Can't say it's been too bad, though, at least -- though as you will see below, work was a bit of a pain, and we had some amusing trouble with our Game Night this week --

Work – I THOUGHT I was gonna have another quiet day doing mostly obituaries, but then calls from people looking to do credit card gifts of various kinds started coming in (responses to the first mailing of the year, as I gleaned from a couple of the calls), and I ended up having a day where I was constantly interrupted from whatever else I was doing to take those. Including trying to take my lunch and my breaks. >( Got a little annoying by the end of the day, let me tell you! Glad I’m free of it for the next three days, but it does make me worry a little bit about Tuesday. . .

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – one last night on the bike this week, this time chilling out with a pair of Petey Plays It videos –

A) “Complete Gardening Skill Guide [Base Game, Seasons, Cottage Living] | The Sims 4” – a guide to gardening! Touching on all the unlocks you get as you level up the skill, how Seasons and Cottage Living change up the game, the various kinds of animal and magical help you can get with gardening, and some of the fun bonuses you can get while improving the skill. Good stuff, though I was kind of amused that he mentioned Realm of Magic’s “Copypasto” (for copying plants) and “Herbio” (for causing random plants to sprout) spells, but not “Floralorial,” which is the one that helps tend to plants you already have. XD Bit of a miss there, Petey!

B) “9 Tips & Ideas To Improve Your Bedrooms | The Sims 4 Guide” – a guide to improving bedrooms! From using loft beds to increase the amount of space you have in small bedrooms (by sticking a desk or a dresser under there), to making walk-in closets, to dressing up beds with custom headboards or at least something cool behind them, to adding en-suite bathrooms, Petey gave a few good ways to make Sim bedrooms a little better. Never hurts to get a few extra building tips!

2. Continue writing “The Joker And The Queen:” Check – I have finished my emergency rewrites on the “Victor meets the Coaster Gang” scene, and it is now up to my actual expectations, even for a first draft. Everyone gets a chance to properly show off their powers (I basically skipped poor Rita in my initial version), and I was able to clean up some of the dialogue a little and make the whole thing feel a bit less rushed. Ready to move onto Chapter Four at last!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – bit of a squeeze thanks to Game Night and us having trouble with our newly-bought version of Clue (it comes with new “Clue Cards” that you can draw to do things like force all players to reveal a card, demand a certain location, character, or weapon be revealed, or move everyone to a room of your choosing – first game, Mom unknowingly shuffled one of them into the envelope instead of a location card for the murder, meaning all of us had eliminated all the rooms and were very confused until we forgot one location already had its card revealed and I opened the envelope; second and third games, the “Clue Cards” made things so easy, we finished them in minutes. And even when we took them out to play Classic Clue, it didn’t take long for Dad to win the last game), but I got in both uploads –

A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “Fun With Shorts: How to Take a Test!” Yes, Fun With Shorts has returned, with another little Centron production about a teacher giving a nervous student some advice on how to take tests! Good advice in a rather silly package, riffed beautifully by Josh mentioning things like the “military-industro capitalist complex” and how much he does NOT miss school – a good start to the long weekend!

B) And second up, the latest from GrayStillPlays – “Evolving spiders to destroy mankind!” More mobile games all about running a course and picking up/devouring items on it to evolve yourself into something bigger and stronger to get all the multipliers and stomp a boss at the end – and this one is Insect Evolution! Which, uh, features you briefly as a fly and an ant before switching over to all spiders, all the time. Gray ran with it, but Editor Zach scratched his head in a side note. XD On the other hand, though, the horrible horrible spiders in this game included various rainbow spiders, two robot spiders, a spider with legs made of bones and big googly eyes, and a Literally Spider-Man spider, so. . . XD Anyway, name of the game was to make it to the end of the road eating various fruits and pastries and anything lower level than you in order to get money and upgrade your level, until finally you were as powerful as the “spider king” or whatever and could breathe fire at him to defeat him and get all the multipliers. Gray had fun working his way up the ranks, though he was rather sad when he got his buddy Outlast to hack the game for infinite cash and found that the Level 21 spider was as high as you could go (technically, the game kept giving him levels for eating stuff, but he didn’t evolve into any cooler spiders). Still, if I must watch video-game spiders, I’ll watch these with his commentary. It could be a lot worse. :p

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just one ask reply over on Valice Multiverse. Though I did also get a very nice ask from someone who sort of literally grew up with the Forgotten Vows verse and wanted to thank me for writing something that gave them a lot of joy and inspired their own crossover works that I answered tonight. :) Hooray for inspiring others! Crossovers are one of the best parts of fandom and you’ll never convince me otherwise.

Could have been worse! And now I'm doing a bit of the social thing while looking at the "ot3 meme" tag on tumblr and saving a few key things as drafts or likes. :P Tomorrow I gotta start by cleaning my room, but I also hope to FINALLY watch that OXtra video hiding in my Watch Later, play Sims 4 and have Smiler throw a nice party to welcome in winter, and get some more done on "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland." Fingers crossed! Night all!
