crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Yeah, got a fun combination of my sinuses and one wisdom tooth acting up in concert, meaning my nose and the very top of the back of my mouth feels dry, and the gum with that tooth feels kinda sore. >( Mom gave me some sinus medication, so that's helping a little, but it's still a pain in the ass. I think this year is gotta be the year I take some time and get the stupid wisdom teeth out -- they haven't been much of an issue before now, but this is annoying. (Especially since it woke me up early, and I couldn't go back to sleep for quite a while. >( )

What's not annoying is accomplishing things:

Cleaning: Took a rather long time, frustratingly, mostly because a) I got up (OFFICIALLY got up that is) a bit later than I wanted, and b) I knocked over a few things that needed repairing afterward (my purple sunglasses that remind me of something somebody from the 2015 in BTTF II might wear – the nose pads ended up coming off – and my camo Portal turret – the little antenna on the top broke off). Also, of course, the laundry portion always takes longer than the rest of it. . . Anyway, it all went like this –

A) Dusting: 10:55 AM to roughly 1:15 PM

B) Lunch: 1:15 PM to about 2 PM

C) Swiffering and vacuuming: 2 PM to 2:35 PM

D) Repairing shit: 2:35 PM to about 3 PM (this also included ordering new silver sunglasses that look a bit more like Doc’s from Amazon as Mom was looking for replacements if we couldn’t fix the purple ones)

E) Laundry: First load of mine went in about 12 PM (Mom put her and Dad’s sheets in as well), last load came out around 5:45 PM (admittedly because I got watching videos and didn't get it earlier, but it DID take until at least 5:30 to finish!)

And this is why I don’t get a lot else done on Cleaning Saturdays! Meh.

Tumblr: While the cleaning prevented more dash-and-tags browsing on Victor Luvs Alice, I did get a few important things into the drafts:

A) Another “OT3 dynamics” post that reminded me of Valicer from one of the poly blogs I was binging last night

B) All six posts of the upcoming Chill/Valicer Save update with pictures and starter text (covering Smiler making the gardening bot and throwing a rocking party, mainly)

C) The ship meme I completed, again with pictures and some starter text

So that’s a good start – hopefully I can complete the text on most of the latter two tomorrow! :D As for Valice Multiverse, nothing really going on there (which suits me as I’m dealing with this overly-dry nose) – just killed a few porn bots in the “victor van dort” tag. We’ll see if I come up with anything to queue up before heading to bed!

Gaming: Yeah, no Sims 4 today – I ended getting on the computer too late and starting some other things (namely catching up on the old YouTubes) too early for that. But I did get in some gaming – specifically, I took a half-hour after watching the OXBoxtra lists below to play a little Untitled Goose Game and 100% my second save file! I’d left it back in August of last year on the final “to do quickly” list item, completing all the pub tasks before the church bells ring, and I figured I might as well give it a go. Took me three tries to get it right, especially with remembering which buttons did what (I’d forgotten briefly that B was “grab stuff,” not A), but eventually, with a little luck, I managed to cross off all the items and get the “congrats, you’ve done everything in the game” crown. Which the gardener EVENTUALLY put on my head, after a lot of accidentally bumping the goose. XD So yeah, I have fully completed the game twice now, and I have another save slot open and ready should I want to give it another go. :)

Writing: Got another page done on “Londerland Bloodlines” before supper – Alice has left the Last Round and made it back to the Skyeline, and I FINALLY found a way to have her go and listen to the message from the Slasher to Milton on his answering machine! Namely, by having the guard at the front confirm what apartment/floor she was on (as that’s the same thing in this building), and let her know that the cops were poking around Apartment 2 because they thought the people there were part of a theft ring focusing on car stereos. Leading Alice to remember who is staying on that floor and taking a quick invisible visit to it, listening outside the door while the two cops inside searching the place played the answering machine message! :D So yeah, THAT’S all sorted, hooray! Now Alice can go upstairs and meet up with Victor again to end THIS chapter, and NEXT chapter, when she goes after Brother Kanker, Wonderland can have her detour briefly to the meeting spot and find Milton’s corpse, the traumatized bum, and the keycard to the Luckee Star. Hooray! Well, not hooray for Milton, but he was part of a gang who killed someone’s entire family to steal one car, so no one cares about him.

YouTube: Got WAY caught up today, I’m glad to say –

A) Started this afternoon with some OXBoxtra lists from the old Watch Later –

I. “7 Beloved Features Bizarrely Cut From the Sequel” – Luke and Ellen taking us through those games that had an awesome feature in one entry that was missing from the one right after. Love the “power stance” with giant swords from Dark Souls II? Well, unfortunately, it’s missing from Dark Souls III – you’ll have to settle for smaller “paired” swords. Enjoyed moseying around the hub world in Super Mario Galaxy? Sorry, all you get is a tiny head-shaped spaceship which takes you to a more traditional 2-D level select in the second one. Enjoyed petting all the doggies in Watch Dogs 2? THERE AREN’T EVEN ANY DOGS AT ALL IN WATCH DOGS LEGION WOE – Uh, yeah, anyway, just be forewarned – don’t trust ANYTHING to make it to the sequel for sure!

II. “7 Worst Consoles That Were Hilarious Disasters” – Andy, Mike, and Jane taking us through those consoles that were – well, see the title. We had classic horror stories like the Nintendo Virtual Boy (which was a red eye-strain nightmare) and the Phillips CD-I (the source of the worst Link animation around), and more obscure entries like the Halcyon (made by the people behind Dragon’s Lair, which featured EXTREMELY poor voice controls and only two games at launch, was extremely expensive, and basically bankrupted the company) and the Nokia N-Gage (a phone/portable gaming system hybrid that was no good at being either, and tanked a year before the first iPhone appeared). If you want to see some absolutely horrible gaming consoles get wrecked (and also Mike throw a little shade at the recently-departed Google Stadia – yes, that was still around up until this year, I guess), this is the video for you!

B) And then, this evening, it was onto the Subs for today’s Call Me Kevin – “The Last of Us game is just as good as the show!” Yes, there is a The Last Of Us show out now, and Kevin decided to play through the very beginning of the game (from Sarah’s tragic demise in the prologue up to Joel and Ellie escaping the Capitol Building after discovering their contacts – the people who were supposed to take Ellie – had already been killed and Tess choosing to stay behind and die holding off the incoming soldiers rather than turn into a mushroom zombie) in honor of the first two episodes being out! Much of his playthrough was spent commenting on how awesome the game looks on the PS5 (and admittedly, it really does look nice), making Joel do stupid things like run into guards on the street (an act that got him straight-up shot in the head once by one no-nonsense lady) and shine his flashlight into Ellie and Tess’s eyes, complaining about how he has to do pretty much EVERYTHING because his AI partners are so unhelpful when it comes to enemies (particularly Tess refusing to help finish a gunfight SHE started), happily proclaiming he was in “goblin mode” whenever he had Joel sneak around, and panicking over getting around clickers because fuck clickers. And admittedly almost pulling off one really awesome “lure a bunch of clickers to a specific spot with a bottle and then molotov the fuckers” kill – a couple at the VERY END found him, but by that point Tess was actually willing to help him shoot them. :p It was a pretty solid half-hour of the game, and I wouldn’t mind him turning it into a sort of periodic miniseries, with him playing more of the game as more episodes come out of the show. We all want to see Joel run into walls, try to throw bricks at his allies (only for the bricks to go right through them), and generally be weirder and goofier than he should be, right?

C) And then it was time for a double dose of GrayStillPlays –

I. “When you literally hire satan” – yesterday’s offering, with Gray playing more of Hyper PA, the game where he is the world’s worst personal assistant. XD His PA today booked her boss dinner at a one-star restaurant with literal trash outside (causing his wife to throw up); pranked him by setting her dog on him and then making him sit on firecrackers; sent him for a colonoscopy when he asked for a doctor’s appointment for a fever; let his wife in while he was cheating; took pictures of him stealing money to get him fired; totally ignored her new boss until he told her she had a beautiful smile – and then ignored him again when she found him crying in his office; started dating the new boss – until he started cheating on her with the only other person in the office; redecorated the walls with “kitty in a balloon” wallpaper; pranked her mother with a fake tsunami; and finally answered social media comments in the worst way and earned herself a full-on devil outfit. Just another day in the life of the Hyper PA! XD

II. “Evolving the Ultimate Super Car in GTA 5” – today’s offering, with Gray back at the parkour game with Alex and GTA V! And oooh man, was today’s offering a doozy. Alex presented Gray with a car that had three sequential upgrades and courses using them, and they were all – well. Upgrade #1 was the ability to create ramps at will, and Gray had to jump his way across multiple platforms, then jump over “stairs” of increasing height and sideways wind turbines of increasing number, then leap into a wall ride with a THUMBNAIL CHANNEL, before hitting the final platform and having to spam his ramps to get up and over the final wall. Upgrade #2 was a linked hover bike, which he had to use to avoid teleporters that would send him to a viewing platform on a nearby mountain. Consequently, he had to avoid a bunch of teleporters on a small obstacle course, then do a MOVING WALL RIDE where he had to dodge and weave through a bunch of walls and thumbnail holes, swapping to the hover bike every time he came to a gap to avoid being teleported away, before finally spinning himself out of a cylinder and onto the final platform, where he had to dodge one more teleporter before ending up in the right checkpoint teleporter to move on. XD And upgrade #3 was a lovely instant boost – which he needed as the whole thing was basically chasing a moving platform to stay on it, using his other two abilities to ramp over obstacles and hoverbike over teleporters as needed. Obstacles included random walls, random dividing walls where he had to hop from left to right, cylinders with teleports in them, a side road that lead to a random WALL RIDE with a THUMBNAIL HOLE WITH A TELEPORTER (fortunately the hoverbike could phase through that wall), to jumping through wind turbines (one with, of course, a teleporter in the blades), to ramping through a garage, through squeezing through an even SMALLER thumbnail hole with a teleporter (and the hoverbike COULDN’T phase through the wall on this one, so he had to get it in JUST the right spot to make it through), to finally getting a checkpoint to the final ramp, where he had to leap up, switch to the hoverbike to land on a platform that was almost all teleporter, and shoot down the helicopter in front of the win to make the teleporter go away so he could switch back to the car, ramp, and boost his way to victory! I don’t know who I’m more proud of – Alex for making such cleverly fiendish boards, or Gray for always managing to find a way to beat them. :D

Yeah, I'm happy with that -- a bit sad I couldn't get in more Simming, but hey, I had a solid session yesterday, and it WAS nice to 100% Untitled Goose Game again. I should probably do more with Unpacking too when I need a chill time with a game that won't take long. . . And yes, finally able to set up the next stage of "Mudd Hunt" in "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland!" I think we've got three more chapters to go -- tomorrow will be finding Milton's body and cleaning up the plaguebearers; then the next night will be Grout's; then the night after that Pisha and the museum. And then it'll be time to go back around and rewrite it into a postable draft. :p Probably should reread the original "Santa Monica's Vale of Tears" story too, to make sure I don't have any major contradictions. . . We'll see how things go!

Right now, though, I'm doing a bit of the social thing, so I should be off. Tomorrow, naturally, we have Fallout 4 and taking back the Castle -- we should also have catching up on Linkara and Gray (and MAYBE Jon -- his pupper is currently at the vet, so there may be a skip in the schedule for "Tale of Two Wastelands"), getting tumblr drafts sorted, and -- well, we'll see about a workout, with how I'm feeling. Hopefully the nose will have re-moistened, at least! Night all!
