowers. And maxing his Charisma in the process. XD Productive!
II. Reginald, simply by flying his broom constantly between class, the stadium, and his dorm, actually leveled up to Neophyte spellcaster! James checked out what the level-up could get him and spent his talent point on the one that allows Sims to read books and research on computers faster and get magical XP from it. Hey, it’s definitely the one that most suits Reginald!
III. Reginald maxed the Research & Debate skill via writing all sorts of papers on various topics to earn the big simoleons, yay. :D James thinks it should be pretty easy to buy back his house after university at this point (especially since it’s unfurnished).
So yeah – episode ended with Reginald having just signed up for his final semester, ready to get a degree and then a good job with that degree! :) Good stuff.
B) And then it was onto the first fifteen minutes of the next Oxventure – their first actually-live show in a while, the Halloween episode “A Fete Worse Than Death!” Though it actually started out quite nicely – having given Prudence the opportunity to pick where they went next (possibly because of all the shit she went through at the end of the Orbpocalypse), the gang ended up in Wilmington Spa, a very nice pastoral town with a reputation for throwing great All Hallow’s Een parties. And for having a great spa – Prudence thoroughly enjoyed the brimstone sauna they were running. XD Dob, for his part, spotted a satyr playing the pipes (badly) in front of a door for relaxation tanks and was immediately like “sign me up, dude!” To the point of climbing inside one and sealing himself in before the water levels could be calibrated so he didn’t drown. XD Fortunately, there was a tap on the side to let out a bit of overflow. The satyr told the others that the price for an hour would be two gold pieces for all of them – Egbert considered this a deal and happily climbed into another one. Prudence wasn’t really feeling the “relaxation” vibe, but once the satyr told her that there were temperature controls and they could do scalding hot coals so she could think evil thoughts, she was in. Similarly, Corazon wasn’t keen on the experience (explaining he’d once spent weeks adrift in the ocean clinging to a board and didn’t consider that relaxing at all) until the satyr confirmed that he could have one full of grog and piped-in sea shanties. XD Merilwen, for her part, was happy to just try it to see how it affected her trance state – the satyr misinterpreted this and got her a subwoofer with some awesome beats, which Merilwen gleefully added to her experience. XD The satyr set up the hourglass and let them be to soak up the calm. . .
And then, when the hour was up, Dob started getting out – and bumped his horns on the lid. Horns that he, as a half-orc bard, should NOT have.
And that’s how everyone learned that the theme of this Halloween episode of the Oxventure was a body-swap! Dob ended up in Prudence and Prudence in Dob, while Merilwen ended up in Corazon, Corazon in Egbert, and Egbert in Merilwen. Johnny in fact had everyone get up at this point and change seats so they’d be using each other’s character sheets to really sell the swap. (Andy promptly made a big deal out of looking up “Paladin” in the rulebook, while Mike assured him that he’d never read it, so. . .) The satyr came back in at this point (playing the damn Countdown theme to end the session XD) and asked how they’d enjoyed their session. The group was like “relaxing, but we’ve all SWAPPED BODIES, so. . .” The satyr was appropriately horrified as they confirmed who was who (oh, I should come up with names for the swapped versions! Okay, for this episode they are Merilzon, Corabert, Egwen, Dudence, and Prob), but had to admit that this DOES occasionally happen, and that for two gold pieces, they got what they paid for. I left it with Merilzon starting to have a panic attack about having actually paid two gold pieces for this. XD Oh, this should be FUN – I look forward to all the mixed-up souls trying to figure out their new bodies’ powers. XD
2. Continue writing gift fics: Check – cranked out SlyCooper’s tonight! He was kind enough to give me a nice detailed brief on the option I picked from his set – his OC Phillianne Tropy in her “Ventrue vampire” form, settling in for the day after a long night of doing sidequests in Los Angeles, only to get a call from her girlfriend (or ghoulfriend, as she likes to call her), Zan Owlson, and going on a rant about everything she’s been through. With Zan noting in amusement how this is a role reversal for them, as before Zan was the one constantly calling Philli to complain. . . I think I came up with something pretty cute for the pair that hits all the stuff he mentioned! We’ll see, I suppose. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – easy two-in, two-out day –
A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Gaston!” More Disney fun as he drew one of our favorite villains, talking about how much he likes Gaston’s design, and how he does appreciate the smoother animation in Beauty and the Beast even if his favorite is the more blocky 70s-style stuff, and how he wishes Disney would stop messing with the “see the film in its workprint version!” special feature on re-releases because they keep showing too much of the finished product now and he is here for the pencil tests, darn it. XD (To be fair, as I said in my comment, I can kind of relate – I wish Corpse Bride had shown off more storyboard stuff! Love those boards. . .)
B) And then it was over to the latest from GrayStillPlays – “From NOOB surgeon to HACKER surgeon in Fruit Clinic!” Fruit Clinic being a mobile game where you are a doctor. To fruit. (And vegetables too.) You do things like pull worms out of bananas, spray mushrooms off of tomatoes, cut open avocados to deliver their pits like babies (and stitch them back up afterwards), and inject color back into rotting cucumbers. It’s – BIZARRE. But Gray leapt into it with both feet, happily telling all of his edible patients he was working without a license, and just kept at it until he could fully upgrade his office. XD Our Gray, ladies, gentlemen, and other!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! As I kept it simple with the YouTube tonight, I used the extra time to get my Chill Save updates completed – all four posts now have pictures, text, and tags. :) So that’s Wednesday sorted! And I’ve got enough stuff sitting in the drafts to cover Thursday and Friday too. Now I just gotta get all of Moose’s fics sorted before I build up too much of a backlog.
So yeah -- work was sucky, but the afternoon/evening was better, at least. :) And now -- well, honestly, I should just head to bed, because I have a dentist appointment at 10:15 AM tomorrow and I want to get up in enough time to have breakfast, make my bed, and all that without feeling like I have to hurry too much. Plus I have Real ID nonsense to do shortly afterward. . . But I'll have the afternoon to myself! Goals are to write another gift fic, keep up on YouTube Subs, and watch that Hitman 3 video from OXBox that's been sitting in my Watch Later for WEEKS now. Probably won't leave me any time for gaming, but that's what Thursday is for. XD Night all!
