crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)

It's doing that thing again where, if I don't find the exact right position, it'll suddenly act like I released and then clicked the mouse button again -- so if I'm highlighting some text, it'll stop and then start again halfway through, or act like I double-clicked on buttons or items on the menu bar. It's deeply annoying and I wish I knew how to make it stop. >( Freaking technology sometimes. . . *sigh* Anyway -- other than that, here's how my day went --

Work – Slightly more to do today, in the form of we got some returned mail (just two pieces, but still), and I managed to clear out a “these people want to make a credit card gift but have not yet actually got in contact with me” item that I had sitting in my little in-basket for a while. So that was nice! But yes, other than that, primarily cleaning up duplicates and things related to duplicates. Kind of a long, slow day as a result. *sigh* And I’ve still got one to go before the four-day 4th of July weekend. . .

Oh, and, as usual, no beanbags – though for a different reason than usual this time, as my mom went out with a friend of hers. *shrug* We’ll see if we can play tomorrow – depends on chances of rain, the relative humidity, and the air quality level!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and back to James Turner’s High School Years Rags To Riches Generational Epic, with “I built the best teen bedroom ever! High School Years (Part 37)!” Which, as indicated, was at least partially a building episode – James spent most of the first part setting up one of the hallway bathrooms as Breanne’s new en-suite bathroom (involved shifting the stairs to the attic a bit, but he made it work), then remodeling her bedroom to give her a walk-in wardrobe, a selfie space, and more teen-appropriate furnishings and décor (she’s a preppy fashionista type with a love for bright colors contrasted against darker ones, according to the finished product). The rest of the episode was largely focused around Addison and Breanne’s first day at school together, with James making them both socialize loads so Addison could have some friends to invite them out to parties for their Live Fast aspiration, and Breanne could have friends to help complete her new teen-specific aspiration, Admired Icon (she has to be a popular teen, making posts on Social Bunny and throwing epic parties). Worked out pretty well, with James spamming their new friends with direct messages on SB so their friendship bars would increase faster. XD On the minus side, though, Creepy Teacher is still teaching at the school! Seems like he lied about having an art-related job (or the game lied, since I’ve seen this in my own game – the principal claiming to be a bartender when Smiler got to know her at Geekcon), so James is contemplating a more permanent solution to the problem. . . But that’s for another episode. XD We’ll see how things go probably next week, as I believe the next episode is 40-something minutes, and thus not well-suited for a Friday workout session. Have to find something else for that one!

2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – after literally running into another clawed ghoul on the other side of the mirrored rooms, Alice managed to best him by slamming him into a wall to stun him, then just booking it up the nearby stairs and through the nearest pair of doors, which put her back in the library, this time on the upper level. And, unlike most characters with the ability to notice special shit in the environment, Alice ended up doing candle puzzle #2 instead of just pulling the secret book in the bookcase to open the secret bookcase door on the level below. Because I figured she’d at least want to TRY, on the basis of the previous puzzle wasn’t that hard. And indeed, she solved this one in a mere four pulls (as it’s not that difficult – pull the middle candle twice to light the other twoo; the left one once to put it out; and then the right one once to put them all on and open the door). So yeah, if there was any extra XP on offer for solving that one, she’d get it. :p Good work, Alice! Your trip through the hell house may continue!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check plus – as the only thing in my Subs was a Shorts, I indulged in a couple of bonus videos fresh from the Watch Later –

A) First up, the OXBoxtra videos of the week –

I. “7 Starter Weapons That Were the Best Weapon in the Game: Commenter Edition PART 2” – Luke and Ellen taking us through those games where the first weapons you got were clearly the best, as suggested by the commenters! For the second time, no less! Included were such classics as 47’s iconic Silverballer pistols in the Hitman series (easy to conceal, comes with a silencer, just looks cool); the sledgehammer and remote detonator charges from Red Faction: Guerrilla (great for taking down buildings, and pretty solid on killing enemies as well); and the Saw Cleaver from Bloodborne (good reach, inflicts extra damage on beasts, and is featured on the game’s box art so you know it’s a winner). I threw the Vorpal Blade from the Alice games into my comment on the video – I mean, it’s Alice’s iconic weapon for a REASON!

II. “7 Times You Failed By Being Too Good At the Game” – Andy, Mike, and Jane taking us through those games where being too good at something was actually a BAD thing! Perfectly master the balance beam mechanics in the opening of the second Saw game and beat the final one? Great job – the character you’re playing as at that moment dies anyway, and the character you will spend the rest of the game with will now die at the end of the game, because you’ve in fact gone back in time to play his section and beating that balance beam condemns him to death. Get an early lead through the power of button mashing in the final Canary Mary race in Banjo-Tooie? Great job – her rubber-band AI will now snap her forward to overtake you in such a way that you’re unlikely to ever beat her at all. Figure out how to perfectly encourage your snail to win the snail race in Undertale? Great job – your reward for winning is one less gold than you paid to play the stupid game. (Though in this one, given that what you have to do is get second by such a narrow margin your snail thinks it got first and the owner of the snail farm quickly gives you thirty gold to make it think it won, I think the game is actually rewarding you for being better than best. :p) Games can be mean sometimes, is what I’m saying.

B) And second up, the GrayStillPlays minisode of the week – “Testing Motorcycles vs MASSIVE Pot Holes in GTA 5 #shorts!” Yes, taking a break from the traditional mythbusting to instead see if a motorcycle can make it over potholes ranging from 10 feet to 50 feet – first individually, then all at once. The answer – yes, if you know what you’re doing, and fortunately, Gray does. The trick is to lean back at just the right moment to get that little bit of extra air, and to aim for the side of the pothole whenever possible. Also, interestingly, doing all of the potholes in one go is actually easier than doing them individually, as you build up speed as you go and thus get plenty of momentum to get yourself over the gaps. *thumbs up* Good to know, Gray!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – Victor Luvs Alice is set for the moment, so I just had to do something for Valice Multiverse. And as there were no asks or thread replies, I end up just reblogging my recent post on Sims 4 Valicer Outfit Fun. *shrug* Might as well, right?

Oh, and as a bonus, answered all of Moose’s messages AND managed to find my parents a nice e-card for their anniversary. Hopefully they like it!

Okay, seem to have found the magic spot where it'll work correctly for the next few minutes -- just in time for me to rush off to bed. Ugh, hopefully this doesn't become too much of a thing over the long weekend. . .night all!
