Snowier than expected, in fact -- while the weatherpeople only predicted a few passing flurries, we actually got some decent sustained snow this afternoon! Didn't add up to a LOT, but the ground got noticeably white, and it started sticking to the roads a bit. Fortunately it should all melt tomorrow as temperatures get back up into the 40s, but damn. Kind of made for a depressing day! And of course there's whatever's coming up on Monday night into Tuesday morning to look out for as well. . .I dunno if it'll fizzle out like most of the storms that have come our way or not -- I wouldn't MIND a snow day, but I also wouldn't mind not having to deal with more evil white stuff. . .

Anyway! I had no reason to venture out into the snow and the cold, happily -- here's what I did with my day:

Cleaning: I thought I had a handle on it today. . .but then I knocked over one of my DeLoreans (a Part II-style flying one that I think was a Hallmark Christmas ornament), broke off ANOTHER wheel on it, and had to take a pause to get that glued back on, and that kinda threw me off a little. Only just didn’t finish the dusting before lunch. >( Anyway, started at 10:50 AM, ALMOST finished dusting by around 1 PM and lunch, got back to it around 1:45 PM (after eating and helping with the dishes), and finished all the usual stuff (dusting, Swiffering, vacuuming) by 2:20 PM. Laundry (my sheets and my big blankets) was started shortly before noon and finished – well, I imagine it actually finished sometime in the four o’clock hour, but I didn’t actually GET them until about 6:30 PM thanks to Sims. ^^; I am easily distracted, what can I say. But other than that, pretty typical Cleaning Saturday – glad to have it done for another fortnight!

Tumblr: I didn’t get much of a chance to catch up on Victor Luvs Alice today (though I did answer the latest reblog from Stretch about the Phantom of the Opera Valicer AU), and there’s not much happening on Valice Multiverse, so. . . I DID, however, get all the pictures for the Chill Valicer Save Winterfest update sorted – all EIGHTY of them. O.O Yeah, I – I took a LOT of pictures that update. Fuckin’ hell. . .I suspect getting the text done for all of them is going to be a multi-day project! Sheesh. . .

Sims 4: As previously promised, today was a building day in the Chill Valicer save – specifically, my goal was to give the Valicer farmhouse a third level to serve as an attic and store all their holiday decorations and whatnot (thus emptying them out of the Household Inventory and making it so I didn’t have to scroll past them constantly when using the recycler). And I accomplished this goal!

I just – did a bunch of other stuff too, because I can’t be trusted with build mode. *embarrassed smile* Okay, allow me to try and sum up what I did at the Valicer Farm today –

A) As stated, I built the “attic” space – first deleting most of the roofs to clear a spot, then building the room (originally the length of the house, but then I decided that was too wide and made it a little shorter), then reroofing and fiddling around with what I had to make it all look good (and make sure the chimney for the fireplace was in the right spot). After deciding where I wanted the ladder (it’s almost directly across from the stairs to the second floor, and is orange to match the curtains XD), I then put in some lights and proceeded to chuck all the non-produce items that were in the Household Inventory up in there. . .

And realized that, huh, I actually still had a LOT of space up here – maybe I could make this into TWO rooms? One for the decorations, and one for Smiler’s ping-pong table and juice keg? And so that’s what I did! All of the gang’s Winterfest and Spookfest decorations (bar the card displays still on the living room coffee table, and a bunch of paper garlands that I sold because holy SHIT I had so many – on the other hand, I did buy a cute jack-o-lantern-wearing-a-witch’s-hat decoration for next Spookfest) are now in one room, and Smiler’s ping pong table and juice keg are in the room with the actual ladder. Hilariously, the storage room for all their decorations is currently more finished than what may actually become a small rec room – I found some good wooden flooring and wall panels to give the storeroom a semi-unfinished look, like they didn’t bother prettying it up like the rest of the house. The “may be a rec room” has the same floor as the rest of the main house, but no wallpaper yet – we’ll have to see how that goes!

B) I repainted the house! I got sad again about how the outside was just kind of beige and white, and decided to try and experiment with the more colorful swatches for the wooden paneling I used for the outside of the place. The last time I tried this, the game kept deleting stuff on the walls as I repainted, so I gave it up – THIS time, it just went ahead and repainted the outside, to my delight. I promptly made the first level blue, the second level yellow, and the third level (and appropriate roof sections) green. :D I also ended up replacing the fences and stair railings on the front porch and back patio with the “white and blue” swatch, since I felt they were too plain.

C) As indicated in the above paragraph, I built a back patio! I really wanted to have a proper spot for Victor’s new grill (a present from Father Winter himself), so I decided to turn the tiny back stairs into a proper patio area. This DID require me to shuffle Victor’s greenhouse back a couple of spaces – a complicated process that required me to rotate the tree that’s on the corner of their property so the branches wouldn’t be clipping through the greenhouse’s roof; extend the greenhouse room back two tiles; quickly undo that after I accidentally killed Victor’s trees briefly (fortunately they do not seem to have suffered any ill effects after I undid everything); this time extend the ROOF a few tiles backward before extending the greenhouse; move all the windows down and adjust any decorations that might be deleted; make the room smaller by two tiles in the front; adjust the roof to the proper dimensions; and shuffle all the plants inside back so Victor had enough space to actually enter the greenhouse without trodding on his oversized crops. Oh, and put all the decorations back where they should be and get the juice fizzer, flower-arranging bench, and herbalism grill back in line on the far wall. (Also found an excellent “de-stressing concoction” from Guidry in there – I’m surprised he was able to FINISH that after setting the grill on fire! Put in the kitchen for now.) So far, the whole process seems to have worked out, but I’m just waiting for all the plants to go bye-bye now that I’ve dared move them.

However – with the greenhouse thus pushed back, I was finally free to make a proper-sized back patio! I ended up lining Victor’s new grill up against the right-side fence, with a few counters around it (all colored red to match the red swatch for the grill) for decorations and food-serving space, then getting a nice big umbrella table, choosing my favorite fun color swatch for the umbrella, and then getting the matching chair and choosing fun swatches for their cushions. Because this is a household that likes color, damn it. XD I also ended up replacing the outdoor lights with slightly better, more expensive lights, and adding a couple of the chess-themed lights (a white knight and a red pawn) on either side of the stairs just for fun. Plus a fun rug under the table, because I’m trying to remember rugs now. XD

C) I upgraded the kitchen! I decided I was tired of it being a little too beigey and decided, well, they have money now, let’s get some fancier counters! ended up going with “The Iron Counters” from Realm of Magic, with a fun patterned countertop, and some reasonably matchy base game expensive cabinets. I also ended up upgrading their stove and fridge to the super-expensive Schmapple brand appliances – look, Father Winter had already given Victor and Alice the microwave during a past Winterfest, and Smiler the coffee maker during the most recent one, and they MORE than had the money. I recolored them all red as that seemed like the nicest color swatch they had. I also added a cute little pitcher of wooden utensils to the kitchen, though in order to get it to fit in the place I wanted, I had to whack “move objects on” and do the “put the item on the counter, then move it back and use Alt to position it correctly” trick on the paper towel roll I already had on that particular counter. Took some fiddling, but it did work!

D) I upgraded the living room! Again, because my Sims now have money, I decided to get them a nicer couch, and that led to me getting them a nicer coffee table, TV, and accent tables. The couch and the two accent tables were from Movie Hangout Stuff, as their fun bright patterns fit the vibe of this house PERFECTLY, I feel, while the coffee table ended up being from Paranormal Stuff. I also got a fun “looks a bit like a suitcase” TV stand and a new, bigger TV (though not before learning you can apparently balance the Fallout 4 CC TV I was using previously on coffee tables XD); got a nice little orange house shelf for the second Bizarre Idol Smiler picked up from one of their specter friends and put that above the TV; and put some fireplace tools, like a poker and an ash brush by the fireplace (I’d ORIGINALLY put a firewood holder there, but then I looked at the actual fireplace and realized there was LOADS of firewood already in there, so. . .). It’s the little things, you know!

E) Speaking of the little things, I made a few other more minor changes while I was at it – I moved the coat rack and the shoe rack in the little “entrance hall” area to be right by the front door, and the umbrella stand to the corner opposite (now I can actually see the coat rack I picked out!); recolored the front door to be blue to match the house’s new paint job on the first level; recolored the wallpaper in the study to be the blue rabbit-mushroom print with green wainscoting because I wanted to vary up the wallpapers a bit and felt that fit best for that room; took Smiler’s Soul Scrap and Specter Sip rewards and put them in the séance room, around the shelf with that level’s Bizarre Idol in it (moving the crystals to one of the other shelves in the room); and moved the cat furniture out of their respective corners a little bit to stop the cat melding into the walls when she uses them. :p Oh, and made the chicken coop a bit smaller (so it’s flush with the corner of the barn) and pulled forward the big animal shed to kind of line it up with the back of the greenhouse.

Whew! Quite a bit done there, even if most of it was me just fiddling around with what looked right and trying to find just the right décor items. XD What can I say, I want this house to look good and be fun! And I’m not quite finished yet, as I want to add some sort of storage and/or mini fridge to the greenhouse so I can FINALLY start emptying out Victor’s inventory properly of all the produce that ends up in there. . .plus, of course, finish the other attic room. But I think that can all wait until next week! Hopefully then I will also get a chance to PLAY my household. . . XD

Writing: Got another page on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” – Alice reported to Jack about the murder of Milton by the Southland Slasher, and he assured her that he’ll take care of the body. They also talked a bit about the Brotherhood (Damsel, Skelter, and Nines having gone to look for more members), and about what to look out for in a fight with a Nosferatu (they have Potence and Animalism in VTMB, so Jack warned her to look out for really hard punches and rat swarms – Alice wasn’t pleased). She’s on her way to the manhole leading to Kanker’s portion of the sewers now, wondering if she’s gonna have to break out the Dementation to get through this fight – perhaps, Alice! Depends on how I feel when I send you up against him. :P

YouTube: Thanks to cleaning all morning, then playing Sims 4 and making the Valicer Farmhouse nicer for most of the afternoon, I only had time for my GrayStillPlays video this evening – “Testing trains vs MASSIVE pits in GTA 5!” Yes, Alex was back with another “see which car can make it to the end of this horrible challenge board” in GTA V – and having done potholes previously, he’d upgraded to full-on pits! Starting with geometric “baby pits,” then moving to “LSD pits” full of various spinning colors and flashing lights, then “rescue pits” where Gray had to make it through two different rescue scenes of people being pulled out of rocky canyons (and had to shoot down the helicopter lifting a guy’s car to make it across the second), to an “abyss pit” of pure darkness disguised in a sea of black, to “smoothie pits” where falling down would blend Gray and his vehicle, to “mystery pits” where he had to figure out which of two alternating ramps was real to make it across the pit – and both had teleporters at the bottom, one which sent him backward and one which sent him forward, then to “windmill pits” because of course we have to have wind turbines in pits. XD SPINNING wind turbines, even (that is, they were rotating in place). Gray tried a number of vehicles, ranging from a trike with great hydraulics but not much luck sticking the landing; to a money car whose length ALMOST got it across most of the pits; to a motorcycle which was able to cheat one of the smoothie pits by going around the side, but not the other. But the winner turned out to be a lovely red racing car with some SERIOUS bounce and a good top speed. Which was good, because after the windmill pits (and a checkpoint) was the “miniboss” pit, the Florida Pit – a MASSIVE hurricane in the middle of a pit with a variety of heavy machinery, vehicles, and people all swirling around within it. Gray had to try a few times to get past that one without being minced by the wind, and eventually landed it with a lucky jump using the lowest available ramp Alex had provided (as going high just got you caught up in the chaos). And that brought him to the second checkpoint –

And the BOSS PIT. Remember how the title said Gray was testing a TRAIN against a massive pit? Yeah, Alex gave Gray a train to play with in the final level, saying it was the only thing that could jump the gigantic hole he’d carved out of the landscape. XD After going around terrorizing civilians in his trainmobile for a while, Gray headed over to the pit, which was basically a massively deep lake, and gave it an exploratory jump – he didn’t make it across, but he DID learn that his train could bounce off the boat that was in the pit. So his second attempt was based all around using that knowledge, and he literally FLIPPED THE TRAIN over the boat and onto the other side of the pit. XD GrayStillPlays and GTA V everybody! Now I kinda want Alex to do a board that ONLY uses trains to complete various challenges. . .

So yeah, maybe not the most productive day online, but I must admit, all that building/decorating in Sims 4 was fun. And the cleaning's gotta be done! The trouble is, now I've gotta fit in taxes tomorrow so I can have THOSE out of the way, along with getting at least a FEW of the posts for the Winterfest save sorted, and keeping up on at least Gray and Jon -- and I just remembered, I STILL have Gray's last compilation video to watch. . .maybe I should just watch that with some of my workouts this week. Seems like the best way to handle an hour-and-a-half video at this point! But yes, priorities for tomorrow are catching up on Victor Luvs Alice tumblr and getting some posts for Sims Wednesday drafted; doing my taxes; playing a bit of Fallout 4 (at least ask the Warwicks where their super mutant problem is); working on the FO4 Playthrough progression; and watching Gray and Jon. Oh, and answering Moose's messages if I can. *nods* Wish me luck! Night all!
