Welp, That Chill Mood Didn't Last Long

You know it's gonna be a fun day when you boot up your computer after a Windows update and find that your EA App isn't working. >.< I fixed it by using the Launcher still in my downloads to repair and reinstall the stupid thing, but that was a worrying moment! And the rest of my work day wasn't any great shakes either, though the evening was better --
Work – Well, it wasn’t boring, I’ll give it that much. And to be honest, it wasn’t stressful ENOUGH to be a real pain in my ass, but it was still pretty annoying. Two biggest annoyances were getting an envelope full of cash gifts right before the people who pick up our cash every week were due to show up (fortunately we got it down in time) and discovering a gift on our credit card company’s database that had apparently never been ported to ours in the afternoon, meaning I have a mystery to try and solve tomorrow. >( Plus the usual stuff of doing the GL, credit card calls, putting on some checks, and doing a QC file. Like I said, made the day go by, but it wasn’t exactly fun either.
On the plus side, day was nice enough that we could play beanbags! Dad had his usual “two good games and then a kind-of-shitty third,” Mom was awful to start but came through as Dad flagged, and I was consistently all right (I had a chance for glory in the first game with a ten, but couldn’t follow through on the next couple of throws, unfortunately). Final scores were me 2-2-2; Dad W-W-3; Mom 3-3-W. *shrug* We’ll see what happens tomorrow!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, with the following videos –
A) The end of the Live Oxventure “Grad Attitude!” With the balgura occupied with trying to run away in the grease (slooowly starting to gain purchase) and giving Prudence the business for this summoning, the initiative order rolled back around to Corazon, who decided to try and Sneak Attack the demon with his cutlass. Everyone was like “uh, we have to make sure Jonathan is the one to kill it – no, you can’t walk it back now, you have to do it now that you’ve said” – fortunately, Johnny was there to remind them that you CAN just render creatures unconscious at zero hit points in this game. They just haven’t done it since the very first adventure. XD Corazon decided to try that and went for the attack –
And rolled a six. Johnny, feeling trollish, declared Corazon ended up giving the balgura his sword. A pissed Corazon promptly used his bonus action to do a pratfall in his own grease. . .a move he regretted when Merilwen started calling the lightning again. Fortunately, while he was unable to get away (another six), Merilwen said that the spell had a five-foot radius, so all she had to do was hit the balgura specifically in the bum with her next bolt. It worked out beautifully, and the balgura was reduced to single-digit hit points. Dob hit Jonathan with another bout of Bardic Inspiration while Prudence – feeling genuinely bad about all this – went ahead and gave the balgura Baby’s First Eldritch Blast to knock it down to one hit point. She then rolled for Jonathan’s attack –
And got a critical one. Meaning Jonathan got his sword stuck down the back of his shiny leather armor (and possibly sliced some of it off, as Dob and Egbert were hoping for). The balgura took the opportunity to leg it – Corazon tried to pick Jonathan up with Mage Hand and throw him after it, but whiffed the roll – fortunately, Dob and Egbert using old-fashioned brute strength got the job done, hurling Jonathan into the balgura and killing it on impact. Jonathan delightedly sprang to his feet and announced he was going to university. XD And the episode ended with the epilogue that this was actually in-part based on Johnny themselves lying on an application to a college years ago about how many books they’d read, and having to cram in as many as they could in a week when they got an interview (including Paradise Lost). XD Fun stuff!
B) “I built a 4x4 Tiny Home” by James Turner! I didn’t want to start the next episode of his High School Years Generational Epic, as it’s actually only 33 minutes long (meaning it could fill a workout session all on its own), so instead I went for this building video, where he decided to make a super-tiny home to show off how far building tiny homes has become since one of his first attempts at a 4x4 home in 2016! And then ended up doing the exterior to at least somewhat match the old tiny home just for funsies. :p It was a pretty interesting video, especially when he compared the “using bb.moveobjects to glitch things together in such a way that they’re still JUST usable” interior of the 2016 home to the “we now have a shower that is literally a pipe in the wall to make super-small bathrooms, bunk and loft beds to save sleeping space, and the entire Tiny Living stuff pack to work with” interior of the 2023 home. XD I’m not really a “tiny home” person myself – I prefer lots of space to work with, especially in Sims 4 where the routing issues are already a little problematic – but it was interesting to see the tricks of the trade and watch James try to figure out what he wants to put where for maximum efficiency. And make fun of his old super-enthusiastic always-shouting voice. XD
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice took a nasty hit from the clawed ghoul at the top of the stairs, but quickly took him down with her knife; the lady also waiting up there fortunately just wanted to stab the dead body, so she wasn’t any threat to Alice. Between that and Grout’s latest tape (detailing his own Embrace and his contempt for his own ‘test subjects’ – especially the one that gnawed off his own arm to escape), Alice is feeling pretty damn murderous. . .though she was also briefly terrified that this sort of thing might be her OWN fate eventually. Fortunately Wonderland was able to reassure her that no, she’d never end up like this, and she is on the move again, ready to take on more of this awful horror house. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – being Thursday, there wasn’t anything too long in the Subs, so I was able to get in an extra video too –
A) First up, from the Watch Later, we had OXtra and “1 Million Subscribers to Outside Xtra?! Our Best Moments (So Far)!” :D Yes, OXtra has hit the 1 Million Subscriber mark, and thus had a short celebratory video with Luke, Ellen, Jane, and Mike (Andy unable to be there, I assume he was on vacation) reminiscing about favorite OXtra moments, like the “big head bosses that were just big head” lists, the Disney Vlog, the whole Blades in the Dark campaign, and the gang playing Mousetrap together. :) It was a fun, wholesome video looking at these friends and their shenanigans over the years. :) And they’ve promised another proper celebration later (once Andy’s back and the button from YouTube has been received), with Luke constantly joking it will involve more Garfield Lasagna Party. XD We’ll see if that happens or if the others insist on doing REAL video games.
B) Then, in the Subs, we had the latest from Josh Way – “SKETCHY: Gloria's Favorite Pokémon!” Gloria being his daughter, who is super into Pokémon. :) Josh showcased drawings of her three favorites – the Alolan variant of Vulpix, the shiny variant of Umbreon, and Chien-Pao, a snow-based Pokemon canonically made from the anger of people stabbed to death with swords that first debuted in the Scarlet/Violet generation. O.o Pokemon are weird sometimes. As Josh generally does these drawings in sets of four, however, he slapped on a drawing of Quaxly, a duck-based Pokémon, from his Duck-ember drawings at the end. Josh himself doesn’t know much about Pokémon, nor have much to say about them, but he likes making his daughter happy and drawing lots and lots of things. Apparently he’s feeling the urge to make comics again – not a full-on webcomic, but maybe the occasional one-paneler. We’ll see if and when that goes anywhere!
C) And finally, we had the GrayStillPlays Thursday minisode – “5 Myths in GTA 5 #shorts!” Myth One: If your character has glasses, they will get knocked off if a pedestrian punches you, regardless of where they hit – true! Gray offended someone and climbed onto a garbage can so they’d punch him in the leg, and Florida Man’s sunglasses still went flying. XD Myth Two: There is one spot in GTA where you can walk on water – true! This one pig farm by Mt. Chillead has water basins for the pigs, and if you find the right way to climb on them, you’ll find an invisible barrier above the water, letting you walk on it (technically). Myth Three: The safety nets under the bridge by the docks are not only fake, but horrendously lethal if you fall through them – true! Not only do you phase through, they do SOMETHING that just SHOOTS your character into the ground below at a very lethal speed. It’s weird. Myth Four: If you explode a grenade underwater, you can’t kill yourself with it – false! Gray threw a grenade into a nice deep lake, jumped in after it, and ended up VERY dead when it exploded. Myth Five: You can do an “action hero” front flip if you jump on a pedestrian from a step – true! Gray showed it, and its very action hero-esque. XD Good work, Gray!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – as Victor Luvs Alice is good, I just had to worry about Valice Multiverse, and I only had one ask reply over there (about a retail “gift card” horror story), so not much worrying! :p
So yeah, not a great beginning, but an acceptable ending, to be sure. And now I just have to get through Friday, and it'll be the weekend! Cleaning weekend, admittedly, but with less in the Watch Later hanging over my head, that's less of an issue. :p Good night!
